The staff were very pleasant and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They had even put out a couple of bollards to ensure that we would have a parking space at the side of the property, right next to the entrance, which we really appreciated. Our room was clean and cosy, and the bed was very comfy. We really appreciated being able to simply walk downstairs to the restaurant, where a table was set up and ready for us, and we enjoyed a tasty meal. Breakfast the following morning was delicious - with a wide variety of options on offer. Once again, staff were very friendly and attentive, making our stay at The Five Bells very pleasant and homely. We would happily recommend it to other visitors.

Absolutely everything. Communication with Mary prior to our stay was great, always answered my messages quickly. Advised us where we can park, asking if we would like a table for dinner as the football was on and would be busy, unfortunately we didn’t because we had a wedding to go to. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome. Mary, David and Mary’s daughter ( so sorry we didn’t catch your name) are extremely friendly and hospitality. Nothing was too much bother for them. The room was lovely, cosy, clean and extremely well equipped with tea and coffee, extra blankets. We did want for anything. It’s an amazing homely pub. Lovely old building with all the original features. Really charming. A proper pub which are few and far between these days which is very sad.

We visited as was attending a wedding just down the road and we are so glad we decided to stay here. Staff were incredible and really friendly. Happy to help with anything and give recommendations for the local area. Nothing was too much and would happily go the extra mile. This included the bartenders, chefs, housekeeping and managers. Everyone was passionate about working there and you could tell they all love their jobs. Food was delicious as well and really good portion sizes for the price. Thankyou all so much!

Wish I could have stayed longer!

First of all, everything is so clean, it's the first thing I tend to look for when staying in hotels. The five bells was exceptional I must say. I found the bed very comfortable. The staff so helpful and friendly lots going on in the bar a real family fill to the bar area. A nice welcome even from the locals. I will most definitely be staying again. I have already recommended The five bells to friends and family. I look forward to my next stay.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Parking set aside for us which was helpful for when we arrived. Comfortable clean rooms, pub had a pleasant and welcoming family atmosphere. Great breakfast. Pancakes available as well as the usual cooked breakfast you’d expect. Very tasty! Quiet location so a good nights sleep was possible.

Less convenient having no en-suite with one room but as we had exclusive use of the adjacent bathroom it wasn’t a problem.

Very welcoming & friendly staff . Very comfortable clean room. With tea & coffee kettle aswell. Lovely atmosphere & restaurant. Beautiful old building in a beautiful village. Although we didn’t have much time to look around the village what we saw was great . Near to shops & fish & chips & Chinese take away . And free parking right outside the door. We had to leave early to get the ferry to Calais so we were given a lunch bag in which we could choose what sandwich we would like .a chocolate bar. Bag of crisps. An Apple & a can of drink. Which was left outside our door at 6am when we woke up . Which as great no hanging around waiting for check out ect . Plus only 30 minutes on the docks . Very easy to find . Will definitely stay again .

There was nothing to dislike only that our stay was to short due to our travel schedule.

Really welcoming atmosphere in the pub and from the staff. Amazing breakfast that set me up for the day. I really appreciated the communication before I came to make sure I knew the times the dining room was going to close and to check if I needed car parking. I would definitely recommend a stay to friends or colleagues.

Make sure you book taxis in advance if you need them as there arent taxi companies in the village.

A very cosey and typical English pub with a nice firepplace. The staff was very friendly and i got a warm wellcome. The room was so nice and warm with good beds. Food was good and breakfast plenty to run on the whole day! You’ll defenitely see me next time, if a room is avaliable offcourse 😉

Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast, lunch and was all delicious and plenty of choice. Make sure you are hungry when you order as portions are large, which suited us just fine 😊 room was super clean and comfortable.

Staff were very friendly and host was great and really helpful.

Didn't realise the bathroom for the room we were given was separate from the room and we needed to access it through the outside of our room. No direct access into the bathroom without leaving the room.
