You can't beat the location. Great value for money on the city view rooms as all rooms in the tower are the same size. That being said, the rooms are small, and the bathroom is tiny. The room is more like a 4 star hotel but you're able to use all of the facilities of the palace wing such as pool, fitness center, and spa. I stayed in the palace wing last year and you definitely get what you pay for, and that includes the front desk staff which are much more polite and accommodating on the palace side. After experiencing one of the sea facing club rooms in the palace wing once, staying for a fraction of the price on the tower side is well worth it.

The front desk on the tower side were straight up rude and argumentative when I told them that they had disturbed me by calling my room for a non-emergency over and over right around 10pm at night. I like to wake up EARLY. They called me so many times in a row while I was sleeping that I nearly disconnected my phone from the wall. The next morning instead of apologizing, they told me that they are allowed to call the room as many times as they want before 10pm. Totally unacceptable.

Our stay at the Taj Mahal Palace was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived to the time we checked out, the service was flawless — truly world-class hospitality that goes above and beyond. Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of, making us feel not just welcomed, but genuinely cared for. A special highlight was the heritage tour led by Prabhakar, who has been with the hotel for over 40 years. His stories brought the hotel’s rich history to life in a way that was both engaging and moving. Afternoon tea at the Sea Lounge was a delight — delicious treats paired with an unbeatable view of the Gateway of India. Later, we enjoyed cocktails at the iconic Harbour Bar, including one made from an original 1903 recipe, a unique touch that captured the spirit of this legendary hotel. Staying at the Taj isn’t just about luxury — it’s about experiencing a piece of history, with heart and soul at every turn. An unforgettable stay.

This was one Hotel where tradition met with modernity in best possible synthesis of two eras. This was one of the finest hotels i have ever stayed in the world and the atmosphere surrounding us all through our stay was nothing less than the description " pinnacle of hospitality " . The traditional Indian reception we received , as soon as we entered the premises was astounding . It was a spectacle matching with that was the ease of check in by smiling and very helpful staff at the reception . Room was fantastic with all modern amenities . The cafe, bar, Golden dragon restaurant were all fantastic but the aura inside the hotel was so spectacular that one would love to stay more days just to enjoy the Hotel itself with all it's grandeur and fanfare . Audio visual show at the swimming pool was spectacular and very informative. Breakfast spread was massive and staff wonderful and it added a special mystical feeling with live sitar being played at the lounge resonating at the minds of each and every guests .In one sentence " our stay was made memorable with wonderful staff and management alike".

Location, cleanliness and happy fun feel

I go to the Taj about twice every year and every time I have a problem with paying / the front desk staff. It’s like they’re so afraid of getting anything wrong that they assume an inability or lack of funds on the customer behalf. They need to learn that one does not have to dress oneself dripping in jewels to have plenty of money - an understated culture prevails in the happier side of the western world…. Not everyone wants to flash wealth. If checking out could by short and checking a consistent process rather each staff member assuming their own interpretation of how to check a guest into the hotel. Is there not a policy in place…?

The staff is exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The location is ideal, and the building boasts a rich historic past. The gym and pool areas are well-equipped and meticulously maintained.

On several occasions, we were pressured to upgrade to an ocean-side room, despite having already declined twice in advance via email. We were also repeatedly urged to book dining reservations far ahead of time, though whenever we arrived without one, the restaurant was far from full. And when we inquired about a simple spa treatment, we were made to sit through a 20-minute “consultation” that felt more like a scripted sales pitch—when all we wanted was the price of a 90-minute massage. Overall, these experiences made us feel less like valued guests and more like sales opportunities. We dined at all the in-house restaurants; while the food was good, it felt overpriced.

I would like to sincerely thank the hotel management for their exceptional kindness and support during my checkout. My son was unwell with a fever and diarrhea, and after I had already checked out and returned the key, one of the staff members noticed my situation. He generously provided me with a room so I could change my son’s diaper and stay comfortably until his fever went down. I also ordered food for him, which was promptly delivered to the room. Their thoughtful assistance, including offering to call a doctor, truly went above and beyond. I am deeply grateful and will never forget their outstanding hospitality.

The waiting time during breakfast was inconvenient, especially since I had children with me.

This is my second stay at Taj Mahal Mumbai. We booked 2 rooms travelling with 3 kids . On our arrival, we requested upgrading to Taj Palace .The staff really were cooperative with us, and we were upgraded to Taj Palace .It is really a palace and gives you the feeling that you are living in a real palace . The staff are great the want to serve you in any way. My kids really enjoyed every moment at Taj, and they are thankful for the life gurd at the swimming pool and the Sea Lounge staff who really helped them a lot . The food at Sea Lounge and Shamiana resturants was great. I really thank The Taj group for their success . See you Taj next year.

Our stay at the Taj had a few glitches in the beginning. Mr. Rahul (director of rooms) stepped in and everything changed. He assured us that things would be smooth from then on, and the experience really turned around. A beautiful bouquet was sent to us…a thoughtful gesture that we truly appreciated. Housekeeping staff Satish was marvellous, attentive, and efficient. Nikita at Loya is a gem—warm, gracious, and made our dining experience extra special. Thanks to the care and attention shown, we ended our trip on a very positive note and look forward to visiting again

There is lack of communication amongst the staff members. You speak to one of them and explain them your need they assure you it’ll be done, you come down and the person on site is clueless and he will again take 15-30 minutes trying to contact the seniors and checking if its allowed/ permitted. Please communicate better amongst yourselves.

We were staying at the hotel to celebrate my mums retirement. Abeer made this such a memorable stay for not only my mum but my kids too. She asked about my mums likes and dislikes and was at reception when we arrived. It was such a lovely welcome with a bouquet of flowers and cake. Abeer really helped with planning what to do during our stay and also advised best places for sari and Indian sweet shopping. She also informed us about the activities that were on at the hotel like yoga. Abeer could not have done more to make this a comfortable and fun trip for us all. We took a trip around Mumbai in an E-Cart which was fun. Please extend our thanks to the driver who went out of his way to take great photos of us in the cart even in the Mumbai traffic . We did the heritage tour with Newton who was really good. Special thanks to Sweety in the pool area- who was so good last year when we came that I remembered her name this year too. She was so professional and welcoming and remembered us too. We would come to the pool area to relax after dinner and she made it special for us. Khushi in reception is new but you could not tell. she was really good and my daughter was so fond of her. She went out of her way to make my daughter feel special. The whole restaurant team were amazing too and my kids enjoyed the teddy pancakes. My mum has said this is her best trip and she will never forget it Thank you so much Abeer and team for giving us great memories! There is a great team of staff that make this hotel so special

We enjoyed a wonderful 4-night stay at the Taj Mahal Tower. The staff were warm, helpful, and attentive, ensuring a seamless check-in and check-out experience. Our room met all expectations and was impeccably maintained, with prompt and thorough housekeeping that enhanced our comfort throughout the stay. What truly stood out were the small yet thoughtful gestures from the housekeeping team — complimentary masala chai, wine, and even bookmarks — which reflected genuine care and attention to our experience. Breakfast was available at two different restaurants, both offering generous buffet spreads with a wide variety of Indian and continental options. The service was consistently attentive, with staff regularly checking in to ensure we had everything we needed. The lounge area was always lively and welcoming, with helpful staff available around the clock at reception and concierge. Dining was a delight, with several excellent in-house restaurants and the iconic Harbour Bar, allowing us to enjoy memorable meals without leaving the property. We also appreciated the historical tour, which offered insightful background on the rich legacy of the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, as well as the Tata family’s inspiring story. The hotel's location is ideal — overlooking the bustling Gateway of India area, yet surprisingly quiet inside, offering a peaceful retreat from the city's vibrant energy. Overall, the hospitality was exceptional and made our stay truly unforgettable.
