We have been to Kirkby Lonsdale a few times so love the location, the pub itself is lovely, staff are very welcoming, our room was small, number 9 but adequate, very clean and the bed was super comfortable. Breakfast was delish, my husband had the full English, I had poached egg on toast, hats off to the chef, eggs were perfect, hot and runny, gorgeous. Toast too, came hot, so all in all brekky was 10 out of 10. Our room was very warm, that's our only grip but as it was -3 outside, I suppose they were keeping us warm so can't really complain about that. Great stay, great staff, great food. We will be back. Thank you 😊

Staff on arrival very friendly and helpful. We were shown to our room and helped with our bags upstairs. The room was delightful, clean and very well appointed. The bathroom was splendid with a high quality selection of bath products from a local producer. Breakfast was good, less good for vegetarian I would say. Overall the breakfast choices were not extensive.
The Sun inn is a wonderful place to stay. We have stayed before and would very gladly stay again in the future.

Everything was lovely , we have stayed before and it is our go to place when visiting KL. Great staff and another warm welcome . Breakfast was amazing and the room comfortable and quiet .
At breakfast there was a really rude man who proceeded to have a very loud and boastful teams meeting . Disruptive and no reason why he couldn’t have completed the meeting in his room . Maybe a polite notice stating no work meetings during dining hours . Just plain rude ! The staff didn’t say anything which is a shame !

The excellent evening meal and breakfast made our stay. The quality was very good, very well presented and delicious.
Unsure which rooms accepted dogs whilst I don’t have an issue with people travelling with dogs we would prefer to know we could stay in a room that did not accept dogs. Happy in the bar etc but not in bedroom but understand the demand for this. Our room was very clean. Maybe some milk sachets in the room as fancied an early cup of tea but forgot to ask for the fresh milk prior to going to bed. Overall we were very happy.

This is a lovely old inn with a very comfortable room including a large soaking tub. The cooked breakfast was superb with many starters including fresh fruit and porridge. The pub offered a superb dinner option.
The pub played a very short playlist on repeat which was audible in our room. This was not great music, especially in AM where it was instrumental covers, and the rapid repeat was not enjoyable.

Breakfast was fab on the 3 mornings of my stay . I had an evening meal at the hotel on my last evening and it was a delicious meal in a lovely setting (dining room) with very attentive staff. My room had all that I needed and when I wanted anything else the staff freely provided it , such as milk for my room.
I understand it is based on demand and my 3 night stay was made via booking.com and not with the hotel direct but I really was agitated that the price for the fri and sat of my 3 night stay for the same room was so much more than my first nights stay (Thursday). Surely a block booking of 3 nights should not be subject to such a hike in price because part of the stay is over a weekend. Is this normal practice for all hotels or is it down to booking.com? The hotel, staff and food were excellent , so I was very happy with my stay but the price difference annoyed me .

Stayed on a Tuesday when kitchen closed, but breakfast cooked freshly and excellent. Room was compact with enormous comfy bed and well set out bathroom. This is our sixth or seventh stay in the past decade, our favoured stop on long drives from the south west to Scotland. We have never been disappointed , even though it changed hands a few years ago. The welcome and attention to details remains first rate. Look forward to next visit when we hope to get dinner!
There is no parking, just unloading by hotel. The reception issue a free permit for local park, about 200 yards away.. no hardship!

We had breakfast on 3 days which was good and dinner one evening which was very good. Staff very welcoming. Good location. Room was very comfortable if small, it was the standard. In keeping with lots of old inns there are plenty of opportunities for the taller person to hit their head- taller than the average person from the period Car parking has been thought through as there is none on sight although there is one tight drop off space off the main street. Parking for the stay is in a public car park a short walk away for which the inn gives you a windscreen pass to display to be returned when you check out
This may be a budget thing but the quality of the natural yoghurt needs to be better, too thin and runny and also the bread. The far breakfast / dining room, where you are put if you don't have a dog, was cold.

The room was immaculate and extremely comfortable, with complimentary tea coffee hot chocolate, water and cookies. But what really outshone everything else was the Staff's quick, calm and professional response to the fire across the road. We were evacuated quickly and calmy and kept in the loop as to what was available to us and where, and I was very quickly contacted when it was deemed safe to re-enter the building to retrieve my belongings. Thank you very much!

The whole experience of our stay at the Sun Inn was excellent from beginning to end. Situated in the middle of Kirkby Lonsdale, drive to the side of the Inn where you can drop off luggage and receive a parking pass for overnight free parking in the car parks. Lovely room, comfy bed, excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Thoroughly recommended. We'll definitely be back.
