Spacious room. Comfortable bed. Hot shower - en suite. Beautiful view from window. Excellent natural light. Excellent breakfast. If stayed longer, flat rate of £20 for dog rather than nightly fee.

Because I only stayed one night, the dog rate was more expensive than what I've been used to for daily fees (£10). Slight noise from pub can be heard from room but nothing too crazy (people talking). May need a little renovation - sink had large cracks/areas of surface missing; remote had no back. No milk in room - had to access from main bar. Large and heavy key ring for door key.

We absolutely loved the accommodation (selected as a stop off near Box Hill on our Pilgrim's Way walk- there are regular buses to the accommodation from opposite the Stepping Stones pub, Box Hill). We had a lovely room with a view of the church - such an idylic village and accommodation, we were quite bowled over! Food was great in the evening too. Very helpful and friendly hosts. We are looking forward to visiting again. Staying here was a highlight of our holiday.

I got a great rate for the Hotel through Booking.com, and it was straight forward to find the property, which is in a hamlet close to Leatherhead. There is no car park, but we easily found a place to park on the street outside. We got a very warm welcome from the staff and locals in the bar, which was appreciated. The Inn is a very old property, bustling with traditional character and history. The room was immaculate and had everything we needed, including a very good coffee machine a very comfortable bed. I was a little concerned due to the freezing conditions outside, but the room was nice and warm. We had dinner in the bar by the roaring open fire, and the food was excellent. I had a Wild Boar terrine followed by a Cod Loin, and my wife had a steak, we really enjoyed the meal and service.

I thought the drinks at the bar were quite expensive for a pub, but this may be due to the location. My wife had scrambled eggs and mushrooms for breakfast, which she really enjoyed, however I was very disappointed with my Full English platter. I had to send it back as the baked beans were stone cold, when my plate returned I noticed that is was also missing the 'locally sourced sausage'. This was a shame as everything else during our stay had been very good, the young man who was serving apologised profusely and knocked 20% of the price of the breakfast which was appreciated. These things happen unfortunately, hence my rating scores.

I absolutely love this place. I’ve been coming nearly every year since 2016, and booking the same room too. The staff are always incredibly friendly and welcoming. The bar is very comfortable. The location is magical. I just love it.

I wish there were more vegetarian options on the main menu. But the one option they always have is absolutely delicious, and I understand there may not be a demand for veggie and vegan options.

The welcome from the staff was amazing the room was beautiful with lots of fresh air and natural light with gorgeous furnishings. Dinner was wonderful and the breaksfast was great too.

Slighlty disappointed that the bar didn't open for residents until 12 pm lunch time on the Saturday so we couldn't have a beer sat outside admiring the view of the lovely church whilst waiting for onward travel. We were on holiday so a more relaxed licence approach would have been preferrred , but not a deal breaker.

Beautiful building, with a lovely fireplace in the pub downstairs. The room shows a good balance between historical decor and modern comfort, it's very clean and well maintained and holds the comfiest bed.

It is an old building, so from the room you can hear everything inside and outside the building. Thankfully in early March the night was mostly quiet.

Location was great, room was lovely, staff super friendly especially the Italian waiter and waitress, so nice and cheerful and accommodating. Room was fairly quiet and very comfy we slept really well. Food is good.

Food is good but a bit pricey for what it is. Room was on discount when I booked I would have found it too expensive if I had paid the full price. It’s a nice room but small and a bit noisy as the entrance door is right behind and can be heard whenever people slam it + noise from the kitchen ventilation system through bathroom window. These noises all stoped around 10:30pm so we slept in blissful silence and really well.

The room was furnished and decorated to a high standard. The decor and ambiance in the pub was good. Breakfast was lovely.

The room was high standard, but the cups in the room were chipped… The restaurant had sold out of almost all dishes; salad of fish and chips were the only choices, and given the reviews I was surprised were of really poor quality. Breakfast the next morning was a very different experience; the food was well cooked and delicious. Although tea was brought to the table, a teabag in a cup with a cup of milk as they had ‘run out of milk jugs’. Strange mix of good and poor quality and lack of attention to detail.

We selected The Running Horses for our stay primarily because of its long history--over 400 years--as an inn. It was a great experience from start to finish. The facility was wonderful, authentic, and run like clockwork. It was only on our last day that we learned the inn is the 2023 winner of the National Pub & Bar of the Year Awards, and it shows from the professional staff, to the delicious and locally-sourced food and drink, and especially the welcoming atmosphere. Hopefully, we can return for another visit!

I cannot think of a single think we disliked.
