Excellent location for Derby rail station - around 8 minutes walk. There are a choice of eating outlets in the area eg Harvester, Indian food. My room was on the third floor, and the sound proofing was good. The room was a good size and you could open the window for a little air. The room was very clean. The staff are excellent - attentive and helpful. I needed a taxi booked for a given time, and that went smoothly. Reasonable choice of food at breakfast. Again the staff were promptly clearing away and cleaning tables so there were clean places to sit, and replenishing supplies.

The choice of food was mostly high calorie and processed. I had to battle with the controls on the shower to get the right temperature - I think there is a delay between making an adjustment and the temperature actually changing. The room was dark in terms of natural light.

Disabled bathroom in the accessibility room. Staff were all lovely friendly and courteous. Good choice of freshly cooked breakfast

We didn’t like the fact that there was only a small double bed in the accessibility room. Not all disabled people travel with their spouses - some may be carers. A twin bedded option would have been better. Also the bed was very near to the wall making it difficult for my disabled husband to get in and out of his side of the bed and up onto his stick. It’s a shame because we always book these rooms when we travel including the ones in Europe and we’ve never had these problems before. It did spoil our stay a bit.

Great value and convenient location. Lots of car parking space and friendly staff. Liked the late night bar which was reasonably priced. Room for 2 adults and 2 kids (pull out sofa bed) and still had enough space to move around

Paying for car parking given location (out of town) and screen to pay in foyer of hotel - didn't realise I could pay the reduced price if I just went to reception so could be better signposted eg if staying at hotel, lease go straight to reception to pay for car park Greater vegetarian breakfast menu (eg vegetarian sausage, bacon etc.) would be my only comment but a good selection of continental breakfast items

Great to have a restaurant and small bar. Being single and on my own meant you didn’t have to go out at night in the dark. Great breakfast. Rooms clean and warm.

Just one small thing - when you sit on your own to eat in the restaurant a small card in the wooden sauce box with ‘Table Occupied’ would be great. Even though I had set my table with clean knife, fork and spoon etc, even left my room card, when I went for my breakfast by the time I got back to my table EVERYTHING had gone off the table - including my room card!! It’s embarrassing then to have to make a fuss to sort it out. Such a small thing to ask for but great for someone on their own. Thank you.

Breakfast was excellent. Staff went above and beyond to ensure we had all what we needed.Very busy and the staff could have done with more help. Perhaps you should look at extra staff at bust times.

More staff on reception. More staff on bar area. More staff at breakfast . The staff on duty today 4/5/25 were excellent. Breakfast was very busy and waiting for some items was slow. Your staff go beyond to assist customers.

Great hotel in a good location. Very welcoming to the dog (although there is an additional fee to take pets), and was given a goody bag containing a treat for the dog and a couple of poo bags! Breakfast was very good, even though the restaurant seemed to be full both mornings, and there was certainly no shortage of food. Bed was super comfortable and the room extremely clean

Although they welcome pets, there is very little outside area to walk the dog to carry out its necessary "jobs". The only area we could find that wasn't tarmac or paved parking was round the back of the building which seemed to be a bit of a dumping ground, including broken glass.

Excellent room well stocked & very clean It was very quiet during the night & the bed was very comfortable This room (11) would be good for families as it looked like there was a connecting room if having children with you Breakfast was an excellent addition to the rate as it included hot dishes, good variety of cereals, fruit, continental choices and toast making facilities. Good choice of coffee's ready to make in a machine

The meals in the evening are limited but there is a good choice of restaurants in the surrounding area very close by the hotel. We just needed a snack so my Husband had a cheese & ham toastie which he enjoyed but I had cheese straws which came with a sweet chilli dip (which I did have to go & ask for!) they looked shriveled up in a dish not very presentable & were the same price as the toastie (no comparison!!) The other reason why I have marked down is the receptionist could of been a bit more friendly I was testing by asking her what needed to be filled in on the registration which really should of been explained when handing over the form but instead I felt a sarcastic reply.

Very well designed. Bathroom door doubled as the loo door so two persons could share. Room and all public areas were good and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Tea/coffee making in the room. Free chilled water in reception. Good breakfast - cereals, natural yoghurt and compote, decent cooked food with excellent bacon - help yourself as much as you want. The number 7 bar and restaurant next door was buzzing with excellent food of an evening if you wish to go out.

The facilities were clean, breakfast was really nice and staff was always nice when talking to them. The reception was always open and checking out at 4am was no trouble at all. I was even offered free drinks during christmass!

My main issue with the room was the temperature, granted it was winter but the temperatures were often very low inside, the air conditioner often turned off after a few mins making it impossible to heat the room to a comfortable temperature.

The breakfast wasn't bad and the room was comfortable.

I was disappointed that the now we have to pay for the carpark. For many years, we have stayed in this Holiday Inn Express and never has to pay Now we find that it's £6 a day and £12 for people just to visit. Its just seems like everywhere else Holiday Inn are squeezing every penny they can from people anyway possible. This is not a good thing guys, and therefore you've gone down in my book
