This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at. We had the Queen's Chamber which was a delight: spacious, open, lovely view, huge bathroom with lots of takeaways including special extras such as shaving kit, shoe shine, toothbrush and toothpaste. Service was exceptional from the initial welcome at reception to the room and restaurant service, everyone was polite, friendly and gave real attention to comfort and detail. Food in restaurant for dinner very high quality and the breakfast excellent, we were also given a lunch pack for our journey the next day.

Nothing: genuinely fantastic stay,

Comfortable rooms, great breakfast included in price of room. Enjoyed being able to use pool as well and walk in the grounds. Great value buffet in restaurant for dinner although this seemed to be for the weekend only. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Multiple coffee areas with free drinks, fruit and biscuits were also much appreciated.

Horsley Towers was out of bounds the whole weekend due to private functions. Some confusion over meal arrangements for dinner as there was a bar and restaurant. Food at bar wasn’t as good as expected and quite expensive. Restaurant didn’t cater so well for children to be present in the evenings. WiFi wasn’t as reliable as expected for a place that is set up for conferences and business meetings.

I wanted to stay in Horsley so for me the location was perfect. I had a regular room rather than a deluxe so I was expecting a purpose built chain experience. The hotel itself was what I thought it would be but the setting is stunning! I was free to wander around and it was gorgeous! I discovered an outdoor gym and a dog and boot washing station which could be useful for those on a walking holiday with their furry friend. Inside, there was a bar which served food and a restaurant which has the same menu as the bar plus a 3 course buffet option. I opted for the buffet which was £22.50 and had a Chinese theme on the day I went. There was a meat, fish and vegan main course and there was a soup as a starter but in addition a fabulous salad bar. The chef was knowledgeable about allergies and gave me a separate main and guided me through the salad bar personally. There was also a gym and pool. The pool was a good size and well maintained. There was a little tuck shop for humans and dogs in the reception area. Within walking distance there is a small parade of local shops/coffee shop/restaurant and there is a lovely historic pub with beer garden opposite the entrance to the hotel grounds. The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable. The things that made this hotel stand out most were the hotel grounds and the staff. Every single member of staff I spoke to was friendly, helpful and approachable. They were at a level fitting of a luxury hotel which combined with the setting and the pool made my stay seem very luxurious for the price point. I’ll be back!!

The room itself was nothing special (but I wasn’t expecting it to be as I took the smallest, cheapest room available). The bathrooms could do with updating (but were clean and functional). No AC.

Location easy parking for three large vans. Everything you require in the room. Very clean and tidy , immaculate grounds. Breakfast was excellent with a very large choice.

Only two things. Our group paid cash for our drinks at the bar but the bar all evening had no change but the chap running the bar was very good and accommodating. We ordered food but my order when it came was completely different to what I ordered. The same chap at the bar straight away sorted the order out correctly and very quickly. Please do not let this put anyone off the above was rectified very quickly by the chap at the bar and we all had a great evening.

The dream of coming to stay at a historic estate was exciting. I was hoping to have a look at the towers... Well - I did not get to see this, apparently some events going on. Looked more like preparations (Friday night), hence a bit of disappointment. I had booked two rooms - one renovated, another not. The latter was a true source of amusement. Taking a shower was a true test of intelligence - nowhere have we ever seen such a system. Even getting to use the shower gel was no simple task. But having past the test, it was a room like any other. The refurbished rooms certainly looked worth the bit of extra money. Breakfast was truly abundant. The hit among many guests was clearly the pancake machine, well derserved.

In the comments sections I had specified I was looking forward to having a twin and a double. So that this would be possible I had booked a standard room and another more expensive room - having carefully read the Q&A I had the understanding this is what I should do. Well, they did not have it. I was explained that the more expensive room was still not the correct one followed by some hotel internal jargon. It was not pleasant. What I do give credit for - they asked the maintenance staff to twin the room which she did as fast as humanly possible. The bottom line - I would have appreciated a more clear explanation forehand.

Such a lovely location, with a beautiful gothic mansion and greenery next to the hotel. The hotel itself was clean and the staff was friendly and professional. We had breakfast included (buffet style where everyone can find something they like, coffees, juices and all was nice). We also used the pool - clean, big, perfect for swimming, warm). In the lobby you have free drinks (coffee machine, alternative milk options in the fridge ❤️, water) whole day around. The hotel is only 20 min from Box hill, where there are many nice walks and hikes. We will definitely return

The coffee stations and bar area were well stocked and kept clean. The food was delicious, great breakfast and we ate in the bar in the evenings. Really lovely staff on the bar in particular.

The pool was closed which wasn't communicated when we booked, we only heard of this after booking, also our room in the tower was not really worth the extra cost. The coffee stations and bar in the tower was always closed and we could not use it, we'd hoped to be able to have an evening drink in the nice surroundings in the tower but this was not the case as it was being used for a function. The noise from the evening events/glass bin being emptied did not feel like we were in a better spot than the cheaper rooms in the more modern complex. Also drunk evening guests smoking around the entrance to the tower when we returned late wasn't ideal. We did feel a bit forgotten about over there.

It was lovely to find that I had been upgraded to a larger room than usual and even more special to find a bottle of Prosecco on ice and two tokens for free cocktails! I felt very special and it really made my stay!

It is a pity that there is no "real" bread at breakfast, only sliced ultra processed white and "brown". I would appreciate a proper wholemeal loaf or wholemeal sourdough that one slices oneself. Similarly there are no whole cereals and seeds, only packet ultra processed cereals. Some seeds, dried fruits and nuts would be really helpful.

We didn't stay on the old part, but was told by reception staff that we had to ask for a room there prior, and only at certain times. We stayed in the newer annex. Lovely area, lovely grounds. Reception not quite were you expect it to be. Accidentally walked into a wedding reception, wandered around for a few mins before we were rudely and passive aggressively asked to leave by the MC who had been sat on his backside in another room. Pizza from the bar was massively over priced £16 and very poor quality. No where in the room to hang any clothes, hanging towels and clothes on the fire door hinge, not acceptable at any price range.

The staff from arrival to departure were frankly immense, Helyna,(forgive the spelling) and the other lady receptionist could not have been more welcoming, helpful and gracious. Then over to the bar and restaurant staff, Katie and Genevieve were a repeat of the first 2 team members, only more so. My partner and I were stressed as we had quite a traumatic journey. However these particular team members were jovial, patient and forgiving,(I looked like worzel gummidge upon arrival), they did not blink and treated us like Royalty. The same can be said of Brad In the restaurant , also absolutely exceptional in every way, greeting, service and helpfulness par excellence. Selina and Prem also deserve special mention, De Vere are fortunate to have such a fantastic set of employees. Also thanks to the chefs and serving team members as well as the cleaners, all truly great. Thank you all so much.

The only reason I am putting a mention here is that, at times, I felt the menu slightly limited, but the food provided was of an extremely high standard, faultless in fact.
