Location fantastic for getting to Welshpool and the castle and good local attractions. Beautiful 400 year old building with character and charm in a delightful picturesque Welsh town. The family room was so spacious with very comfy beds. The food was AMAZING. We had evening meals there. Proper good size portions, home cooked food with healthy fresh vegetables at a reasonable price. Staff very friendly and helpful. Plenty of car park space

Only 1 insignificant thing - They had ran out of yogurt and fruits for breakfast on our second day, which was a shame as I'd enjoyed the strawberries and blueberries with yogurt at the first breakfast

The gent on reception was exceptional, as always. Great room and appreciated the under cover parking for my motorbike. Good food.

As a solo traveller, I preferred my dinner in the bar area (as used to be the case). Being obliged to eat in a large room, with just one other diner felt a bit like being in detention tbh. The waiter didn't muster a single smile that evening, or during breakfast on Friday morning. These small issues prevented me eating dinner or drinking at the hotel on Thursday evening. On Thursday morning, I was asked to move to a pre-set table that I hadnt seen (& didn't have my room number on). I felt a bit like a 61 year old school boy moving across the room in front of others. It wasn't really necessary, as the table was clean and to my satisfaction. All I needed was a cutlery which could have been moved to me, instead of moving me to it?

We booked this hotel as a pit stop on a long journey. The price of the room included a breakfast. Nice comfortable room, no shower but a lovely big bath with an abundance of hot water, shower gels were provided which is great. Had a few drinks in the bar, staff were lovely and friendly and we ate in the hotel on the evening. Nice meal, I had the chicken in a taragon sauce, could have done with a little more veg and new potatoes but hey ho. Great selection for breakfast the next morning. I would definitely return to this hotel if I happen to be in that area, very old and quirky hotel 😁

Don't think there was anything I didn't like apart from maybe slightly bigger portions on the food.

The cleaning lady was so lovely, she gave caring mum vibes and was so friendly. The manager was accommodating when we got back late and bought food as we were at a wedding. The room was clean, and cosy. Bed was comfortable. Shampoo and shower gel provided was lovely... and the tea tray really nice touch. Breakfast food was good quality and tasty The bar lady was friendly too, cant fault the staff at all. Credit to you. I booked a second room my sister stayed in they had issues and the manager sorted for them , and offered free drinks etc. Stuff happens we understand that.. the manager dealt with it well and they were pleased. Breakfast room was cosy

The shower was too small in our room. The toilet and the door to the bathroom was a bit too close. The room had no long mirror, which was hard when checking how you looked before wedding /going out. The breakfast table could of had more selection. If you come down in middle of breakfast the continental selection was sparse. The hot breakfast could have been more tailored as I didnt eat alot of the items but wanted more of one of the items as few I didnt like and I was told no. The guy serving us didnt seem very happy.

Location was perfect as we were visiting family who live in the village. Car park at rear. Staff were all friendly & welcoming. Very old & characterful property; lots of work has been done to ensure it meets current standards. Lovely large walk in shower & nice comfy beds. Large twin room overlooking the street which was quiet once the pub closed, despite us sleeping with the windows open!! Breakfast was good & well presented. Ate at the hotel too on Sat evening; the choice was good & meal tasty. All in all a great stay. Thank you!!

Out of owners control but very boisterous visitors on Sat evening so we were unable to sit & enjoy a drink following our meal. People had had too much to drink & had become loud & quite intimidating. They took over the lounge so we left. Otherwise a perfect stay & wouldn't put me off visiting again.

This 17th century inn is a wonderful place to stay in Llanfyllin. It seems to be a centre of community in the village with many locals popping into the lounge on the Friday night we stayed to catch up with each other and have a nice ale. Our twin room was spotlessly clean with a tea and coffee tray with biscuits. The shower was hot and powerful, the room nice and airy, and the beds were very comfy. You can hear the hustle and bustle of the bar downstairs so if you're a light sleeper and in bed before 10pm, bring ear plugs. To be honest though, it was a nice homely sound and it was quiet by around 10ish, then it was absolutely peaceful throughout the night which I was surprised about given the location. We had dinner in the restaurant area: Kudos to the chefs as the lamb stew was sensational with incredible sticky gravy, fresh veg and mashed potatoes. The husbands burger was juicy and homemade. Nom. Nom. A full cooked breakfast was included the next day which was hot and filling with plenty of bacon. Also a little table for cereal if desired. The staff were welcoming and Mark the owner was a delight! We would definitely return again🤩

Everything was great. Remember it's an old inn so don't expect a new build with perfect walls and doors😂 Take the experience as it is and enjoy staying in a piece of history with lovely people and delicious food.

I have stayed here before so knew it suited my requirements. The staff, without exception, are friendly and helpful. The hotel is very conveniently located and although on the main street it is quiet. The food is good with a nice variety on the menu to suit different tastes. There is a good choice of food for breakfast and I had dinner there on two nights. The rooms are spacious and make the most of the quirks of a very old building. There are some convenient walks close by for the dogs. I will happily stay there again and recommend to others.

I cannot think of anything.

We loved our room, it was huge. A hotel with lots of character and original features. A few little snags, eg, uneven floor, the bathroom needed some updating. The bed was so comfortable. The location was great in the town with beautiful walks nearby. There have been bad reviews, but this is a 17th-century coaching inn better than the usual chrome and grey. It was clean and the staff were attentive and friendly. Our evening meals we enjoyed enormously fresh local straightforward delicious food. A good cooked breakfast as well. Good value for money. Nearby Lake Vyrnwy, Waterfalls, Pistyll Rhaeadr. Mountains lakes and forests. And lots of sheep!

The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The room was lovely, it had a sofa and a bed in it and was very relaxing. The food there is one of the best evening meals and breakfasts I’ve ever had, locally sourced food. The bar was nice, bright with some low key music on. Just really enjoyed our stay, it was like home from home without having to lift a finger. Parking is really good located at the back of hotel.

Great friendly welcome from reception and most of the bar staff. Room was lovely and clean. It was on the front but not noisy. Motorbikes were secure in rear car park. Great food for evening meal as well as breakfast.

Only dropped 1 point as a Welsh lady behind the bar didn't speak even when asked a question, yet was happy to speak in Welsh which I thought was quite rude. She was happy to speak to her friends in English when she had knocked off her shift and was sat outside having a drink.
