A wind storm blew in while we were camping and we decided it best to find a room somewhere. We found the El Rancho Dolores motel on Booking.com and booked a room. I didn't have to pay till we checked in a couple hours later, which I appreciated, along with being able to cancel anytime. But once we got there, we were so glad we booked! Our room had a tiny kitchen and a full fridge with a freezer, perfect to revive the cooler items we had that were getting too warm. The shower was hot, the bed comfy, and the view the next morning out our kitchen window while we drank our coffee was quite quaint. It was the perfect place to retreat from the storm!

We needed a pan to make the eggs!

Fantastic Stay Near Joshua Tree National Park! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a great stay at El Rancho Dolores! This charming motel is the perfect spot for anyone visiting Joshua Tree National Park. The location is excellent—just a short drive to the park entrance and within walking distance of restaurants and shops in 29 Palms. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with all the necessary amenities like a fridge, microwave, and good Wi-Fi. The bed was super comfy. The property is well-maintained, with a peaceful desert vibe that really adds to the experience. If you're looking for a cozy, affordable, and convenient place to stay, this is the place to be!

Cleanliness, value for the price (it was an efficient, clean place which is all I can ask for), very nice staff. Quiet stay for a motel.

This is probably not the motel's fault at all. When I first arrived, the bathroom door was closed and when I opened it, it smelled of cigarette smoke in there. I don't know how. Thankfully turning on the bathroom fan was enough to get the smell out. Also not the motel's fault, but the unit to my right probably had a smoker who smoked at the door, so cigarette smoke smell woke me up in the morning as it came into my room. Smokers need to smoke far away from the motel doors.

This cute adobe hotel was an oasis in the desert. The staff was wonderful, most especially Tulouna M. at the desk, always smiling and happy to see you! The pool area was lovely once they finished some maintenance and I would love to sit out there for hours. El Rancho is right on the edge of downtown and all of the town is easily walkable with some amazing local restaurants within a 10 minute walk

the mattresses were a bit dated and the bathroom we had was small but great pillows and hot hot water

Great location for visiting Joshua Tree Nationalpark, just a 5 min drive to the entrance. Spacious and comfortable rooms, with fridge, stove and microwave. Tidy and clean. Free parking

No kitchenware and a few stains on the towels (I would just replace these). Pool was unfortunately cold and we couldn't use it. There were some weird people walking around the facilities, although other parts of 29Palms also seemed to have these issues, so might not be motel specific.

This place isn't fancy by any means, but you can tell when you drive in by the way the grounds are kept that it accomplishes what it sets out to do: give very low prices with a room that isn't icky, or close to icky. Room decor isn't stylish but it's fine. Ken at the front desk was very polite and professional. At this price absence of problems and cleanliness are the two key things and it was clean and I encountered no weak areas.

The front desk person was very sweet and had a warm smile. She made us feel appreciated with her pleasant personality and engaging conversation. All of our needs were taken care of and the pool was the best hotel pool I have ever seen. Really big and clean.

Nothing everything and everyone was great! A nice place to stay in this small comunity. One of the best I have seen.

Very quiet--no noise from neighbors or the road. Clean room. Staff were responsive to our needs: reassured us before arrival that a late-night check-in was no problem; provided a space heater, extra pillows, and a fridge upon request. Location is very convenient for a visit to Joshua Tree National Park.

The heater in the room didn't work, and there was no refrigerator (it had recently broken down, and a new one was on order). But when we raised those concerns, the staff brought in a fridge from another unit, and they also brought us a space heater that was super quiet and worked well. One of the chairs in our room had badly stained upholstery, and the shower curtain had a big brown stain, but linens were clean and the room itself was clean.

Just minutes away from Joshua Tree NP entrance, close to restaurants and gas stations, friendly staff and easy check-in process, easy access and ample parking, and it was quiet except for a little bit of road noise, which was to be expected. Did not hear neighbors.

The heater inside the room was inconsistent. It was near-freezing out at night, and there were times it was noticeably cold in the room. Conversely, there were also times when the heater seemed to stay on forever. Wish it would have just maintained a nice, ambient temperature.

The location was perfect and very welcoming. The lady at reception was friendly and helpful and our rooms were spacious and clean. We would have liked to have tried the pool but it was too hot! Great to have access to free ice and also a cheap laundry area, which was very welcome indeed! The thick curtains in the rooms kept heat and light out and the beds were very comfy.

Nothing! If there was one thing that could be improved, I’d say the air con was a bit too noisy at night - maybe a fan would be a good addition?
