We stayed in the 2 bedroom villa, aptly named "the palace" by the staff. The villa was so beautiful and very spacious. It has been finished to a very high standard, with a very well stocked kitchen for all cooking needs and 2 beautiful bathrooms, one with a shower and the other a bath. The was so much outside space with stunning views out the front of Mount Pico and the back overlooking Faial island. Every member of staff were incredible and so friendly, nothing was too much to ask for. There is a pool and restaurant on site but we did not use either, it was a bit too cold (late April) to use the pool. The location of the property is pretty good, was a nice leisurely stroll of 20-30 minutes into the centre of Madalena, and there is a large supermarket just down the road (about 5 minutes walking). We did hire a car to explore the island and there was always ample parking. Overall we had a wonderful time staying here and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the Azores.

A bit of a personal preference but the mattresses were incredibly firm, probably the firmest mattress I've even slept on, which for me was a little uncomfortable.

We enjoyed our stay at this residence. Although it’s not located right in the city center, the walk to downtown wasn’t too long. The place was clean and located in a lush, green area that made the whole experience feel relaxing and close to nature. The courtyard was beautifully maintained, and the overall vibe was very peaceful. The staff were polite, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay.

The hot water in the shower ran out very quickly, which was inconvenient. For a place surrounded by nature, it was disappointing that the juice served at breakfast wasn’t fresh. The electric kettle in the kitchenette was plastic, and after boiling, the water had a strong plastic taste — not ideal for making tea or coffee. Also, there was no “Do Not Disturb” sign to hang on the door.

Our stay was amazing! The location of Alma do Pico is great. Just outside of Madalena and super central for all activities on Pico. The staff is amazing and they offer so many nice recommendations. At the reception they have a board with all activities and the best restaurants. The restaurant at the hotel, Atmosfera, is amazing and serves homemade pastas and beautiful wines. It’s run by a family and they also cater the breakfast at the cabins. You can adjust the breakfast to your own needs but it’s already amazing as it is. Big compliments to the entire restaurant team as they made us feel so welcome!

You have to press the button in the shower for it to keep running. Would be nice to change that.

We loved this place, very close to Madeleine, about 8 mins by car. The chalets are beautiful, well equipped with everything you need. Comfortable. You can really relax in this hotel. In the complex you get a beautiful view of Pico and Faial, so we took some pictures of the sunset. The staff were very friendly and we were able to communicate with them without a problem before our arrival. The room included a basket for breakfast, which was a very nice detail how it was presented. We would definitely stay there again. We stayed only one night but I suggest to stay at least two to really enjoy the place and relax in Pico.

Almo do Pico is a real find. Built under the trees, it is the perfect spot for a relaxing holiday. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is very close to the town center and other attractions. Like the rest of the Azores islands, you need a car.

The breakfast could be better. Perhaps most striking is to have your milk and coffee in capsules. It should not be very difficult to offer fresh coffee and milk in the Azores.

We arrived very late because out flight from Terceira island was delayed 3 hours. We were able to communicate with the staff at Almo do Pico via WhatsApp and email (we didn't have SIM cards that supported cell service on the island). They were very helpful and understanding. They just left the door key in the door lock for us. We completed the official check in the next morning. We asked if there was a store nearby where we could buy some hiking poles for our trek up Pico Mountain. They loaned us two sets of poles for free that had been left by prior guests. Excellent service. Nice private cabins. Beautiful setting. Great breakfast.

This is kind of a "get out in nature" kind of place, a bit minimalist but with lots of nice public seating areas (indoor & out), a pool, and it has a restaurant on-site that's open a few nights a week. My room was fairly sparse but roomy and had a kitchenette in it which would be great for self-catering. They do offer a cocktail bar, which is nice. It's a few minutes' walk from a supermarket, which was convenient. There is breakfast, nothing super special but handy to have.

At night the room got a ton of bugs in it on the floor (not flying or biting, just...eeech). I eventually found some bug spreay by the door and that helped take them out but I wish they'd prepared me for that (it was never mentioned). The wifi wasn't working well for me. And the location is challenging, you're way out away from restaurants and such.

Great location, very quiet and natural (feels like you are in the park). To the „main town” it’s around 30 mins walk. Amazing view both on Pico and Ocean. Room was clean and spacious.

Room was a bit dark. Breakfast was delivered in baskets to room, it was rather poor and very limited. No eggs, vegetables. Just bread, four plasters of ham and cheese, small butter and small jam, two fruits and two glasses of juice - all for two people.

A very tranquil location, nice spacious cabin, lots of privacy and places to relax, incredibly kind and helpful staff. They’ve got lots of great info about the island and there’s a partner restaurant that is very nice as well.

It’s probably better to have a car (or some way to get around) if you want to see more of the island. There is parking available.
