Location, available car parking, friendliness of staff, interior decor of communal areas. Good choice for breakfast.
Thought we were getting a view of their courtyard but our expensive room overlooked the cobbled street which unfortunately was a bus route which were noisy (only buses were noisy). Bath awkward to get in and out of. Shower came without protective screen so as caring guests we were concerned for splash back/soaking the room. Toilet seat so narrow it pinched your things. No daily room bottled water left for guests. Not enough clothes hangers. Cost for overnight parking unreasonably high.

This lovely small hotel is in a great location-easy walking distance to points of interest, as well as the train station. The interior is charming with quaint little spaces to gather and relax. My room was equally charming and thoughtfully appointed with everything I needed including china cups and saucers for coffee and tea. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom area was surprisingly spacious. The hotel is on a quiet street, but very close to busier areas. The staff is fantastic. They were very helpful and assisted with questions and recommendations. I had great Internet access from my room as well.
Nothing!

The location is superb, right in the heart of the historic centre. We never had to use the car as everything was within walking distance. The hotel is clearly a family run, labour of love., not only a business. The attention to detail shines through e.g. candles lit throughout the breakafst room and lounges that, in combination with the decor, provided a romantic, laid-back ambience. The staff were really attentive and helpful. We didn't get the name of the young man on reception who helped both recommend and book a restaurant for us; and Maritsa, who looked after us at breakfast was really pleasant, interested and accommodating. Bruges is a beautiful city and the Castillion is a beautiful base to visit it from

The building itself is pretty lovely, and first impressions were positive. Staff members on arrival (mostly family, I believe) were very welcoming, and very eager to help us. The room was well-furnished, with a comfortable and spacious bathroom and a nice strong shower. And the location was excellent, minutes away on foot from the large square that sits at the heart of Bruges/Brugge. The decoration and general vibe of the hotel is clearly weighted towards leisure travel (and it would make for a great spot for a romantic getaway, for sure). We ate our meals out of the hotel, but the breakfast buffet - in which the hotel takes great pride - certainly looked generous.
Not much, to be honest. At a pinch, I’d say our room was on the small side, and the air conditioner wasn’t very effective. I asked about parking my motorcycle, and was advised that this would be charged at €70 for two nights, the same rate charged for a car. This compares with €30 for two nights in the very heart of Amsterdam, the previous night. Excessive, I felt, and a bit anti-bike, perhaps? But generally, De Castillion was a very nice experience.

Stepped into the hotel to be met with such a warm festive feel (and smell). A very traditional hotel in style, loved the decor and feel of the bar area, I would recommend the hotel bar for drinks even if not staying at the hotel to enjoy the Christmas decorations. Location was also perfect.
The only very small negative was the breakfast was a little pricey for the selection and the teacups could do with being replaced as many were chipped. This certainly didn't affect the enjoyment of our stay, just a small observation.

My husband and I would not be fans of large impersonal hotels, however luxurious, so found the de Castillion , which is a smallish very old building, family run, very much to our liking. It is slightly quirky, but full of character. Our room was comfortable, quiet, as requested, and the staff helpful. One has the feeling of being more in a private residence than a hotel.
We are not Breakfast eaters ourselves, so it didn't bother us, but it seemed to us that 56 euro per couple per day was on the expensive side. Perhaps a cheaper option could be available for those who might want it?

From the moment we arrived until the time we checked out, everything was absolutely perfect. The check-in and check-out process was incredibly smooth, making our stay stress-free from the start. The hotel itself is chic and beautifully designed, with elegant sun-dried flower bouquets adding a unique charm throughout the space. One of the standout details was the amazing toiletries – not only did they smell incredible, but you could also purchase them at reception, which was a great touch. One of the biggest highlights was the hotel’s pet-friendly policy. Unlike most places that restrict pets in certain areas, here, we could have our dog with us everywhere—no limits at all! This truly made our experience special. To top it off, the hotel even left a small cookie for our dog as a thoughtful welcome gift, which was such a lovely gesture. Additionally, we were welcomed with two delicious Belgian chocolates in our room—another small but memorable touch. The bar was fantastic, offering a great atmosphere and stunning views. The staff was professional, friendly, and attentive, adding to the overall excellence of our stay. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. It’s stylish, welcoming, and truly worth the value. We will definitely return, and we highly recommend it to anyone—especially pet owners looking for a genuinely pet-friendly luxury stay!
If there’s one minor downside, it would be the location. Finding the hotel using Waze or Google Maps can be a bit tricky, especially on weekends when certain restrictions apply. However, the hotel does inform guests in advance about this, which helps. Another slight area for improvement could be the breakfast selection—while it was good, a bit more variety would elevate the experience even further.

If there is one thing I regret when staying here, it’s that I stayed for only 1 night. Already considering celebrating a New Year here. The hotel is one of the best ones I’ve ever stayed it, and that list is quite long. It’s beautiful, very comfortable (first really good bed after visiting 4 cities in the Netherlands and Belgium during the trip). There were even some small chocolate surprises for everyone, which is something only some 5-star hotels do. Staff members were amazing, real professionals. Breakfast is a separate story - I didn’t expect such variety of high quality products in a hotel with only 20 rooms, but it was on the level with 5-star hotels as well. And the location is also perfect. Bruges is actually bigger than most people think, so being in the old town a few minutes away from the sights is worth a lot. I hope this hotel will continue welcoming guest forever, no matter what other pandemic will come. It’s was one of Bruges highlights for me.
Some people will probably say that the price is a bit high, but for a small hotel with 20 rooms of that quality in that town - it’s fair for sure. Not a single thing I can complain about, even if I really wanted to. It was flawless.

As you approach the Hotel the beauty of it and effort they had put into the decorations were outstanding. The staff were really friendly and couldn’t do enough to help you. The Hotel is stunning . Right in the heart of Brugge, you are in the town centre, it couldn’t be better placed. The room was cleaned and sheets changed every day. The selection of food at breakfast was excellent. We will definitely be going back
We thoroughly enjoyed everything

It’s the most beautiful old residence converted to a hotel with all the modern conveniences. Brand new top of the line bathrooms and antique furniture give you the best of both worlds. Each room is differently decorated and we feel like guests in someone’s home. Lovely friendly staff. A patio and a cosy bar to spend time in outside your room. Fantastic location like 5 minutes from anything strongly recommended to enjoy bruge
