Decor, ambiance, quirkiness, location, breakfast - all excellent. The staff were unobstrusive but very pleasant. Brandy and sweets were a nice touch. Room v comfortable and lots of attention to detail.

Room (room 8) was small, which is not a problem. But I did feel that at more than £250 it was expensive. The price I paid on booking.com far exceeded the price on the hotel's website. Also, I ordered a bottle of cava for my partner's birthday, to be waiting on arrival, but cancelled it the day before, via email. It was there when we arrived and I did not want to send it back after my partner had seen it, so we drank it. But I would have appreciated my email being attended to.

We stayed in the beautiful Room 1, very big and comfortable. Location was perfect on the quaint main street of Deal, just 5 minute walk from the train station and near all the shops and restaurants. The breakfast that is included is stunning, you order it a la carte. Loads of nice little touches throughout, tea and coffee on offer all day.

One of the best breakfasts I've ever had! Really friendly staff, couldn't feel more welcome :) The room was marvelous (great bed too!!). I always love a good boutique hotel and this one all expectations (and more). I would come back to Deal just to stay in The Rose once more or have a lovely diner/breakfast there.

It's quirky and stylist with great attention to detail. Loved the artwork and the staff were great.

The church bells through the night were a bit disruptive, but nothing you can do about that. Would have appreciated a couple more plug sockets and WiFi that doesn't drop out.

The location is very convenient for the railway station and (excellent) local winebars and restaurants. The rooms are tastefully decorated and well equipped. We liked the espresso coffee bar on the first floor landing, supplemented by a carafe of cognac. And the food is exceptionally good. If you take the breakfast option you have the run of the menu, including the best eggs benedict, all freshly made to order. So no scambling to make the best of a breakfast buffet depleted by early risers. Lunch and dinner offer truly excellent dishes. Staff are both friendly and helpful and genuinely go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and memorable. We loved it.

At first we were given a rather cramped room with no TV and little clothes hanging space. We also failed to recognise that the modern heating system actually needed to be turned on via valves of a kind I can't remember needing to use since the 60s. But once activated the heating was very effective. Staff remedied all problems with little prompting and relocated us for no extra charge, to our entire satisfaction. That's the way to do it!

The Rose is such a beautiful hotel - I'd wanted to visit for a long time and took the opportunity to stay in Deal after a friend's wedding in Sandwich. I was very much not disappointed, we had a really brilliant stay - the hotel is in a great location, very close to the seafront and on a lovely high street full of independent shops. We enjoyed a cocktail in the bar in the evening and the breakfast in the morning (with excellent bloody mary!) is fantastic.

Attentive staff. Great service and wonderful atmosphere. Lighting lovely and warm. Candles everywhere. Just perfect little touches. Loved the complimentary tea and cake in the afternoon. Great find.

Restaurant a bit on the expensive side.

Wonderful high street location, glorious interiors, we stayed in room 4 which was just amazing and had a huge bath and shower too, the food was great when it got it right.

No nappy bin in the baby changing toilet was poor. Some of the food was disappointing- a huge deal given that this is a massive selling point of the hotel. We asked for an extra towel which they said they’d bring up immediately but it never came. Some staff members were a bit cold rather than the full on warmth that I really appreciate when staying somewhere so special. No papers available in the morning which I would have expected. No dimmer switch for the bathroom so couldn’t have a super restful/atmospheric bath which was a shame.

The staff were professional and efficient, the rooms were clean, beds were comfy. The food was wonderful, we were a party of 6, we had 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners, there were no complaints at all, all cooked to a very high standard.

We booked 3 rooms, 2 standard and 1 larger, the smaller rooms had no tv, the larger had a curtain instead of a door to the bathroom.

A great boutique hotel, lovely rooms and garden terrace. The staff were amazing, we had dinner in the restaurant and some of our friends had some food intolerance requests. The staff could not be more helpful and the food was delicious all round. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay for dinner. Thank you for looking after us

The only thing which could have improved our stay would be a quicker turnaround at breakfast.
