Every now and again, when travelling extensively, on a reasonably tight budget, one comes across a place of accommodation that simply exudes a five-star rating for a budget price. Such is the Dingley Hotel. Despite arriving well before check in time (courtesy of international flight scheduling), the receptionist was not only very welcoming, but was also incredibly accommodating in that she arranged for would be allowed into my room. Indeed, not only were the staff at reception friendly and helpful on arrival, their friendliness and assistance continued each time you entered or left the hotel throughout the entire stay. A very rare treat of hospitality. The room was very large, containing two very comfortable beds (although only one was used), an array of furniture, including a table and chairs, dresser, bedside cabinets, mini bar and Television. It also provided exceptional storage areas. It was also well carpeted. Coffee and Tea was also provided, along with biscuits that were actually replaced each day. Another rarity. The bathroom was spacious and well provided with towels, face cloths and complimentary toiletries. Also had a decent sized shower. They are located a little away from the greater metropolis, which can be easily reached by short car or public transport journeys. However, they also have an on-site restaurant that has quite an extensive menu for very reasonable prices. However, I have not included my rating for this as part of the rating for the accommodation, as this would have decreased the overall rating. Would I return…absolutely. Now my favoured place of accommodation when visiting Melbourne.

Location was perfect. We had been in Melbourne for a funeral at Springvale. The reception was so friendly and easy after our flight from Perth. Room was exactly what we needed. Comfortable beds, spacious and super clean. Bathroom was lovely with a large shower and nice products to pamper ourselves a little. Quiet too. Secure parking was easy access. Being close to Dingley hotel was great so we could pop over for a reasonable priced meal anytime.

There is a lift for luggage. But not people. A friend on crutches couldn’t come up to meet us. This was easily overcome by meeting at the foyer. Just something to consider when booking.

The cleanliness and the clean up service during the day , lovely customer service 🥰 the cleaners and receptionist and bistro employees kind customer service really made my day each day we were there.

I didn’t like how I wasn’t told about the mini bar charges as this was my 1st time experiencing a mini bar so had surprise charges to my bond which I was very in happy about. Thought it was just a generous gesture and compliments with the room orelse I would’ve hid them straight away from my kids 😤 and gutted it was too cold for the pool

Staff were so lovely and helpful. We got to check in earlier when we arrived which was fantastic as it was such a hot day. The air con in the room was fantastic compared to other hotels ear have been to. Dinner at the restaurant was so delicious and good prices.

The only thing i would i didn’t like as much was the first day we were there the pool looked very dirty. Leaves and bugs and not too good. But when we asked reception for pool cleaner we could use, they said they don’t think they had one but would ask. Then next morning which read another hot day they had a pool cleaning thing going and looked so much better. Will definitely be staying here again.

Poorly signposted - Dingley Hotel is actually the massive pokie hall, not pleasant. Accommodation is at Dingley Motel at opposite end of complex. Bistro was OK - not great value for money.

Very welcoming. As we are elderly people well into our eighties, we were given the room with easy access to our car park lot. On top of that the room was well appointed and extremely senior friendly with safety features in bathroom including bath seat (as it was specially designed for guests on wheelchair)

There was only one sink to serve both the pantry and bathroom/toilet. Created congestion as the room was for use by 3 persons.

We stayed 5 nights and had a very comfortable stay. Very spacious room, 2 king beds with lots of room to move about the room. Modern bathroom and ample storage for luggage. Ceiling to floor windows gave the room lovely light and block out curtains kept the room nice and dark in the morning. Beds were super comfy. Staff are lovely and pleasant to deal with. The hotel common areas were very neat and our room was always well cleaned. Kids loved the pool and the complimentary gated parking area was perfect for our needs. The rooms were nice and quiet and had everything you could need. The bistro at the Dingley hotel was the perfect place for a family catch-up. We ate there twice and the meals and service from Abby was excellent. Loved being able to walk back to our room after a couple of drinks with dinner. Great value for money. We look forward to returning.

The landscaping of the pool needs an update ,(peeling paint) and needs new poolside furniture but the pool itself is great and our family enjoyed many afternoons there. Lack of towel racks. The double towel rack only held 2 towels but there were 4 of us and we tried not to replace towels every day.

The room size was the largest i have stayed in a hotel till now. All amenities were good. Nice view of the green area . Quiet . Plenty of parking. Nice staff. The restaurant looked very nice and was always lot of people there, but due to time constraint we could not go . I would recommend to stay here if you have to go to Penguin Parade as it shortens the distance compared to if you were travelling from the city ( i.e if you are driving) It was close to Brighton Beach.

Since it is only 2 levels , there was no lift so could be a problem for people with limited mobility & so they should request a room on the ground floor.

This place is value for money! We travelled from Sydney to Melbourne for the Swifty concert LOL. It really is a hidden Gem. It had everything we needed for a family of 2 adults, a teen and a toddler. We didn’t have to break the bank. Check in staff were lovely, we got everything we needed in our room, 2 comfortable beds, great shower, foxtel, the usual necessities in a room. Loved the block out curtains. We were honestly happy to hang and chill in our room. Bathroom was very clean and so was the room. We were very happy with our stay

Not related to our accomodation - but we had dinner at the bistro next door. Location was very convenient but honestly it was below average. The place was packed, so we were excited - packed house = great food surely. 2 Rumps at almost $50 each was so burnt and I could honestly find no positives but we were starving. It put us off having food from there for the remainder of our stay. Bistro honestly 2/10.

Dinner, wine and breakfast were delicious. Numerous options available. Mattress was amazingly comfortable. Room was quiet and dark while we slept. Awoke refreshed and ready to continue our journey. Staff friendly and efficient. Great value for money. Easy to book online. Highly recommend.
