We stay here quite a lot and always find it clean, comfortable and friendly. We love the rooms and bathrooms, since the renovation. Jude is always friendly on reception and we feel we know her when we arrive. We always have a friendly chat. We love the pub part and restaurant is also good.

I would say the coffee in a morning could be warmer, maybe have a very good machine to top up your own. Perhaps have a bowl of fresh small cut fruit to put on the yogurt and cereal if not choosing the cooked breakfast, which is very good by the way. There is though other uncut fruit eg banana and apple there.

Visited from Canada and stayed here with my family / relations for my mother's funeral - the Red Lion staff were amazing throughout our trip - their food was incredible and everything was friendly, warm, caring and charming - just what you need at a time like that. Amazing place and I highly recommend - just a bit tricky getting to into the place off the roundabout - be careful! Appreciated the free parking and everything was great. Also appreciated the fan in the room as I found it a little warmer than what I'm used to.

An optional anti slip mat for the tub in the bathroom would be helpful when showering - could be rolled up and placed in the cupboard when not in use but you literally really need one when showering.

It was so relaxing, rooms comfortable & well decorated, the room service was 11 out of 10 she couldn't do enough to make us feel comfortable little bars of chocolate a little detail with a big heart, all the staff friendly & happy to chat will definitely return

We thought we had booked for breakfast included in price but told it was room only, breakfast was excellent well worth the price we paid, but for some reason we didnt get seated with rest of guests having breakfast, maybe because paying & they wanted tables separated,would've been nice to interact with other guests, that's the only thing, it wasn't that big a deal just thought it strange with empty tables, staff in dining room lovely & friendly, they gave us details about the refurbishment of the hotel, it's quaint & well run, always had a buzzing atmosphere about it

Everything. From the moment we arrived the check in desk, the welcome by the woman on reception was extremely friendly, the check in was swift and felt very personal as they knew I'd got a table booked in the restaurant even though both were booked independently. The room was lovely, very cosy, nicely decorated and clean with nice touches and amenities included in the room. The food in the evening and breakfast was superb, and the front of house staff all very welcoming and attentive. Really can't speak highly enough of the stay.

First time staying here and it was amazing!! I took my boyfriend there for a birthday treat, the room was gorgeous, the whole hotel is just stunning. Super comfy beds, even the pillows are nice. (Usually hotels have rock hard pillows or feel worn down ones with no softness/puff so we end up bringing our own) but these were lovely pillows. Tv had loads of channels and upto date. Food at dinner was amazinggg and super affordable.

Breakfast - it was included in the price but clearly whoever they have on for breakfast doesn’t care much because it wasn’t good, underwhelming and it’s such a shame because dinner was amazing. We ordered two Benedict’s, my toast was burnt whereas my boyfriends wasn’t really toasted at all. His eggs were severely undercooked whereas mine were very very over. The Hollandais sauce tasted very off. Overall, breakfast was rubbish and brought down our experience.

Was good location for where family stay . Only Cumberland sausage available but rest off breakfast was good. When arrived we were booked into a room on the upstairs/no lift so when asked for a ground floor room due to stairs we were given a ground floor room will remember to request one on ground floor next time we book.

Was very warm in room so could of done with air-conditioning was July so had taken a fan with us anyway, we were offered another fan by staff but declined as we had our own . Will take my own pillow next time as prefer a flatter softer one due to shoulder and next injury .

Fab stay as ever in my adopted 'second home'. Wonderful staff who always do their best to make my stay as close to home as possible. Thank you as ever you know who you are! (Just wish you had proper Spanish Estrella as you used to have, but the Amstel just about makes up for this 😉 )

Sadly food not quite as good or VFM as it was prior to the menu change a few months back. Chef & Brewer's new menu are not as good with no pasta or curry options anymore. I think it's quite expensive too. This doesn't detract, absolutely my stay of choice for this area, there's nothing better.

Staff are lovely, bedrooms are very nicely decorated and I think the bathrooms are gorgeous, good amount of storage and a lot of plugs too. Breakfast was good for the price we paid to have it included

we stayed during a very hot weekend and air con or at least fans in the rooms would of been amazing, also mini fridges would be useful as all our water had turned warm and all my chocolate had melted by the first night. Location is a bit of a pain if you don’t drive and plan to go out a lot like we did as we stayed for a festival so taxis got expensive

Lovely receptionist - so helpful, kind, warm, and friendly. Restaurant food was delightful Decor was lovely Parking access is great Bed and bedding divine Bathroom was sheer bliss

Hard for international travelers to get luggage up the stairs - no lift. Pity about the National Grid power outage during my stay, but they did their best to accommodate well around it. Was so sad to cut my trip short here - it's an amazing location, though a wee bit tricky to get to. Highly recommend this place.

Beautiful refurbished room. Very comfortable. Gorgeous bathroom. Cafetiere provided...very nice! Little milk churn available so we could ask for fresh milk from the bar for our coffees in the room, nice touch. Most welcoming lady on reception (Jude) for the whole of our visit, attended to all of our needs. We will definitely be back. Thankyou!

The food at breakfast was nice but the lady on breakfast service seemed exasperated so it took the edge off our enjoyment as we just seemed to be in the way! and it wasn't even busy, maybe more staff on hand to help out required 🤔
