We have been to the Anchor each year on our way to a holiday cottage in Herefordshire so we knew that the location was lovely and the food excellent. Our Sunday evening roast dinner was excellent. The room was spacious and well furnished and the bathroom was clean and well appointed. We were surprised that it was a do it yourself breakfast but everything was catered for.

There was a disturbing noise like drumming when we went back to our room after dinner. We were afraid it would continue all night so went down to the bar to ask. The very kind girl behind the bar said she would ask about it but it continued. When I went down to ask again the whole place was shut. The noise did stop before we went to bed and we had a very good night's sleep. Perhaps a warning about the noise might have helped. We assumed it was something to do with the heating.

Good location, lovely friendly staff, good traditional English pub, restaurant food was great, ample parking, nice and quiet, only the sounds of the countryside, a place to feel relaxed and safe.

Bathroom/toilet was a little bit small but still functional, would really have liked a proper English breakfast for what was paid, thier chefs could have cooked up a lovely one, the do it yourself in the room with toast and cereal fell a little short, if given the option we would have paid extra for it.

The location was delightful, perfect after a long working day. The room was nicely presented and appointed with all the facilities needed and more. The 'in room' continental breakfast was very well planned and presented with plenty of options to cater for most customers stays. I really enjoyed having what I needed and being able to carry on working whilst taking breakfast in comfort.

My only observation would be that the dining menu on the day was not as extensive as the website, but the meal I had was still excellent. Nothing else.

Great quiet location. Enjoyed breakfast in room, supplied daily. Nice to have fresh milk. There's a lot in the room - iron, ironing board, fan, big TV, hairdryer which you don't always get in a pub.

The bathroom light's movement sensor is fine, but not during the night; it disturbs the sleep. We bought sleeping eye-masks from the Savers in Thornbury a few miles away, which solved the problem. It dims to green anyway, which is ample at night. The fan is also on the movement sensor but can be switched off easily. Shower cubicle in our room was on the small side, but that's nit-picking.

Room was fab, had all that you needed. Breakfast was continental and all in the room, which was great We had a meal in the pub, food was good but service very slow, was shown to a table and waited 10/15 mins and still no-one brought us menus we had to ask for them

Bar staff not very helpful on the beers they are selling, husband asked what Blonde Ales they had but they couldn't tell him, when your selling real ales would expect the bar staff to have a little knowledge of what they are

Very impressive room which looked fairly new. Had everything I needed for 3 day stay. Selection of cereals and toast with butter and preserves in room.replenished daily. Modern bathroom with automatic lighting. Towels changed daily.

Shown room but not given any information e.g that breakfast items were in a cupboard or how to work coffee machine. Several TV programmes were in Welsh. Internet did not work on Tablet. Had to go outside to the Pub to ask questions which bar staff could not answer. Should be given choice about changing towels daily to help the environment

quiet and relaxing, great food in the pub, excellent facilities, comfortable big bed, modern bathroom, good value, breakfast was in our room and a good selection of cereals and jams, choice of yoghurts, coffee machine was a bonus.

only tiny thing for us was the automatic bright light in the bathroom - excellent light for seeing but very bright if visiting the bathroom in the early hours! The green glow from the bathroom light at night was a bit bright even with the bathroom door closed

I was quite happy with the DIY breakfast provided. There was everything needed for a 'cold' breakfast (incl. bread and toaster). The quality was excellent and a delightful touch was the home-grown granola. Had an existing external evening appointment, so I was unable too sample the extensive dining/drinking facilities. All the staff were polite, friendly and helpful.

Don't change anything ... for me it was perfect.

Lovely period Inn, with an nice range of beers Quality appliances in the room including a Nespresso machine. Breakfast was stored in the room in a fridge and cupboard. Although no cheese or cold meats, the selection was more than sufficient and the homemade granola delicious

A huge room with lovely views over the fields and garden. Extremely large comfy bed and big bathroom with both bath and shower.

I hadn't realised that breakfast was provided in the room and there was no hot option. There was juice, yogurt, cereals and bread for toast which was fine, although some simple /easy to follow instructions for the coffee machine would be good.
