The clue is in the name: "Kongress" is German for "Conference". This is basically a large (600+ room) hotel catering to the conference market for most of the year and offering accommodation for the Festival in the summer. It is extremely efficient - a shuttle bus to the Festspielhaus and back, wonderfully efficient breakfast, charming and capable people on reception etc. The restaurant is excellent - fantastic German food (pork shoulder highly recommended), efficient and friendly staff. The bar is also good.
The biggest gripe was the lack of a kettle and tea/coffee making facilities and an iron/ironing board in the room. Other reviewers have picked up on this but the hotel management seem to take no notice. Yes, there's a very old trouser press, but you can't use it for other types of clothing. It's not unreasonably to want a coffee in the room. The rooms are sparse, not really intended for any length of occupancy, but that's fine - for the price, they were perfectly ok and they were spotlessly clean. The aircon works well and, even better, you can open the windows fully! The hotel offers laundry but it's eye-wateringly expensive. It cost very little more to buy some more clothes and post the used ones back home.

The "high season" of this hotel is no doubt the Bayreuth Festival for Wagner's operas. We reserved this hotel specifically for this reason. It is about 20 min walking distance to the Festival House, but the hotel offers free shuttle every day to the event. I don't mind walking back after each opera. While the hotel might be on the "expensive" side, (which one isn't during this high season"?), it offers very nice buffet style breakfast for opera-goers, as well as some refreshment and drinks before the opera starts every day. The room is adequate, with AC which is nice if you happen to come during the hot days, and a small refrigerator. Again, you are not expecting valued pricing during the high season, so we have managed our expectations. The front desk ladies are very friendly and helpful when we requested a room change. Lastly, the hotel offers free parking which is nice since we prefer driving in German countryside.
Just a little bit far for some physically challenged gray-haired folks. It also takes a while to walk to the town center, which is worth visiting, including the Wagner Museum.

This is my second time staying at Arvena Kongress, the first was in 2022; both was during the Bayreuth Festspiele. This hotel seems to be one of the hotels of choice in the town for the festival, since almost all guests are attending the opera (Bayreuth is probably a curious choice to visit in the summer if you're not there for the festival, since prices are higher then). The hotel does many things especially for the festival season, including a reception of free pouring prosecco and other soft drinks with light snacks 2hrs before the performance; there is a free dedicated coach bus that runs 1hr leading up to the performance that will take you up the hill to the Festspielhaus, which saves you uphill steps (and also this old time-y antique looking wagon that is much smaller and starts trips 2hrs before the performance); you can also reserve to have dinner on return in the evening (for extra charge) after the opera, which is convenient because there are only so many restaurants in town open after 10pm and willing to take festival guests late - you pay for this "convenience" of course, because the food is mediocre and somewhat expensive. The breakfast is rather nice for a European standard, there is an entire table of all the different breads you could want, cold meats/cheese, fruit, yogurt, musli, eggs/bratwurst/bacon, and an egg cooking station; the ubiquitous free flowing prosecco is there again, so you can drink mimosas to your heart's content every morning; and as the morning goes on, I think around 11am, more hot foods are brought out as part of a brunch offering, for those sleeping in. I do believe this extended breakfast offering is a special thing just for the festival season, however. The room is comfortable for 2 at a good size, very clean, with mini fridge, small tv, free bottled water, and little packets of shoe sponge, sewing kit, Emory board (these you don't find at too many hotels these days).
The hotel is aging and doesn't look updated since the 90s. While the room is comfortable, it also has the aesthetic of the late 80s; i would describe the room as very similar to the quality of an Ibis, fairly basic but functional. i was glad this time staying that they've upgraded to blackout curtains for the windows and a more chic light gray duvet. Despite being a 4-star property, there really aren't many facilities in the hotel like pool or gym; there is a sauna but you have to book in advance so I never bothered either visit i stayed. Location is ok, about 13min walk from the train station, but 5-7min from Altstadt.

1. breakfast/brunch buffet, before-opera aperitif (delicious fruits !) 2. numerous shelves and hangers in the room 3. spacious bathroom 4. a voucher for a drink in the hotel bar if you skip cleaning during your stay 5. complimentary water in the room, but tap water is very good too.
1. free toiletries means only liquid soap and shower gel/shampoo 2-in-1 attached to the wall in the bathroom, nothing else at the reception. also in the room are Q tips, nail files, sewing kit and shoe buffers. 2. squeaking bathroom door in room 224 needed some oil. 3. TV channels are all in German with no possibility to change anything/chose original verison via remote. 4. bathtubs at least partially should be replaced by walk-in showers, considering the clientele during the Festival, it is probably the case on other floors, could not verify.

I often go to this hotel during the Wagner festival as it perfectly fits my needs during the festival. This is conveniently located between the Festspielhaus, the main train station, and the city center. Moreover, everything is organized around the festival during that period, which is very convenient and enjoyable. The breakfast buffet in the morning is fantastic.
The price is a bit steep during the festival, although the same criticism applies to the other hotels in Bayreuth.

I stayed at this hotel for the Wagner festival. It's excellently located, being only 15 mins by foot to the Festspielhaus. The hotel also provides a bus service to the theatre; this was especially helpful for the afternoon performances when it was hot. My room was spacious and clean (I had a junior suite). The food was excellent, everything from the brunch buffet to post-opera dining with plenty of waiting staff who were very helpful and attentive. Id you're in Bayreuth for the Wagner I'd recommend this place 100% and will definitely be staying here again.
Front desk and check-in was a bit haphazard. Not a complaint as such, just that the staff could have been a little bit more on the ball. The bed was old. It was perfectly fine to sleep on but in comparison to other recent hotel stays in Germany I thought it could be better.

The breakfast is superb, catering for every taste. The friendly, courteous staff make sure that the supply doesn’t run out and are very attentive at clearing away used dishes. The ladies who clean the rooms are excellent. They always ensured that the time suited us and gave us a friendly greeting in passing.
Nothing. The hotel is very experienced in looking after the many visitors who come for the Festival and has perfected it over many years. The hotel is pleasantly quiet and comfortable, staff are welcoming and professional and do their best to help guests enjoy their stay.

A/C was fine. The room was spacious enough and comfortable. Breakfast had many options and very good. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The bottle of the body soap was big enough, but bodysoap itself was so scant that we two could not use it comfortably on some days. We could not change the power of the hair dryer, a little bit nuisance. We were more comfortable if it had more drawers in the room.

Wonderful breakfast. And it turned into a delicious brunch about 11:00AM. They had transportation to the operas in a classic bus to get there, and a regular but to bring us back. And while we were waiting to go to the operas, they had sparkling wine, coffee, and lots of pastries and such in the lobby, to get of off to a good start. Also, it's within walking distance of the Festival Theater.
All good.

Hotel caters Extra to Opera attendees which are unexpected and remarkable. They include a brunch from 11.00am to 12.30pm and ample snack/ drink at the lobby from 2.00pm. The main bus comes in around 3.00pm . Free service,in time for the program at 4.00pm. The same bus will return after the performance for 5 euros. Breakfast and service is of highest quality. Front desk staff very accommodating and useful with local information.
None.
