I love that this epic pub with amazing acomodation is based in middle of quiet village. At night time is so quiet and rooms are cosy. You can enjoy outdoor area and have few drinks. Food at restaurant is amazing. Spoke with Mark when booking a table for 2 of us, he just said... don't you worry we will look after you... They did just that, Max manager and bar staff went over and beyond to welcome us and help us enjoy every second of our time at Red Lion! Highly recommend this acomodation for anyone looking for epic place to run away from busy city.

Everything was top notch

Location in lovely walking country close to the Greensand Way. The friendly staff and excellent evening meal and real ale. We walked through the woods and across the fields from Betchworth rail station (you need a map and sense of direction), although I guess most others would arrive by car or bus (bus stop directly outside pub). Train direct to Gatwick airport.

The room, while very old and characterful, needs upgrading, as others have commented. No glasses for drinking water. Steps up to bathroom would be unsuitable for those with mobility issues.

A great location close by to places we were visiting. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. There was a plumbing problem on the first night but was addressed very quickly with no fuss and with no further issues. The cleaning lady was just lovely and nothing was too much when I enquired. The pub itself was so interesting with memorabilia everywhere and arty decoration. A cosy fire was lit in the evening and was a wonderful place to have dinner and a drink. Food choices were very good and it was lovely. We would definitely stay again when in the area

It was a little difficult to find the entrance in the dark but once we knew we just had to be prepared as we got nearer.

A great location not far from Reigate and you feel like your in the countryside with birds and squirrels. The room was a good size and bed was comfortable. Had a great meal in the dining room which doubled as relaxed and calm surround for pre dinner drinks. It had a nice fire on making the area cosy. Quite a bit of different memorabilia throughout the very old Hotel. Though we didn't use it, as it was cold, they have a great outside area to have a few drinks. Staff was very friendly and meals were lovely. Would come back again.

The toilet flush was very slow, though when mentioned to staff the management was quick to respond. Hard to see driveway in the dark when first visiting.

What an amazing place. Great accomodation 9 Mile's from gatwick airport. Way better, more interesting and entertaining than your average boring airport hotel! Room was lovely! In loft of an old barn and from the sounds of it a covid labour of love! Was warm at night as v hot second day but owners put second fan in without asking. Food great. Few little issues with comms between kitchen and front of house but nothing that wasn't sorted straight away without any issue. Thank you to everyone. Had a smashing weekend and will def return if flying or collecting from Gatwick again or indeed just having time away in lovely Surrey!

Nothing to dislike. Thanks Mark and team for a lively stay!

Lovely pub location. Food was great, best beef, mushroom and red wine pie we have had. Restaurant very busy on a Sunday so make sure to book. The pub garden is interesting with lots of plants and features. Nice to have a bath with plenty of hot water and the bed was comfortable.

The room was comfortable but needed a bit of maintenance and tlc as plug socket away from wall with screw not properly installed, worried to use it. Kettle could do with being de-scaled. We slept well but funny noises ?plumbing at odd times during night a bit disturbing. Small points but could be sorted.

Supper was very good, along with excellent service. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall a good experience and would stay there again. Recommended for an 'olde worlde' experience in a modern setting.

Young restaurant staff referring to 'older' people as 'guys/you guys'. More training about addressing a variety of customers would be a simple solution. Update of bathrooms, particularly showers would be appreciated.

The owner Mark and his staff were super welcoming. The pub and garden area were a magical welcome and we spent a good few hours enjoying the lovely facilities. The room was clean and had all the essentials. Thanks for providing a fan! The view over the cricket field from our room was fabulous.

Bathroom was perfectly clean and functional but could do with some modernising. But really nothing I didn't like.

Warm reception on arrival. Pleasant room in nice surroundings. A good bed. Nice extra touches. Warm. I would be happy to stay again.

Pillows a bit lumpy, hard, but that might be personal taste. Also, for me, the two steps up to access the front door were a challenge as I have a disability. If there was a rail to hold onto on the wall, that would make it a lot easier and less painful. They can be bought quite inexpensively and would make a difference.

Booked at the last minute after hurting my knee in a cycling event. Arrived late afternoon, with a very muddy bike and the staff were extremely helpful, making sure I could take my bike into my room so that I could leave early (as the secure bike shed would only be opened at 10am). The bed was very comfortable, and having a bath in the ensuite was very welcome after 100 miles of cycling! I had my evening meal in the pub, which was delicious, and all the staff were realy helpful.

Nothing not to like!
