The room was excellent, so spacious and had everything we needed. The breakfast was of a very high quality and there was not anything on there we did not like. The bed was so comfy and to wake up to the view of the golf course was an added bonus. The service from staff in the bar and at breakfast we found to be very friendly and accommodating.

The water pressure on the shower was not that great and also took quite a while to get to a decent temperature (we put that down to the age of the building), also no lift, which again we put down to the age and layout of the building. Other than that nothing else to complain about.

Hotel set in pleasant grounds with golf course. Lovely old building. That did mean no lift. Room was nice with good size bath and shower. Bathroom seemed to have been recently done. No way of opening the window or A/C so got a little stuffy. TV was fine for me but a small screen which some might struggle to see well. Bed comfortable though I was over the bar so some noise and I could hear the music - it would depend on what room you had. Breakfast was set in the restaurant with good views of the grounds. Good selection for continental breakfast and cooked breakfast to order. Large car park. Though I didn't use it I was given free access to the leisure facilities which is a plus.

I would have liked a way to open the window - though thankfully the weather was not too hot. Toilet seat was loose. Location is close the M6 - about 5-10 mins drive but not the nearest hotel.

Food was very good. Staff were exceptional in the bar, reception and restaurant. Spa was good, but not top tier. Staff and treatments were fantastic.

We were allocated a bridal suite room, which made us excited on arrival. However, the decor was a little tired and the room is in need of renovation. The ceiling above the shower was broken, with the shower and taps looking like they struggle with low water pressure. If renovated that room would be spectacular. Staff in the golf Pro Shop couldn’t be more disinterested if they tried. Early in the season and the greens are not in the best condition. The back nine are blighted by being so compact that there are shouts of Fore every few minutes. Not an enjoyable course for that reason.

the value for money was great. The rooms are fairly dated now, renovating these would only double the cost per night for financial recovery and then cliental pool would be shrunk substantially. I feel the hotel more than makes up for the rooms! I usually spend a lot of time I the room relaxing and watching tv or working. At shaw hill I didn't really want to "hang out" in the room but the communal areas were brilliant. The staff in all areas couldn't do enough to help! the food was also exceptional!! I was expecting good all round and think the overall review would need to be a 8/10. Its very easy to critic certain areas but you cannot fault anything in the hotel other than aspects that would likely send any hotel business in 2024 into financial difficulties!

breakfast wasn't till 7am I think and I needed to leave around 6am so was a shame but not really the hotels fault. The wifi isn't very good at all and it is essential with the poor phone reception it was adequate to message via WhatsApp but taking calls wasn't possible (maybe just the area of the hotel I was in as I didn't do any calls in the main communal spaces etc.)

Quiet surroundings, great nights sleep as the bed was very comfortable and the food was super. We has dinner in the restaurant in the evening and breakfast in the morning and both were high quality. The pool/sauna was relaxing nad not too busy either. What also left an impression is how friendly and welcoming all the staff were.

My room was a little cold but I spoke to reception and they turned the heating on, so can't fault them for this.

The staff were wonderful, and couldn’t be faulted. Breakfast was good, but I’ve had better. The duvet was too heavy and became too warm for a good sleep. I was tempted top ask for a replacement for the second night.

My anxiety began as I left the reception and made my way through a rabbit warren of doors and passageways towards the back of the hotel into the bedroom with no real outlook. Curtains came off the rail when the curtain stays were moved. Shower was quite good, but shower gel was reluctant to reach my hand . . . the holder was badly designed.

The hotel felt and looked so luxurious. The staff were more than helpful and so lovely. The room was beautiful and we loved going for a swim.

The walls are extremely thin, so you can hear everyone walking up and down the stairs into their rooms etc

Pool was closed at 7 too early we thought it be open till 9 but the lady told us she be locking the doors by 06:45 so that wasn’t very nice I did question her she said she has a little daughter to pick up we was told to leave the pool before 7

Friendly check in, nice building and spacious rooms. The food was pretty good and generally had a nice atmosphere. I used an area in the front reception to conduct some work meetings and it was nice and quiet with good service by the staff. I would certainly return.

Not much to fault it really, it's getting a little tired in the rooms but typical of this type of old building and in no way did it affect my stay.

The staff were great. The lady on reception who checked us in, Steve on the night shift who had to deal with us coming back at 3am without keys and went out of his way to help and the breakfast staff. All were very helpful and catered to our needs in a friendly, efficient manner. Breakfast was great and I enjoyed the pool and steam room, great way to start the day. Beautiful building and location. Thank you for our stay and the extra bits of help. :)

The mattress wasn't very comfy, everything else was great.
