**DISCLAIMER: proof of paranormal activity: The Inn has beautiful rooms with lots of history. Great food at the tavern as well and welcoming staff. We were very surprised to discover the truth about the ghost stories of the inn. We ended up being in room 5 which is close to the location of where a little girl back in the 18th century died. When we left our room for a few hours to go to dinner, we knew the sink was definitely turned off. We came back and there was a noise coming from the bathroom, my boyfriend discovered the sink was running and almost all the way full of water. Both nobs were turned all the way on when we turned it off, we both were in shock and fascinated. If this isn’t your thing, I totally understand because it sure was spooky. It is believed the little girl of the inn is known to be a prankster. We also experienced the sound of the door lock/unlock and the chair in the corner of the room creak as if someone took a seat. We didn’t hear any footsteps before or after there was a sound of the door unlocking, there is no tv in the rooms so it is very quiet at night. The next day, we ate at the tavern and told the server about what happened the night before. She confirmed numerous reports of guests hearing door knobs turn or unlock, even lights going on/off. We were told the faucet being on and filling up was a first. If you decide to stay on the second floor of the inn, just know it will be likely you will encounter spirits yourself. Especially if you are in room 5.

The room and bathroom were very clean upon our arrival. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were late arriving, and were still greeted by a warm welcome.

The major problem with our room was that the bed's height was too much. This was especially true for my 5 ft tall wife, but also for me who is 5'11". She had to use the only chair in the room to 'climb' into the bed, and I basically had to jump. We asked for and were provided with a short footstool so she could get into the bed. I think the Inn knows about this problem and should provide 2 footstools for the room. Wider ones than were provided would be better. The bed was comfortable after one scaled into it! This was not the only room with a bed that high.

We (myself, husband, daughter) stayed in adjoining rooms with a shared bathroom, which was convenient for us (we were visiting family at the beach, and just used the rooms for sleeping and showering). The rooms are indeed small! There was nowhere to open the suitcase except for on the bed, for example. But everything was updated, and the bathroom in particular was excellent--spotlessly clean, great water pressure, room to hang towels and keep toiletries.

The continental breakfast was minimal, and the older part of the inn in which it was served was a little musty.

Location was close to Ninigret wildlife refuge and to Charlestown Beach. The stories about the history of the Inn (including George Washington's visits and the Underground RR) and the prints and decor were terrific.

The Tavern, where we had dinner was freezing. The A/C was blowing on and off. There was no breakfast except for Saturday or Sunday. We were there midweek.

One of our rooms (shared private bathroom) had nowhere to store clothes. It was a small room but a chair or at least a small valet stand or bag stand would have helped. The other room had a dresser at least.

Historical property but very nicely updated and well maintained. Very clean, the personal touch in the room (welcome card and fresh cookies) was above and beyond. Beds were very comfortable and it’s always a perk to have shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower. Coffee, water, fruit and pastries in the morning were lovely.

I wouldn’t say I didn’t like it necessarily, but the rooms were very small. They do mention that in the description I guess I just underestimated how tight it would be putting our pack n play in. It fit, just was a squeeze. And no TV in the room, again it does say this in the description I just didn’t think it would be a big deal but my toddler did ha.

Beautiful Inn, incredible historic property, friendly staff and very clean, comfortable rooms. We had reservations at Matunuck Oyster Bar which shockingly burned down this week (r.i.p.), but the restaurant on the property ended up being fantastic. Amazing food and drinks. Really saved the day. I'm sure we'll be back someday.

I wasn't able to have breakfast due to having other plans, so I can't review the restaurant. I stayed in the newer section of the Inn. The room was very clean and comfortable. The air conditioning was nice and the ceiling fan was a plus as well. I was here in Charlestown for a family reunion, so it was a very convenient location. The owner gave my cousin and I a quick tour of the inn, before heading out for the day. He was very nice and accommodating. Also on the day of checkout, the manager gave me another detailed tour of the Inn, I found it very fascinating!!! The history that the Inn possesses, is priceless!!! It really has an interesting story, and they are doing a wonderful job keeping the history in tact. I wasn't able to go to the flea market that is held on the property, but will do so on my next visit.

It would have been nice to have a TV in the room, other than that, it was a very pleasant stay. :-)

Location was great for us as our daughter lives in Charlestown and we were here visiting. The Inn is very historic inside which was fun to look around. Our room was not in the Inn, but accessed from the back parking lot of the Inn. Nice with a comfortable bed and roomy enough for us. We enjoyed our stay!

Firm comfy bed, hot shower, clean, clean, clean. Very quiet rooms. Loved the bar/restaurant. Staff was nice.

The restaurant might consider serving breakfast on Sundays, at the very least. There are few places for breakfast in the area, and Sundays they fill up fast. The rooms could use an extra lamp or two.
