Room was clean and comfortable. Excellent choice of continental and cooked breakfast.

I had a couple of niggles regarding the somewhat small bathroom. The toilet pot was higher than normal and my legs dangled when I sat on it. I kept forgetting the lid wasn’t soft-close so it would make a loud clatter as a result. Wasn’t impressed with the situation of our room as the window faced another building. I was uncertain if it was a commercial or residential property but I felt it reduced the degree of privacy I had expected. Would have liked a room with a sea view but maybe we would’ve had to pay a lot more than £800 for 3 nights to get one.

The room, public areas and restaurant were lovely, just as expected. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food in the restaurant was very good.

The spa facility was a bit of a let down, some of the facilities were not working and there were no staff on hand to assist despite booking our time slot. I am glad we only took advantage of the free 1/2 hour session as if we had paid for a longer session it would have been a real disappointment. Maybe if we had booked one of the treatments which would have meant a member of staff was present it would have been a better experience.

Suite was lovely, good size, well decorated, lovely view. Breakfast was delicious. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. All the toiletries were lovely, nice to use a local company - and we really appreciated the candlle and soap gifts. Also, the Nespresso coffee machine was an unexpected bonus. Location great, near everything.

Unfortunately there was scaffolding on the right of the bay window blocking the view on one side from our room and when we arrived around 1230/1pm on Saturday 29th March (we were fortunate to gain early entry) the workers were still throwing bricks etc down the chute next to us which was pretty noisy - this did stop within an hour or so and didn't start again until we were checking out on the Sunday. The cocktail bar was expensive, and pretty quiet with no atmosphere - maybe too expensive for people to spend much time in? Parking was a bit of a faff, but we understand that its restricted in the town centre.

Just outside the train station and facing the port. Lovely hotel, large room with nice amenities, friendly staff, and a hearty breakfast to start your day!

I emailed the hotel to know more about their spa facilities but no one ever got back to me. Only reason I am not giving it 5 stars.

The staff were friendly, knowledgeable about the area and generally accommodating. Anything I asked, they responded quickly. The restaurant food was lovely--I cleaned my plate. I'm coeliac, and I was very pleased at the choices I had on the menu. Lovely soups, too! I went in pre-tourist season and the bar was quiet, a perfect spot for great cocktails while I worked on my laptop. Lovely atmosphere and a great view of the harbour to boot. I went the the spa every day for a pamper treatment and had three different therapists--Laurie, Grace, and Zoe, who were all superb in different ways. The spa was one of the reasons I booked this hotel and it exceeded expectations. The bar area was great for cocktails and had a lovely atmosphere with a great view of the harbour. Watching the sunset with a margarita in hand was a great way to bring in the evening. It was very easy to work there, too. As for location, it wasn't even a minute's walk from the train station, which was a pleasant surprise. Close to all the shops and restaurants, and an solid place from which to base yourself for exploring, or just checking out the local amenities. I'm already looking into my return in the autumn.

If I had to criticise, I'd say the single room I booked didn't have a hook to hang my coat and scarf, and there is certainly scope to provide this. I ended up having to hang these on the wardrobe door, which got in the way a little as the door is right there. Awkward. Also, I'd have liked to have a mini-fridge in the room for my water, but this wasn't a big deal. Staff said I could head down to reception and ask for cold every morning, but would be a pain so I just drank my pills with the water at room temperature.

We came from Denmark to celebrate our pearl wedding day - 30 years - and found your hotel to be our best option. We spent 2 nights. On arrival we found nice presents and congratulations from your team, highly appreciated 🙏 We had afternoon spa and massage together and enjoyed your other facilities during our stay: an excellent restaurant, view of the harbour sitting outside or inside the bar, your nice and friendly staff from all over the world ❤️ as well as a short walking distance to the rest of all nice offers of Oban. We would love to stay there again

Parking nearby outside We would have loved a little more time in Oban

The Perle Hotel Oban is a lovely hotel located in the centre of Oban within a short walk of the railway station and ferry terminal. We stayed for two nights and had a very pleasant stay. Staff were friendly and helpful and we did make use of the 30 minutes free access to the spa for guests. This wasn't as big as I imagined it was going to be but it did give us time to chill out. The breakfast was very nice as was the restaurant. We ate in the hotel on our second night and staff were very polite and understanding when my husbands steak was not cooked as requested. This was swiftly rectified. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Oban and if you are lucky enough to be able to obtain one of the few parking bays they have in the nearby car park it is an added bonus.

In a superb location and our room overlooked the harbour, very clean hotel. Good breakfast

The parking is a pain but here's something that wasnt made clear and I advise doing. Ring the hotel and ask for a parking space on the Rockfield centre,. There are only about 6 spaces that are reserved for hotel guests and it costs £10 a day which is well worth it as you can come and go as you please and know that you will have a parking space when you come back. It's an expensive place to stay.

Location and views

Breakfast was okish but service was a bit patchy, eg You're only asked if you want tea or coffee, you need to ask for toast then ask for butter then ask for milk ! Cold breakfast a bit basic with limited choices, fruit salad was soaked in orange juice which my wife is allergic to, asked for some fruit without orange but never got it yet. In general some staff seemed bored and had a depressed appearance although reacted ok when you asked anything. Maybe needs more staff training to try and really be a four star hotel

We had a fantastic couple of days here. The reception staff were probably the best we have ever met, so helpful and friendly. In a hotel where parking is an issue due to its location, they offered excellent advice and assistance. The rooms were lovely and well appointed. The breakfasts were amazing as was dinner in the restaurant. The restaurant staff were very attentive and food excellent. The Haddock and chips were the best I've ever had. The view from the front over the harbour is beautiful, and air was quite bracing. The central location is perfect for the own center, distillery and for access to the ferry port only a three minute drive away.
