I love this hotel. Have stayed there before.
I would’ve liked to have been told that there was going to be a prom and there would be tons of young people roaming the property. It was very loud and I went there to relax. Also, I would’ve liked to have been told that the espresso machine is broken and all they could offer in their coffee shop, was plain black coffee.

Seriously the best hotel in Bakersfield! We loved our stay and will absolutely be coming back. The restaurant was so amazing as well. The front desk staff were beyond incredible. Sarah at the front went above and beyond my expectations and was so helpful! I called her my hero! Raise for her please!
Valet guy could definitely act a little more interested in doing his job. Maybe also open the door for people, if that doesnt take him away from playing on his phone. The bathrooms were so cool. Very nice. But I took a shower in the evening and in the middle of the night, the shampoo and body wash bottles fell off the wall in the shower. Scared the heck out of me. The condensation from the shower must have caused the tacky strip on the bottles to lose their grip from the wall. I feel like there could be a better way to mount them.

Great breakfast and bar.
Upon checking in, we were a bit early so our room wasn’t ready. Normally at other hotels, reception looks for a similar room that is ready. They did not even think to do that. Then we were asked if we were ok with a 7th floor room, and when my friend said no it’s haunted, reception found us a second floor room that was ready. Parking was also difficult to find. $18 for valet or you could pay $10 to stay at the structure across the street, or you could take your chances and park on the street in the questionable side of town. There was no complimentary hotel parking lot.

The Padre Hotel has undergone quite a makeover and has a fantastic contemporary vintage feel to it. It is extremely stylish and chic and we were wonderfully looked after by America on Reception who allocated us room 612, a large and very beautiful corner room with a fantastic view of the gorgeous Fox Theatre clock tower and the fabulous Nile Theatre's art deco tower. The room was super comfortable and had one of the most amazingly comfortable beds we have ever experienced... it was quite literally like sleeping on a cloud which puffed up around us! Valet parking (of which we took advantage and was very convenient) and room service (which we did not use) were both available. The overall vibe of the hotel is that of hip vintage luxury. Our primary reason for visiting Bakersfield was to see the architecture and to stay at The Padre Hotel, neither of which disappointed and once again, a big thank you to America for looking after us in that regard!
The one and only fault was that the beautiful shower didn't drain well and I ended up standing in ankle-deep soapy water when washing my hair :(

Lovely rooms, nicely designed and very comfortable. Hotel bar and restaurant are great, serving up beautiful meals and a great atmosphere. Friendly staff, just a great place, we really enjoyed our stay.
Around 7am our door was opened by someone. We had the security latch on, so it couldn't be opened more than an inch, but someone still tried. There was no knock before, which you would expect if it was housekeeping, and no noise afterwards. It was weird, but we were up anyway and getting ready to leave, so it didn't bother us too much. Just a good reminder to always use the extra security locks on hotel doors.

The hotel is old and historic but definitely been updated. Our room was small but beautifully designed. Very modern. Exceptionally clean.
Parking. There is valet parking. booking.com. said the parking fee was $15. It is not. It is now $18. There is no public parking overnight on the streets near the hotel. There is a public parking structure nearby but you have to pay for that as well.

The room was amazing. Restaurants were great. Staff was friendly and helpful
It was New Years Eve, so it was expected to be busy... I didn't like that prices were increased $100 for that particular night. No special package purchased, just the rates for THAT night... There was a barking dog in the room across the hall. It barked for approx. 3 hours, but that was early in the evening, so did not interfere with sleep.

The room was very nice and clean. Staff was nice.
I went to the bar to get silverware because the staff forgot it (which isn't a big deal) but when I went to the bar to ask for some about 4 to 5 staff just stood around talking or doing what they needed to do, and nobody came over to ask me if I needed anything. I tried getting anyone's attention but no luck. After about 10 minutes a nice woman came and helped me.

Loved this old style revamped hotel oozing ambiance. Staff, rooms, bathroom, happy hour were very good. Bed most comfortable ive ever slept in. Food and drinks were surprisingly excellent. Keep that Chef.
My only complaint is to put a heavier curtain over shower wall and chair in room was so squeeky. As room was good size a couple of chairs would fit.

I arrived on my motorcycle and the valets were Johnny-on-the-Spot, making a protected spot for me in the hotel's lot to park the bike. This is the second time I've stayed in the hotel, about a decade apart, and I still believe it's "the place" to stay when coming through Bakersfield. The rooms, while tiny, are extremely comfortable, with a slightly naughty peek-a-boo shower that reminds me someday I need to visit the hotel with a special friend in tow.
I am sad to report that the hotel restaurant, that I remember actually being pretty good, is no longer open or at least was not open while I was there. This surprised me somewhat, since I had planned on eating there to keep my evening simple and relaxing after a long ride on the bike. The bar and breakfast/coffee shop were still open, but I did not use them.
