The hotel is beautiful and the location is right on the water (my kids were able to jump in from their dock). It's also right on a main square in town. Staff were very nice.
These may be criticisms of Hallstatt as much as this hotel but... the room was very expensive for what you get (which is nice, and as promised, but was one lofted room for the 3 of us). The town itself is hard to navigate with parking outside and being crammed with Instagramming tourists. That said, staying in the town does give you a chance to see it when the busses leave.

This is THE hotel to visit in Hallstatt. If you see signature photos of Hallstatt, you will no doubt see this hotel right on the water and right next to the iconic church. It is centrally located and has lake-front dining with superb views. We booked one of their Junior Suites and was impressive. We have a large covered patio off the large room and it looked right out onto the lake. Breakfast was included and it was excellent. Thank you for a lovely time in this picturesque town. Side note: about a block to the south from the hotel is where you can rent an electric boat. We did 1/2 hour, which was 30 euro, but well worth it as we had plenty of time to cruise across the lake and up and down the town's shoreline for our own fabulous photos
This town gets BUSY, but you have it ALL to yourself in the morning and the evening as the day-trippers exit.

The staff here are absolutely wonderful - genuinely friendly and incredibly helpful throughout the stay. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Hallstatt with a nice lake view from the room. You can walk the entire charming town in about 30 minutes, and being at this emblematic hotel does give you that authentic Hallstatt experience many visitors are looking for.
A few areas could use some improvement. The bedding wasn't the most comfortable - pillows could use a bit more support and the duvet felt somewhat rough. The breakfast was generous and quite good overall, though fresh orange juice would have been a nice touch given the setting. The restaurant is on the pricier side too. The lake view from the room was lovely, though it's just through a window rather than having a balcony to step out onto. For such a charming town, there might be other accommodation options worth considering, but this place certainly has its appeal as an iconic Hallstatt experience.

The hotel sits right on the lake and faces the plaza. Sitting on our terrace looking out at the beautiful lake was one of the highlights of our trip. The price at the hotel is not cheap. You are paying a premium for the view….and it is worth it. Highly suggest getting a room with the terrace on the lake (we had a bigger terrace with a chaise and table and chairs) We also had dinner at their restaurant both nights, for the food and the views. Again, sitting on the lake enjoying a fine meal can’t be beat. The food at the restaurant was superb, and the service top notch As the hotel is old. like a typical Grand Hotel, the rooms are a bit old fashioned ,and there is no A/C (and we were there during a heat wave). While the bed itself was comfy, the pillow cases and comforter was not. See below about that. The room we had was one of their premium rooms so it was a very good size with a big terrace. The bathroom was also large with plenty of counter space. There was a desk to work on, and plenty of plugs for all your gadgets, both near the desk and nightstands. Wifi worked well. The website photos are indicative of the hotel, rooms, view etc. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. It was worth the extra price to have such a lovely terrace on the lake and superb restaurant also right on the lake with terrific service. Just hope they change those pillow cases and comforter to something as luxurious to match everything else
the pillow cases and comforter were rough and not comfortable. Both were made out of a very rough material. Looked like burlap but not that rough. But still rough to sleep on. Clearly these items were chosen NOT for comfort, but for the look. At a high end hotel, I would expect soft comfortable pillow cases and comforter. Heck , you can get that at low end hotels…so why not a high end hotel where you are paying 600 Euros or more!!

The view from the Junior Suite was absolutely incredible, and the balcony was impressively spacious. I could have happily spent the entire day just relaxing in the room, enjoying the view, without needing to go out. The location is, without a doubt, the best in town—right on the main square and just a short walk to the iconic postcard viewpoint of Hallstatt. There’s also a convenient shuttle service to and from the hotel from Parking P1. As for the breakfast, it was quite average considering the price. It was buffet-style, but the food wasn’t particularly tasty, and the selection—especially for hot items—was limited. That said, I highly recommend the Junior Suite if you plan to stay here; the view alone is worth it.
The staff in the breakfast room were not very friendly.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Abhi at the reception. He had a wonderful personality—friendly, patient, and always smiling. He provided us with all the necessary information, making check-in smooth and pleasant. When we encountered an issue with our bathroom—the bath wouldn’t hold water and the drain wasn’t working—Abhi promptly took care of it. He moved us to a beautiful room overlooking the lake, complete with a spacious bath and stunning views of both the lake and the town. It was truly a fantastic upgrade. Abhi went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay. His professionalism, kindness, and dedication stood out. We genuinely believe he deserves a “Best Employee” award for his outstanding service!
We loved everything

The location is brilliant and so is the lake view. Excellent big room with an open terrace balcony for the junior suite. The reception staff was extremely courteous and helpful. It's located right next to the square so one is in the heart of this beautiful village and all the activities
The waiter can be a bit more cooperative. A couple of times we wanted to change something in the order seconds after booking and he won't alter the order saying it's already placed. Once it was just for cancelling a bottle of still water. Just leaves a bad taste when all the other things are excellent

The room was really nicely done and romantic, the terrace had an incredible view at the lake and mountains around
The staff was absolutely uncoordinated and rude, I have not seen anything like this in a hotel for a long time. Incredible. You need to breath really deeply o overcome this and shield yourself with a patience. The breakfast was really poor and if you come at 9am do not expect the tables around you to be clean any more. BTW: you'll also be asked by a waiter to be patient because you are in the 4 star restaurant and they need some time to serve you... :-) My Got!

this is my 2nd time staying here. first time didnt book the lake view so it was just okay considering the property location and the view of the lake, but this time I FELL IN LOVE with every aspect of it, from the location of the property (no doubt), the helpful and friendly staff, the food of its restaurant, the free shuttle for check in/out to the car parking, the spacious room during our stay (we got free upgrade and just realized during check out), THE VIEW from our balcony was just spectacular. this is what a memorable trip is supposed to be. thanks for making our honeymoon trip blessful.

The hotel staff Abhi assisted me in lending of the UK to Europe converter and advised on my transportation. George was the one who assisted me in getting to 5 fingers & skywalk. Without him, I wouldn't get my luggage up from 3rd level to the 4th as there was no elevator. Luka advised me on skywalk tour. These staff are the best I came across.
The P1 carpark to the hotel is quite a walking distance though.
