I had a fantastic stay at the Sportsman's Valley Hotel. The room was extremely comfortable and offered beautiful views of the surrounding countryside – the perfect place to relax after a day in the office. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. I was prepared for my visit with several polite comprehensive text messages relating to access, room number, local amenities. Breakfast was absolutely lovely, everything freshly prepared using good quality produce, with a table overlooking the valley and hills beyond. I’d definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Nothing to fault it

Staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms looked exactly like the pictures and they were clean too. No pet smells or furs. Really happy to have supply to make tea/coffee/hot chocolate. Breakfast was nice and hot. Bathroom spacious and clean, sanitary disposal bags provided and hot shower.

Teeny weeny little fridge in the room, not sure what we could have stored in it ). Would have preferred breakfast to be served till 10 0'clock and not 9AM, however breakfast was nice and hot and chef was polite, thank you:).

A lovely old pub but with modern clean rooms. The room was bright, very clean, spacious & comfortable which was lovely after a long day travelling. The lad who checked us in couldn’t have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble & we were made to feel very welcome. We were on a one day round trip to visit a sick relative in hospital which was only a short drive away, so this was a perfect location for us. As it was Sunday and we’d missed the restaurant plus had hospital visits, we were able to order takeaway for delivery and eat it in the bar area which took the stress out of trying to find a nearby restaurant open on a Sunday evening. The lovely cooked breakfast the next morning also set us up for the long journey home. I will be staying again just because I liked it there! The views are also beautiful & hopefully next time we will be able to use the bar for a beverage or two! Very quiet location apart from the occasional train passing through the village station opposite, but it wasn’t intrusive

The breakfast is really worth the £8 for a full English. The staff are friendly and rooms are spotless. If you are not bothered about the bar, this is definitely a nice place to stay with the railway station opposite its very convenient. We will definitely return.

We came to Liskard to visit relatives, when we returned to the hotel each night apart from the Saturday, we found the bar in darkness around 21:00. It does state on the door that the bar opens until 'quiet' which we totally understand if there is nobody using the bar, which is lovely, but, when you get back and fancy a beer or something a little stronger it was a bit disappointing. So if you are booking here just bear in mind, you may come back and not be able to get a beer or glass of wine.

Lovely quiet country pub and very handy for my work the next day. The pub was buzzing on the night and the food served was excellent. The Room rate was very reasonable and the breakfast was clean and good quality. I stayed here a long time ago and not sure if it has changed hands, but the staff and whole experience was 1st class.

The breakfast was good and was served piping hot. The choice of bar snacks was good too. There was a list of outside vendors in the room so you could order food from other sources if you wanted.

The trains going past, because the hotel was right next to a railway line. However, the last train went past at just after 10.30 pm.

Breakfast was good. Individually cooked. I was well looked after Pub dinner was delicious - I recommend the African style fish special. Different and delicious. It is a family run hotel and the feeling of being cared for was great The location was perfect just off the A38 and lovely views from the bedroom of unspoilt countryside

I was travelling as a single so the double bed in my room was fine. If there had been two of us it would have been a bit crowded. I asked and they do have rooms with bigger beds so if travelling as a couple I recommend asking them.

Great location, just 200m off the A38 and immediately adjacent to Menheniot mainline railway station and with plenty of parking available in the pub car park. Very comfortable room with great facilities, decent shower and bath etc. Yummy sausage ciabatta kindly cooked fresh for me early as I had to leave at 7am, so couldn’t enjoy the no doubt delicious full breakfast. Will definitely return!

Nothing - all was great for my stay. I was warned in advance by the Sportsman’s team that the bar and restaurant are closed on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening so ate on the way (they kindly texted a full list of local options, of which there are plenty in Liskeard only a couple of miles away)

The hosts gave us a warm welcome! The food is delicious. The accommodation is spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. There is a very happy atmosphere here! The hotel is in an ideal location for walking and to go to many places of interest. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others to stay at the Sportsman's Valley and would return here for another stay

All the staff were friendly, helpful and very efficient. The food was really, really good - the Moroccan Fish was lovely. The room was clean, comfortable and fun. This is a great place to stay, I've already recommended it to friends who live locally and often have visitors. I'd definitely stay there again if I was in the area.

I wish I had been staying longer so I could have more meals there.
