It was such a gorgeous room tucked out of the way down it's own corridor from other rooms for privacy. We loved the dark decor and it was designed really nicely. The layout of the bathroom was very cool, with a few steps leading up into it. It had a bath and a shower, plenty of shower gel etc, access to a hairdryer, mini fridge with bottled water which came in very handy, very well lit mirror to get ready in, a lockable safe if needed, extremely comfy bed and pillows which is the main thing to look for being the heart of any bedroom, great TV, hot drinks tray selection, plenty of plug sockets, effective black out blinds plus the cutest notepad for you to jot any 'to do' lists down throughout your day. We didn't get breakfast included. And we're able to get a slightly later checkout which we were immensely grateful for. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The perfect location for us to access any local shops too.

This property matched well with the expected brand experience, but also offered a surprising range of restaurant promotions that would be tempting for casual dining even if not staying at the hotel itself. The atmosphere was welcoming and the room offered nice touches such as the quality toiletries, minifridge and complimentary mineral water. The location couldn't be more convenient for public transport and many restaurants, pubs and bars, outstanding if you're weekending on foot, and with a nice riverside walk on the doorstep. A bargain at the price paid.

Nothing the proprietors can do anything about I guess, but parking is a nightmare. There's a drop-off point with limited free time but beyond that you need to get lucky or it's a real problem.

Had to wait a bit kn arrival as room wasn't ready but I got a free drink jn the bar. The room was very nice not tons of space about it but it was decorated well and had everything I needed for one night away. It wasn't possible to have e dinner there in the restaurant only the bar as there was a wedding which I didnt know in advance but being in such a fantastic location for reading and reading station you could go out all night. There is a fantastic bar with party games open next door open until 2 or 3am so if you want to be out most the night you can be.

I would check out the parking arrangements but I arrived by train so im not sure about that.

Stayed here for 3 nights and it was great .The staff here were lovely ! The location was great near the centre and the station. Really enjoyed our stay here I requested a bath and they had both a bath and shower in the room . It was a lovely and spacious room. The bed was super comfortable and soft. Will definitely stay here again !

Only thing we found a little annoying was the noise from the bar outside once the tv was turned off however this was minimum and maybe with a room further away from the back of the bar would be better . But very minimal :)

I had a wonderful time in Malmaison. Iam coming from Indonesia to help my son settled in at Reading University. Nick in Reception and all the entire staff in Malmaison very helpful and kind to me and my son. Iam very greatful with all your helps. One week staying in Malmaison hotel and even in Reading town people so wonderful. I wish you all a very best staff in Malmaison and looking foward staying at Malmaison in a future. We have stayed here before and we really enjoyed our stay here. We booked a double room and was put into a room with it 2 singles put together . After asking if we could move to a double bed to avoid the gap . The staff were fabulous at making sure this happened for us and moved us without any issues.

Last time we had a room onto the back of a bar a little noises there we heard however we think after staying in both sides of the biking now we prefer rooms at the back after having both stays in front and the back of the building the back is better just avoiding the noises .

This hotel is ideally located for both the railway station and the centre of Reading. The facilities provided at the hotel common areas and the rooms are excellent.

This is an odd observation to some, but the shower heads are too big for the cubicles they're in. You'll know what I mean if you use them, but the drench type shower certainly provides plenty of water. There is also a bath, a sink and a toilet in a sizeable space, with the loo crowded into a corner. On the next refurb the hotel may wish to reconsider the use of space in the bathroom. Don't let this put you off--the hotel is very comfortable and if this is all I can find to criticise you should be reassured!

I wanted a place close to the train station and you don't get much closer! Still, it was very quiet in my room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was fabulous, unusually, plenty of mirrors! There was a bath and a shower and both were great - lovely hot water. Good number of TV channels. Lots of space in the room. Good-sized safe that I didn't have to crawl on the floor to access. Small fridge. Kettle provided. Good sized desk. Plenty of plug sockets. Breakfast was excellent, with generous portions.

There's a bit of light seepage from the window blinds, they needed to be a bit wider - but I've had much worse in many other hotels. A coat hook in the very spacious hallway would have been welcome. Some people may prefer a coffee machine to a kettle but there's good coffee at breakfast. It was excellent value, I worry they're not charging enough for what they offer!

The location and the impressive facade of the outside of the building literally across the road from Reading railway station. The warm welcome from the reception staff being late on a Saturday evening. Check in within a minute. Club room was outstanding with more than all the expected luxuries, huge walk in rain shower, fluffy dressing gown and good quality slippers. The bathroom and bedroom amenities were all quality products. The breakfast was unique, a well stocked continental buffet followed by a la carte menu for hot food ordered table side. Excellent food in a calming ambience.

The location of the room was at the front of the building. It was Saturday night so busy outside with passing Christmas revelers and noisy sirens well into the early hours. Any hotel in central Reading would likely experience the same over a weekend.

Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly. If you want a central hotel this is a good choice. There is fairly close parking at the other side of the station (though it's a little expensive).

Obviously a time of the year thing, the hotel was busy and really loud with Christmas parties. We had booked to eat in the bar (restaurant full), but changed our minds when we saw how busy and noisy the bar was (6.45pm), and room service wasn't available either (the reception staff said they doubted it would be available and then the ordering number just kept ringing out). This probably isn't that surprising on a Friday in December, and (being in the centre of Reading) it isn't a huge problem, but we really just wanted to relax after a long week. It was also a little annoying that groups from the bar were smoking at the hotel entrance, blocking the way in.
