Clean room, very spacious, and quiet. Perfect spot for a solo work trip.

It felt s little weird to not have a physical staff here. I could always reach someone by phone (seemed like a call center service), but it was strange there wasn't anyone here to greet guests. My first night there was an issue with the electrical outlets in my room, so the heater and chargers didn't work. I had to call the center and they went through a troubleshooting protocol that didn't make sense before they agreed to move my room. The new room was great, and overall, it was still a chill and quiet visit. Just what I was looking for!

A boutique hotel. Rooms large with amazingly large bathroom. Set in a very old building which has been made from a large house into hotel rooms. Very quiet location. Room has an iron available. No staff available on check in but an email on the day of arrival for your stay included a code to enter the building and code to enter your room. The town of Salinas is about 5 minutes away where you are able to buy meals. Fridge in room was an added bonus. Ironing facilities in room

All rooms are on an upper level with access only by very steep stairs.

Great staff and cool old house!

I know the house is old and I love that about this place, but there was mold on the shower curtain and under the anti splash guards on the tub. The ceiling had a large crack with bubbling paint. You can see where water leaks have happened and someone slapped a wad of plaster over the top. The wood around the windows is rotten and needing repair as well. I hope at some point they can invest some money in this beautiful old mansion and bring it back to its prime, because it’s a really cool house!

Amazing and unique gem. This is an old estate which was lovingly updated to accommodate travelers such as my wife and me during our journey up the Pacific Coast Highway. There were so many details that made us feel welcomed from a carafe of drinking water in our room to excellent coffee in the downstairs reception room. And, the icing on the cake was the availability of internet streaming services like Youtube and Netflix. My wife intends to plan a women's outing with her friends there. Thank you to owners and managers for maintaining this charming property.

I didn't like that we had to leave so early. Otherwise, we wouldn't change a thing.

This was not our first stay. The Chareau is a hidden gem. Quaint and amazingly perfect place to stay. The Chateau is a very well maintained, comfortable, very peaceful and quiet. The staff are very pleasant, kind and professional. Self check-in/check-out. However, your needs are met upon any request and/or needed. Every expectation met. Very delightful centrally located to many destination spots. Highly recommend this amazing accommodation for its affordability. Experience it now. Very popular and books favorably for many. Highly recommend.

We are very pleased on all levels. Our goto place to stay in the Monterey/Carmel area.

I liked the overall peacefulness at the chateau. The managers are very helpful and polite. I could help myself to coffee, filtered water, plates, glasses and silverware in a central area. My bed was very comfortable. My bathroom was spacious with lots of hot water. I had cable on the television and there was beautiful furniture in my room and throughout the chateau.

Space heaters instead of central heat. Outside furniture needs a bit of TLC. Chilly in public room.

Location was superb. Grounds were delightful. Rooms were wonderful, clean and well appointed. Communication from the owners/staff was grand. Thank you.

One bed had a perfect mattress, but was an interior room with no window- the room with the window had a mattress that Goldilocks would not appreciate. Sad because that's the room we wanted to sleep in. The window by the front door opens but had no screen (bugs), the window in the bedroom with a window has a partial screen (bugs can fly in)- which they did and was amusing reading a Kindle or iPad and having flying bugs land on the screen all night. At least they were nice bugs.

The "château" is in a confined residential compound (although we never saw a guard at the gate). There were no hotel employees - self check-in and detailed instructions how to get to the room. We stayed in the presidential suite. Hey, when do you get a presidential suite for under $5K?? The suite was on the top floor and really huge, there are no other rooms on that floor. The living room was enormous in size, the bed was very comfortable. Next to the old-fashioned bath tub there was a modern shower. The stay was very quiet and relaxing.

The fact that there was no hotel staff present was a little getting used to. It was a eery suddenly bumping into other guests in an otherwise totally empty house. The staircase to the presidential suite is really dangerous, especially with a suitcase. I wonder if ever a president would have stayed there with this staircase, probably not Mr. Biden... I think there was coffee in the lobby in the morning, but we had breakfast in town. Despite all this, we would choose the chateau again and it certainly comes cheaper than the hotels in Carmel...

Beautiful location. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was responsive and helpful when called over the phone. Nice to have a fridge and microwave to use as needed. Free coffee/tea was nice to have. Family managed so it felt more intimate and personal. PingPong table and pool table were entertaining.

No AC in room. Would like a garbage can/fridge/microwave available in bedroom instead of a communal space. No instructions for certain things like: using the common dishes and where to leave them, where to get fresh towels (not swapped daily), check-in/check-out process.

We liked the quietness and easy parking, Heater was very good and bed was comfortable. Also nice to have a mini fridge and water in the room as well coffee and tea downstairs. Staff were very responsive via text.

Cobwebs around windows and doors need some attention and cleaning under the bed would be good. Would have been nice to have some snacks and food available at breakfast time but not a big deal. Tv needs to be set up to work at all times (we were room 206). I would also suggest larger towels or extra.
