It was one of the best trips of life. I went to Cologne all alone for the concert. And the hostel brought amazing lovely people to me. The kitchen was the best room in the whole building. And free breakfast they offer can double down as free dinner or lunch (depends when you wake up) Staff is very friendly and answers all the questions one might have, as well as accommodate all the needs. It was unbelievably hot during my stay, and they provided fans for every room. Real good location, a few minutes away from the cathedral(by tram) and nearby grocery stores open till midnight. On the way to the city center from the hostel you'll find all the fun pubs and student districts and overall very memorable visit.

How hot it was in bathrooms. None of the bathrooms i had access to had windows, and it was unbelievably hard to even take a shower.

This hostel went to the effort of providing a bit of free food and great kitchen facilities. We stayed in a 4 person room with double bunk beds. The beds were all clean and comfortable, and it was a decent size room. The kitchen facilities provide everything you could want. Lots of friendly people too! I loved that it was so close to everything, especially the subway and the grocery stores!

A few small things - the bunk beds should be attached to the wall. I almost pulled it over on myself when attempting to climb to the top bunk. A second chair would be nice as well. The shower has a VERY short timer on it, you can barely get yourself wet before having to push it again.

The staff were amazing in helping with everything — from carrying my heavy luggage up four flights of stairs to giving me plenty of useful tips on how to make the most of my short stay. They explained the best ways to see the city and which public transport to use, which can be a confusing puzzle for travelers to Germany. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely lovely people.

My main problem was the bed — I was on the lower bunk and noticed that some of the wooden slats under the mattress of the upper bunk were broken, right above my head. Whenever the person above moved, the bed sagged down so much that it was honestly scary. I couldn’t sleep comfortably, worrying it might collapse on me in the middle of the night. I did feel the facility was a little on the pricey side for the quality.

Based on its price, the Weltempfänger Backpacker Hostel provides beyond-expectation services. The bathroom on the second floor is clean. The staff is very friendly and willing to help. There is always some bread, butter, jam, coffee and tea in the kitchen for you to grab an easy meal. The location is also good which is just next to the subway station. I lived in a 6 mix room. At the first night, there was only me as a girl in the room. At the second and third night, another girl came. Fortunately, all the guests in the room were polite. If you are a solo girl and somehow worried about the safety, I would suggest you to choose a female only room.

The people working there are really nice and welcoming ! The kitchen was a real CLEAN and proper kitchen. Well furnished as well. It might not seem much but this is not often the case in hostels. Quite many staple food you can use for free as well. They lend you a towel and a lock for free if you need. The hostel is pretty small, but it makes it feel like more like a big shared flat than a hostel, which was quite nice. The place is generally pretty clean, and the bathrooms in a really good state, with hot water coming very fast. The location is in a very nice area full of restaurants and shops, right outside a metro stop, everything is accessible by foot if you want.

The usb plugs next to our beds is a good idea, but i still can't figure out how it managed to get my phone to be less charged than before after the night so definitely something to look upon, it was quite frustrating ... The 10 seconds push buttons in the showers... If you have long hair this is a little nightmare to wash them, you will need a lot of patience ! The hostel is in a very lively area right next to a (very nice) bar, so if it's warm and you keep the windows open to not die because of the heat, you can expect a lot of noise and smoke smell coming in the room... But it closes a 1 am so after that you should be fine but be aware of that.

The hostel we stayed at was truly amazing! The location of the hostel is really easy and close. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by a warm and friendly atmosphere thank to Moritz. The staff was incredibly helpful and always greeted us with a smile, making us feel right at home. The environment was both peaceful and social, giving us the chance to have great conversations with people from different countries. They were also very meticulous about cleanliness—everything was well-organized and hygienic. If you’re looking for a cozy and comfortable stay, this is definitely the right place! There was also a kitchen which you can cook and use the things there -which are free-.If we ever come back, we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. If you have any question about the hostel or something else in Cologne you can ask me via instagram:ferideehan

Near to the ubahn station 3/4. You can have a nice walk to the park. In the common kitchen, milk, bread and fruit are provided for free. Free locker is also provided with bed already made for you. Easy to check in and have a stay.

There is a bar downstairs, so it can get noisy at night. You can also hear the beeping of the red light. There is a limited number of toilets on the first floor, with two rooms accommodating 2×4 guests but only one toilet available. There are no power sockets near the top bunk bed, only a USB socket (which, in my opinion, is not very common for charging cables nowadays).

The stay was very hospitable and the staff were very friendly. They provide you with a free locker+lock and a towel. The kitchen has a lot of amenities for you to cook and store food so that was convenient. There's also free coffee/tea and milk! Would have been nice if there was one more toilet on my floor. Note that there is no lift. The rooms have a wash basin. There is no plug point beside every bed, but there is a USB type charging port. The rooms don't have hooks to hang towels. The neighborhood is really chic with a lot of eateries and stores nearby, a bar right downstairs, and it is right next to the U-Bahn station. I would visit here again!

The location is convenient, in a local neighbourhood and right next to the Pius Strasse metro stop. Reception hrs are limited, but guests have a code for the main door and a key for the room. Guests can make breakfast there, with a coffee machine, bread, fresh cheese spread and good jam, a real plus.

Some dorm rooms have windows onto the street, so there will be noise especially weekends, that light sleepers need to keep in mind. The bathroom was tiny, but had the basics, shower and toilet.
