What a superb stay. We basically had the run of the place due to a slight quirk in bookings for that week. The room was amazing and the staff were brilliant. The facilities in the hotel were very good and it is a sumptuous and comfortable experience. Pool area was quiet and private. Plenty of rooms for guests, even if full, I think only 6 rooms!

I would not say I didn't like, but it is on the main road and sometimes a little noisy, but nothing to worry about. But the sea usually drown out the noise.

What I liked most was the quality of the staff and service. The manager who greeted me was very informative, helpful and a real problem solver. The property offers a turn down service in the evening and checks guests have water. The elegance of the house and the variety of seating areas on the ground floor and even the first floor were impressive. I liked being able to walk into the village and even catch a train to the next town. There are some good places to eat within easy walking distance.

The parking felt a bit cramped.

Our room was perfect and great for a staycation (we live in Cape Town) plenty of time to relax, read a book, have a glass of wine and otherwise just looking at the view. Plenty to do in Kalk Bay and did a lot of walking.

Breakfast was bit basic ie scrambled eggs or fried eggs being the only option. But really it made no difference to our stay so I would say there was nothing to complain about.

Beautifully decorated rooms with including spacious sitting areas throughout the Manor. Lovely swimming pool and deck. Delicious breakfast and excellent location in St James with walking distance to Kalk Bay and restaurants. Wonderful staff; Clive and Ken, helpful, friendly and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and give a 5 stars!

What a gorgeous guesthouse! Wish I stayed longer but will definitely be back. My flight came in late and the staff were more than happy to accommodate a late check in. I was still greeted and welcomed with a smile. The guesthouse is just so cosy and comfortable. I loved that there were electric blankets. I can’t wait to be back!

Location, helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast, spacious accommodation in the guest areas. Reasonable pool and decking space. Following a room move the accommodation and Outlook were excellent.

The room we were initially given was small, with no sitting area and no outlook with 5 steps up to the bathroom. However, having raised our concerns with the manager, she was able to relocate us to a much better room, enabling us to enjoy our stay to the full.

We had a very pleasant week. The staff were courteous and kind and most helpful. The room was beautiful, the bed very comfortable, the breakfasts superb.

The only not so good thing was that the taps in the sink either did not let any water through at all (one of the sinks) or the flow was very poor. So, we used tha bath tap for washing hands and faces, if not the shower.

Ideal breakfast options to suit all tastes. Cooked to order. Fresh fruit juices, salad and yoghurts. Fantastic friendly staff there to help at any time. Chilled pool area away from the hustle and bustle of the seafront ! Lovely property, very homely and well looked after!

The house is located where you want to be in the St James /Kalkbay area but it is big spacious and quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful but stay in the back ground.

The traffic can be problematic but can be avoided by walking.

From the moment I arrived, Ken was there to make sure I was settled in right away. The staff at breakfast were amazing and they made me feel so good about my stay at the hotel. I definitely recommend staying here and getting pampered by the staff and the beautiful hotel!
