We booked this property very last minute, only the day before because we didn’t want to stay in Nuremberg a second night. We were thrilled with the change. The staff were excellent, the location was very quiet, and the beds were very comfortable. On top of that, we had dinner and breakfast here and the food was excellent. Definitely would recommend this place and would stay here if we returned to Rothenburg.

I have to post something… I’m very tall so I had to duck my head in a few places, and the floor in one of our bedrooms was fairly slanted. But these are petty complaints about a building that’s hundreds of years old!

Charming medieval style gast haus with lots of timber and decorative trimmings. Food was fabulous and hearty. The location was a minutes walk from the town square and 10 minutes from car park 4 which was just outside the town walls (6 euro a day to park instead of 20 euro if parked inside the town walls). The breakfast spread was amazing with something for everyone (unless you wanted a full cooked breakfast). Staff were welcoming and friendly. Room was clean if a little rustic but very comfortable. Bathroom was great.

This house has so much charm. The location is amazing, it's a block away from the main square and close to walking anywhere within the walled city. The owner is very friendly and breakfast was just right (bread, meats, cheeses, fruit and yogurt), which is typical of Germany. And the dining room was so quaint and adorable. We stayed in the top of the home with a private bathroom and a cute rooftop view. The beds were comfy and everything was so clean. We would definately stay again.

There are only stairs to go up, which was fine for us, but just a heads up if you can't do stairs and the head room gets very low as you get to the top. The floors were a bit squeaky and slanted in our room, but it was kind of endearing to an old home like this. One last thing, the shower was pretty small and the toilet is close to the wall in front of it, which was a little awkward, but managable.

I had a lovely stay at this BnB in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The atmosphere was warm and homey, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. The property reflected the charm of the town beautifully. The location was ideal—right in the center of the Old Town, yet on a quiet, peaceful street. The fresh, homemade breakfast was a highlight. Tip: Have dinner at their restaurant—it's popular for a reason, serving delicious local German dishes.

Very charming old world accommodations that complimented our Rothenburg stay. Did not hear guests in other rooms. Clean and just off the main street so no outside noise. Close to the Christmas market. Rooms have all the typical amenities. Owners are very responsive and easy to contact.

No one will sneak up the stairs - they are very creaky! Wasnt a big issue for us since there are not too many guest rooms that would create a lot of coming and going. The floor in our room was creaky too but you will learn which boards to step on! Our room was above the restaurant but we did not hear the diners. Cooking food smells do permeate the common area but did not enter our guest room. Took us a little while to get the room heating right but that is because we are used to numerical thermostats.

Stay was exceptional!! Service was the sweetest in all of Germany and the room was nice and clean; perfect for my stay of 2 nights. As a professional idiot getting there via Google Maps was a bit worrying because there's no listing for "Gästehaus Alter Keller;" there's only "Restaurant Alter Keller." Fear not, the guesthouse and restaurant are in the same building. You check in at the reception for the restaurant and from there they gave me the option to add dinner reservations and breakfast buffet (10€/person.) Highly recommend that breakfast. Bathroom is directly attached to the unit and private. The building is right in the city center off the main tourist road so you can immediately walk out into your day in the city.

These are more things guests should be aware of rather than genuine gripes about the property: Yes, the floors aren't completely even. It didn't bother me. You're staying in a building that's hundreds of years old, so I say that's part of the charm. I had to re-sign into the wifi network every time I went back to the hotel for some reason, but other than that it worked well. Room was a bit colder than I would have liked but it was no trouble at night, and it was also December, so that's kind of on me. I realized at the last minute that one of the glass bricks in the bathroom window was propped open as the only ventilation, so that's likely an easy fix.

The location was excellent, an easy walk from the train station. Our room was very clean, comfortable beds and a warm and cozy atmosphere. Our host was excellent and the breakfast offered a good selection of choices with very attentive service. We had dinner at the restaurant one night and what a treat! The food was excellent and service wonderful. Staying here was an amazing experience and great value for your money. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!!

This was my 5th or 6th trip to Rothenburg and this was my favorite in large part thanks to the room. It was a pleasure and I'll say honor to get a feel for the town staying in the historic building. I was expecting a smallish room but the room was very spacious, comfortable, and quiet. The staff were very helpful. The location was perfect--close to the key spots to visit but on a quiet side street. We didn't eat breakfast but we did eat one supper and the food was also fantastic.

I could not imagine a better room, no suggestions for improvement.

Very clean, great location right close to the center, good food as well inside the inn which was beautiful and traditionally rustic decorated. One of the waitresses in the restaurant was as well extremely polite.

Nothing really important, maybe just bit more adapting to customer requests at breakfast (they had a very good breakfast and also offered scrambled eggs, we asked however for fried eggs instead but they were unable to provide it even though it should be a normal breakfast request)

This property is within the city walls, which made it handy to take early morning walks without the crowds. We stayed two nights and had the opportunity to eat at the restaurant on Sunday night (the restaurant was closed on Monday). The Sunday dinner meal, as well as the breakfast served on Monday morning was extremely good. The hosts were very pleasant and hospitable. I would definitely recommend this location to others. There were 4 adults (two sisters and husbands), we reserved the family room (entryway with a shared bathroom plus two side by side bedrooms). This setup worked perfectly!
