This is a large hotel with a big lobby, coffee and tea provided all day. The breakfast buffet was the best we had throughout our travels with extensive and fresh offerings from freshly fried eggs, to multiple fish selections, roasted veggies were a great treat. There were plenty of juice, milk, cereal, yogurt selections. Our room was very nice, the bathroom was accessible which was strange since there were stairs to get to the room but it was spacious. We didn't want room cleaning but every day fresh towels were left. The beds were comfortable and room temperature was good. The hotel location was fine, just a block up from the waterfront in the historic section. We walked everywhere, including from the bus station (from Flam) and to the tram stop (on the way to the airport).

Surprisingly the only thing on the breakfast buffet that was a bit disappointing was the bread selection, just not as hearty and high quality as other places but still fine. Also, the breakfast room can get very crowded in the morning, although the staff tried to clear tables as soon as possible and one morning opened a second areas for seating. We were on the 2nd floor in the older section? so we had a few stairs along the hallway to our room, it was fine for us but something to keep in mind for mobility challenged folks.

Stayed with my husband for 4 days to explore Bergen, we paid a little extra to get a superior double room and the room was perfect, huge bathroom with a lovely bath and shower, beautiful views from the hotel window, lovely size bedroom with a very comfortable bed! Was nice to have a coffee machine and water etc, short distance to Bryggen which has lovely shops and restaurants. about 15 mins walk to the light rail from the airport also.

Only teeny issue would be good to have some drawers for better storage however if we were back in Bergen we would stay here again

The hotel was very conveniently located, just next to Bryggen and one street back from the waterfront. Breakfast was good and room comfortable.

I had booked a single room, which was spacious and well organised. However, I was shocked to find that the rubber seal on the entry door was broken and therefore insecure. I reported this to Reception, who fortunately were able to move me to another room. However this experience cast a shadow over my stay. Hopefully the hotel has now made the necessary repairs to the door to my original room and have ensured that all rooms are secure.

I really enjoyed my stay - breakfast options were excellent, staff friendly and helpful. I appreciated the water tap near reception so I could refill my water bottle throughout the day. The bathroom in my room was stunning and everything was very clean. I didn't realise until I got to Bergen how well the hotel was located to key sights in the city.

A small thing - the desk and chair in the room was close to the door. So on entering the room with my suitcase was tricky and I kept bumping into the furniture. It's a bit of a tight space. That said I loved that I could swivel the TV and watch from either the bed or bathroom!

Thon Hotels seem to be a solid mid-range chain in Norway catering to a mix of tourists and business travelers. This one is in a great location in the historic part of town, on a quiet street one block off of the busy Bryggen waterfront. We sprung for a superior double room, which gave a goodly amount of space and a corner window with peeks at the city and water between other buildings. The room also included some thoughtful efficiencies like coat hooks (surprising how many other hotels don't have these) and a clever pull-out ironing board. The breakfast buffet was good, and included a special section for gluten-free products and even a dedicated gluten-free toaster.

The hotel doesn't have its own parking, but there is an automated parking garage right across the street that had plenty of room, although it was expensive and I think the way they reckon the charging screws you for going in and out (I paid US $135 for a 3-night stay). The garage included a good number of EV charging stations, although I could never get it to work, and ended up having to seek a charging station across town. (Note: Bergen is very walkable and you really don't need a car unless you want to get to places in the greater vicinity like Grieg's house.)

The hotel staff went above and beyond to help our travel companions, who inadvertently left their passports in the Oslo Thon Rozenkrantz hotel safe. We traveled to Bergen by train and stayed in the Thon Rosenkrantz in Bergen as well. We discovered the issue fairly late at night, and had less than 24 hours to figure out how to get the passport from Oslo to Bergen, as we were due to leave Bergen and fly home to the US at 5 am the following day. A member of the Oslo staff actually went to the train station to see if the conductor could bring it with him on his overnight train journey. He couldn't. A Bergen staff member was able to contact a luggage courier service, past 11 pm, and arrange for them to pick up the passport and get it to us the next evening. Huge kudos to the staff at both hotels for helping our friends avoid a catastrophe. The breakfast was phenomenal and the location city center was perfect.

Great location a couple minutes walk away from the heavy foot traffic by the harbor on quiet street! Parking right across from hotel in public garage. Room was comfortable (we had a suite because we had expected to have a third traveler with us). Things were compact typical for city hotel and updated. Good breakfast buffet even by Norway standards which are quite high! Umbrellas for rent in reception area for $2 each and Bergen was the only place we needed them so nice amenity. Excellent service: I forgot a Kindle device and they called to let me know and kept it for four days till we circled back through Bergen on our way to the airport. Pretty sure most hotels I’ve been to wouldn’t go that extra mile to help. I was so grateful.

This isn’t a big negative but the light dinner is really light—salad and soup with bread and fruit. So if you have been hiking and come in really hungry, it may not be what you want. But it is included and would be great if you arrive and just want easy supper before turning in for the night or going out to explore the harbor.

Lovely staff (super fun to chat with, very helpful to orient us to the area and saved us a ton on transit to the airport), excellent location, very clean, had one of our rooms ready when we trudged over with luggage from our cruise so we could settle in a bit before seeing this beautiful city.

Would have been nice to have breakfast included, and while spotless, the bathtub is very slippery. There was a clear warning to be careful and a grab bar, but some traction or a bath mat might be wise.

Sumptuous breakfast. Love the fresh orange juice. Well prepared hot dishes. Nice selection of cheeses. Glad to see gluten free options. Room had mini bar to use as fridge and good coffee pot. Comfortable bed. Good lighting. Excellent help from staff at reception. 24 hr availability of Nespresso coffee was amazing. Also, there was an ice machine -- also amazing for a European hotel.

Room quite small although adequate for one person. One of my friends had a tiny tiny room tucked way in the back with little light. My room on second floor had street noise at night, but not terrible.

Perfect location, close to the fish market and other attractions. Friendly staff. The room was comfortable, equipped with an ironing board and mini bar. Bergen was experiencing a heat wave, which is unusual weather so hotel rooms aren't air conditioned. The hotel provided small fans for the rooms and that was good enough. Breakfast has a good variety of food.
