Myself and a friend spent 3 nights here, specifically to see the castle. The owners were amazing, they could not do enough for us, very informative about the area. Breakfast was utterly delicious, presentation was second to none. When we visited evening meals were unavailable, but there are several options with just a couple of minutes walk. One evening we asked if we could have some of our own food in the lounge area, it was only cheese and biscuits, as we didn't feel like eating out again, but they laid a table up for us rather tha have it on our laps, and supplied glasses for our own wine as the bar was also not open. I think this was due to being early in the year and the season hadn't started. The owners could not have accommodated us more. Dunster itself is small but well worth a visit, especially with the castle. We also visited surrounding villages, watchet, Porlock, blue anchor Bay. Dunster also have some nice walks, so if your visiting head down a side street and see where it takes you. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

The breakfast (pre-ordered) was very good indeed, with one (minor) exception. The delicious fresh fruit included with the yogurt had not been prepared, in that the tops of the strawberries and stalks of the cherries had to be removed by hand, which was a bit messy as they were already on the yogurt. Everything else - scrambled egg, smoked salmon, toast and hot and cold drinks - was lovely. The door to our room was off the courtyard, which was great, as we could come and go without having to walk through the hotel or disturb other guests.

The traffic noise adjacent to our room seemed rather intrusive, both late at night (after 10:00pm) and early morning (from about 5:30am). It seemed that our wonderful hosts had been led (by Booking.com?) to believe we had requested a downstairs room, which we were unaware of.

Really nice and centrally located family owned hotel. This hotel is located on the main street of Dunster, close to coffee shops, restaurants and a deli. The common areas were cosy and there was a small car park in the inner yard. The complimentary breakfast was superb and well presented. Everything was clean and we slept well. The staff was friendly and we had great chats with the owners.

Our room was a little small, but according to the owner guests are often bumped up to larger rooms, however this time there were no other rooms available.

Lisa & John were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room, "The Yarn Market" was large and comfortable with a very comfortable bed and a superb shower, and the view from our window on to the High Street was a bonus. Breakfast was superbly cooked and delicious, not serving dinner was not a problem for us as there are many great places nearby and Lisa & John are happy to reommend. Being able to park behind the hotel was a big plus. We hope to be back very soon

Nothing, for us everything was perfect.

Breakfasts and the evening meal we had (roast dinner) were excellent. John and Linda are lovely people and willing to put themselves out to make my stay enjoyable.⁷ Anything I have scored slightly lower is only because this is not really an accessible room. But I enjoyed my stay in Dovecote room.

I'm a wheelchair user, and struggled to get into the bathroom because of a step. I couldn't access the main hotel alone because of step, but the owners provided a ramp and helped me in.

Lovely welcome from the family, easy atmosphere and loved that we could take our own alcohol and food, but use all hotel beautiful lounge and dining facilities as we wanted, with a fridge to keep everything we wanted in, too!! We could even order in a takeaway and eat in the dining room if we wanted too, and they would set a table to eat it on!!Fabulous breakfast each morning - we certainly didn't need much else through the day. Lovely room, everywhere was beautifully decorated and furnished, and felt really homely and comfortable. We loved it, thank you!!! - oh, and parking in the village was a eeal bonus

Freindly polite service. The owners were accomadating to make our stay in Dunster a great experience. We wanted to leave the motorbike and our kit at the hotel whilst we visited the castle. This was no trouble and gave us a safe place to leave the bike off of the street. Breakfast was fantastic and served in a fine and relaxing atmosphere. The room and bed was comfortable and clean. Nice touch with some complimentary sherry in the room.

The only slight negative was the room was a little warm.

The "hotel" is actually run as a B&B with minimum staffing. I wondered how itwould work but the owners are really friendly and helpful and we lacked nothing. The hotel itself is really comfortable and, despite being old, smells fresh. Breakfast was pre-ordered which meant choosing a time but it arrived within a few minutes of us sitting at the table, which was really nice. The food was really great with a wide choice and perfectly-cooked eggs!!! Car park was good but the entrance would not suit a wide car like a Ferrari

As a B&B, it was lovely. Because it uses "Hotel" in its title, one couple were dissatified that the bar was not manned but the owners were so helpful that I suspect that, if they had been called, they would have manned the bar.

My parents, my little dog and I had a lovely stay here. The hosts were genuinely friendly, warm-hearted people who obviously put a lot of love into the place. We were able to park securely off the street, and the hotel met my request to give my parents a ground floor flat so they didn't have to climb up stairs etc. Meanwhile me and my dog had a great time and a lovely sleep in our room upstairs, we put some of our road trip provisions in the fridge that's available to all the guests. A complementary drop of sherry in the room made us feel very looked after. Breakfast was delicious, served with a smile and my dog even got her own little serving of bacon :) Very short walk to the castle - with beautiful, ancient structures and woodland to explore.

Not the fault of the hosts but as they explained, they have had to turn their bar into a bottle-only service and they don't serve food outside of breakfast time anymore, this is due to lack of available staff in the area. We had some great suggestions instead which were more than adequate and within easy walking distance.

The hotel is in a wonderful location at the foot of the hill with the castle on top. The owners were both lovely, the hotel decor was quirky and the attention to detail across the whole experience was excellent. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated and there were some lovely welcome treats. The breakfast was superb not only in taste but also in presentation. We placed our order the evening before and the food and drink started rolling out almost as soon as we sat down. There was a good choice on the breakfast menu and you were able to choose whatever you wanted.
