Breakfast was good . Hostess made us eggs and brought croissants . Cherry cake was good. Meriam very friendly and answered all our questions . Very clean and cheerful . Lovely balcony . Has tea and coffee in the room . It was quiet . Location excellent . Bus stop by the door near all the sights. Walking distance to bus station . Easy entry access when we arrived. Instructions very clear Meriam was a lovely cheerful person. She made us feel as if we were at home.

I can’t think of anything I didn’t like

Livingstone was perfect for our stay in Matera. Miriam, our host, was lovely. She helped us with anything we needed and made us a delicious breakfast each morning, complete with home baked pastries and eggs. Her coffee was exceptional! We enjoyed our terrace . The room was large, clean and comfortable. We loved the atmosphere. Livingstone is in the perfect location to explore Matera and the Sassi. Miriam helped us to find parking. We left our car and walked everywhere.

We stayed in the NEW YORK room....fitting for this proud NY'er! lol The space was perfectly designed, clean and airy. The Terrace was enormous. There is a 2nd terrace at B&B on the same floor of the room that is public, equally nice and set up to enjoy. Air conditioning worked great, shower was fantastic with plenty of hot water and good pressure. Lots of space and well lit. Bed was comfortable, small fridge in the room with welcome waters and a kettle to make tea and instant coffee. Breakfast was prepared and set up in the main area. Which was so nice and comfortable. Temperature is comfortable for even an American like me who must have her air conditioning. Host gave us some wonderful recommendations and history about GORGEOUS Matera! This place is special, you must stay here if you visit. Its 5 min from a garage. I highly recommend this place for the space and the friendly host. She made our stay even more special!

Not staying longer!

Despite its very high rating, as well as the numerous positive comments about owner/hostess Miriam, our stay at Livingstone B&B in Matera greatly exceeded my wife's & my expectations during our two night stay in June 2024. There are three individual guest rooms (we saw all three, and each one is massive, especially when compared to hotel rooms in Italy) with ensuite bathrooms. Our room, New York (the other two are London and Paris), was on the top floor of the apartment, so we enjoyed privacy and solitude, plus the added bonus of a private balcony area, complete with a sun lounger. Livingstone is bright, modern, and impeccably clean. Miriam obviously takes great pride in Livingstone, and is certainly passionate about providing the absolute best experience possible for each and every guest. The photos are 100% accurate, and reflect what you see and experience when staying at Livingstone. Livingstone is conveniently located less than a three minute walk (two right turns, then down the hill) to the town square, where you'll enjoy magnificent views down to the Old Town historic area of Matera. If ever my wife & I return to Matera, we will absolutely definitely stay at Livingstone again.

Not a single solitary thing. We had a most thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing stay at Livingstone.

Matera is a unique sightseeing place, and Livingstone B&B is a few paces from the center square of the Sassi. Location is totally perfect. Our young hostess was lovely, and took care of everything. Somehow we were quietly upgraded to the largest room, which includes a small terrace. Room was modern, clean and totally enjoyable. Breakfast was more than adequate, including eggs, fruit and a homemade tart. Fluffy towels, great mattress, kettle and fridge. Great.

So, you must be willing to walk up a steep floor and a half. Not an issue, but be aware. Our only disappointment was with the lack of hot shower water amount/pressure. Other than that, we had a really marvelous time, and would come again.

It was great. It was comfortable and the owner was so helpful and lovely. She let us know there was a huge celebration happening when we were there and gave us directions to a parking garage which was super close. It was about 24 euros per day to park. The location was perfect for walking around and we ended up having a front row view for the firework celebration which we could see from our balcony.

Excellent location, very central. The room was very comfortable and spacious, had good wifi, a great shower and great air conditioning. The b&b itself was decorated very nicely and was absolutely immaculate. Great little touches like maps and restaurant recommendations etc. Breakfast was lovely with lots of different options. The best thing about Livingstone are the people. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming and incredibly helpful.

The location is just on the outside of the old city in Matera and within walking distance. It is literally around the corner from the entrance to to old city. The breakfast was incredible. This is a small B&B which is clean, quiet and lovely. We were in the Paris room which faced the front of the building. We initially thought it would be noisy, but turns out it was not. Room was large and comfortable. We only stayed one night, but which we had planned for at least two. Lots to see in Matera.

The host was wonderful, extremely friendly and helpful. She was very responsive and so lovely. The location was in walking distance of transport, the main square, restaurants, shops, parking and of course the ancient city of Matera. Breakfast each morning was delicious with a selection of options available.

Everything was perfect

Everything was perfect! Miriam greeted us very nicely, was very helpful and arranged a bit earlier check-in than usual. The "Paris" room we've stayed in is very modern and spacious. Spotlessly clean, complimentary water and coffee/tea in the room, small refrigerator. Breakfast, comparing to other b&bs in Italy, are really really good (no tricks with some random coupon on nearby cafes, etc). The location as well is extremely good, the center of the city is like few minutes by walk. Overall, great place to stay.
