This beautiful property is away from hustle and bustle of Alona town (5-6km away). It is perched on a slope facing the sea. The landscaping reminds me of Italian / French farm stay with a stone slabs leading to the beach. Their complimentary breakfast is one of the best I have in a hotel stay - freshly pressed juice, cut fruits, good selection of breakfast menu. They start breakfast early too ! (6am) and offer on-the-go sandwiches (tasty!). Their restaurant food is quite good (beautifully presented) - tip : must try their desserts- all good ! Had a connecting room facing the pool. Beds are comfortable and clean. A few art pieces decorated the room and feels homely. Pool is great for dipping and looking at stars at nights (magical). They have a few free recreational facilities like kayak, darts board, table tennis - just speak with the staff. Most importantly, the beach is quiet and has an amazing powder like sand. Their 3rd floor library is beautiful and has a good selection of books. Good place to chill out with constant sea breeze.. Only downside is , there are sea grass in the sea - just wear aqua shoes and you will be fine. Water is like all of Bohol - crystal like clear.

There is serenity, calm and beauty that cannot be replicated with luxury- I think it’s an art to create a place like this. The old library with the view of the ocean is magical; staff are incredibly kind and helpful; the menu has a great variety and everything we tried was really good; the pool..the beach…the flowers…the kayaks…all just perfect if you need a proper break from reality and truly relax.
The place is perfect!

I don't even know how to begin to praise this resort. We arrived at night and once the gate opened, everything was decorated with lights, and walking into the property felt like we were in a dream. They have a beautiful pool, vegetable garden, boutique shop, games area, art gallery, and more that we probably did not have time to explore in the 2 days we were there. But everything you set your eye on in this place is a work of art in itself. "Attention to detail" is an understatement. The staff was wonderful, the food was delicious, and everything felt luxurious. The cost is super reasonable for what you get. I wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you so much for this experience.
The beach in front is not the best but 10 minutes down the road it is better, there are bugs in the room and big lizards around (of course it is to be expected when you are in nature! just be prepared so you are not shocked), and I was a bit disappointed that the services suggested by the hotel were so marked up. E.g. scooter rental for 800 pesos, when the going rate is 500-600. Actually we got a good scooter on our own for 400 by the beach... They called a trike for 400 each way to go to the bridge, about 20 minutes. We paid 1500 for a 2.5-3 hr ride the day before on our own. Please don't take advantage just because guests can't make their own phone calls to get a proper deal, it is not worth it to leave a bitter taste when everything else is perfect.

I liked everything about the resort: the Filipiniana furniture, art and decoration; the friendly and helpful staff; the private beach; the spacious rooms; the pool; the art gallery; the little store/boutique; the library; the views to the beach; and the main common area is like a house.
Because it is secluded the only way to get there is by hire car or tricycle or if coming from an airport or seaport, they do arrange for their complimentary bus to pick you up and drop you back at the ports.

This was our second time visiting Amarela to celebrate our honeymoon, we spent 10 days here. The staff were amazing, beyond the beautiful surrounds - private beach, pool and art museum. We are most happy with the staff, they bent over backwards to ensure we could enjoy vegan meals and we are so grateful! What we enjoyed during our stay was the peace and quiet and spending our time in the beautiful spaces that the staff continuously maintain. We will always come back to Amarela whenever we visit the Philippines!
Two minor things, the laundry is very expensive - we would recommend going into Alona beach to find a place to do your laundry. Second of all, the bathroom seems a little outdated but this was extremely minor and we didn’t consider this an issue

The hotel is eco friendly and built from local products and is quite special . The pool is delightful, perfect temperature and overlooks gardens and the beach . The outdoor massage was very relaxing. There is a white sandy beach, with basic beds that are adequate. You can walk to a few local bars etc. The rooms are comfortable and the property is spotless. We ate at the hotel the first night and the food was very good. It was a 10 mins tuk tuk ride to Alona beach where we spent the other nights , visiting restaurants and bars . The hotel arranged a private driver for us and we visited Lonoc cruise and Chocolate Hills which was amazing. We really enjoyed our stay .
Beach beds not comfortable but part of allure’ of the property

Clean lots to like many amenities for kids not too far walk on beach to really nice swimming beach (beach in front can’t really swim). Wouldn’t pay upgrade for room view as most even floor seem to have view and pretty small balconies with tiny bench you don’t want to spend too much time on anyway. Gorgeous property though. Love dvd library and games to play with kids who get bored easily. On whole great would stay again. Only snafu was laundry so expensive and they messed up by not getting back to me in day. But small thing. Great restaurant too.
A bit on expensive side for laundry and food.

Excellent breakfast (not buffet, good amount for an adult, comes with fresh juice & eggs), really kind/helpful staffs, nice swimming pool running till 10 pm, wonderful beach to relax or free cayaking. Everything was just perfect for a family vacation. The location is far enough from Alona (200 peso tricycle ride, 10 to 15 min.) or other busy areas. So it's noise free. This might be little unformfortable for someone. But it was advantage for us as a family tourist. Restaurant serves nice foods. We really enjoyed local foods especially and no need to try other places around Alona.
Nothing! It's about us - stayed 4 days but it was not enough to enjoy all facilities of Amarela. They had an art gallery which we should try next time.

Breakfast very good, well presented, plenty as you can eat, fresh made and kept warm. Personal qualified, happy and pleasant. About beach very beautiful, with services, they will bring your drinks to the beach and is supervised by security guy. Access to small boats if you want to go a little bit far for swimming. And also the history tour that exists on the propriety. Well presented by a tour guide, with plenty of details.
Because we stayed 4 days we need to wash our clothes, unfortunately is very expensive to wash so we need to find another way, apart of that was just perfect for me and my family. I wished to stay longer.

Private beach Swimming pool The room is very cleaned Transfer to airport/ferry is included
Hotel charges high price for anything extra (we paid 2000 pesos for laundery/pressing and we did not ask for the pressing) Better to book yourself the tricycle as hotel will try to take advantage and charge higher prices.. (they have tried it with us) Restaurant prices are on the high end, food is good though. You can find plenty of local stalls by walking on the beaches
