I stayed in the 14 bed female dormitory and had the best night's sleep on my backpacking trip there! The bed and pillow was so comfortable, easy ladder to climb (to the higher bed). Even though there were others sleeping there, it felt you have your own personal space in your wine barrel shaped bed! I appreciated all the design details! The room had a much larger feel than what I imagined it would be from just looking at the photos We had three private bathrooms for the room of 14 (I never had to wait for one to be free - it always somehow worked out well!). Great location with an awesome view that I couldn't get enough of. Breakfast was plentiful - You got a croissant, a slice of ham and cheese, yoghurt pot, there was even dark wholegrain bread available, cake, fruit, and you could buy additional pancackes or ommeletes for 1€ or 2€. Breakfast was between 8-11 and checkout time very convenient at 12. They stored my luggage for free after checkout in a locked cabinet, so it felt very safe. I liked the lockers that were code based. You even got a small guest discount for Sandemans wine cellars tour.

Someone snoring incredibly loudly at night so make sure you bring your earplugs! The location - if you're looking to spend a lot of time exploring the wine cellars, and on the boats taking trips to Duoro valley then this side of Porto (Gaia) is the place to be. If you're more after the city vibe, then choose to stay on Porto side. You have to go up and down a big hill to get to this accommodation, so be prepared for that (may not be suitable to walk if you have lots of luggage, take a taxi!) The free walking tour they recommended (Sandeman free tours) didn't have the best guide, so make sure you do your own research if you're looking for a decent quality walking tour with history.

Amazing Hostel! This hostel knows what its doing. its so good. The dorm beds are huge and so comfortable. The rooms are so spacious. the dorm bathrooms are through the main dorm room but separated by a huge corridor which is just amazing.. cant hear a thing. had a great nights sleep. the staff are so lovely and so helpful. a huge thank you to them. the main social room is a 10 out of 10. perfect place to meet travelers, you all eat breakfast around the table which is fantastic. breakfast so well organized. and u can order extra goodies like omelette if you want them. The sofa orientated around each other is just incredible socially and the view out to the river is fab! the location is 10 for us. love this side of porto. oh yeh, and these are the best lockers we've ever had travelling all across the world - love them. plugs/lights/privacy curtain on the beds. the cleaning staff were so lovely and the rooms are very clean. We stayed here with 10 friends in total and they all loved it as well. we also checked in at 1am due to flights and the staff were so helpful. THANK YOU SANDEMAN. you rock.

Loved our two night stay here. Location was great. Lots of great entertainment close by. Staff were amazing. So friendly and helpful. They really went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. The facilities are amazing. We were there during the 10 hour power outage and the staff remained friendly during a difficult situation.

In our shared bunk bed room. 13 ladies. I found there was little privacy as the small curtain on one side of the bunk bed didn’t give me any privacy. I tried hanging a towel on the other side but no joy. Next time I’ll take a large sarong to drape over the top end of the bed, which will help cut out light from other guests bed lamps. But honestly this place is amazing. Great value.

The staff, location, decor, and breakfast.

Room was a lot smaller, you don't get what you think you reserved, or paid for, it is a gamble as to what private superior room with view you get per their staff. But according to their website, and Booking.com, we got a double room, not superior, and we reserved and paid for a superior room, and they kept trying to tell us it was a Superior room. False advertising. Also many steep stairs when entering building and our room was at the top of a staircase, literally the top step to the left with another small step into the room, one wrong move and you go all the way down, not safe. When we checked in the night staff on duty grumbled when he had to help us with our bags up the stairs.

Stayed for 3 nights on our trip to Porto. This was the best choice we could have made. The Sandeman suites were next level in ambience and breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Beautiful rooms and very nice staff. In particular Mata was really helpful and friendly. Meeting the other guess at breakfast was an extra bonus to the trip if you feel like a chat or making a lone travellers day. We used the cooking facilities couple times for dinner and was well stocked with pots and pans etc.. Looking back over to Porto from Gaia was really great and not far to walk everywhere. getting a taxi on the day we left early in the morning was not a problem either. The Port tasting at Sandeman was really enjoyable and next door.

It was bit confusing which was the hostel door and the check in was on the 3rd level with no elevators. Not a problem for us but maybe for some.

Probably one of my favourite hostels I have ever stayed at. Firstly when you arrive the staff are super lovely, and accommodating to your plans in porto. The room is massive, and incredibly clean. The 14 room door had 4 bathrooms and electronic locker. The double bed was hands down the bed sleep in a hostel and the bathrooms were extremely clean

I did not release this hostel does not have an age policy and I felt so uncomfortable being surrounding with 50-80 year olds at breakfast. I sadly ended up leaving a day earlier as I wanted to stay in a social hostel with people my age 20-30 somethings.. Also didn’t release how far away this hostel was to porto and not social it was, could be due to not having a age policy

Overlooking Porto’s River and city, near lots of restaurants. I only had 10 hours in Porto and wanted to be in a central location to make the most of it. Not only is it central, but the views from the common area are amazing. The hostel is beautifully designed, even the 14 bed rooms felt spacious and comfortable. I also couldn’t stay for the free breakfast, but they were so kind they packed it for me to take out. Highly recommend staying here for a night or a week!

Everything was perfect!

The room was big and nicely decorated, comfortable bed, amazing view, lovely bathroom, excellent toiletries, record player and records! The staff was the best part of the stay. So friendly, helpful, welcoming. Great common area with bar, breakfast/dining table, and comfy hangout chairs. Loved the welcome cocktail of port and tonic. And the ability to order breakfast. Highly recommend.

Nothing. Just be aware there’s a flight of stairs to carry luggage up and down. But that’s pretty normal. It’s equipped for people with disabilities though, which is great.

I only stayed for one night but wished I could have stayed longer—unfortunately, it was fully booked! This is by far the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in and I travel a lot !!!! Beautiful design, friendly staff, cozy common area, comfortable beds, plenty of bathrooms, and large lockers with code access. The location is perfect, with a stunning view of Porto. The breakfast was delicious too. I’ll come back to Porto just to stay here again! Truly top-notch!

Fantastic suite room with sash windows overlooking the river and promenade where artists sell products. So close you could almost speak to people from the open window. Staff were motivated to make us feel comfortable and readily offered advice on things to see and do. Loved the relaxed feel of the place. Even borrowed the sandeman e bikes with thick rubber tyres. So easy to use and explore as far as the beaches. Port tours right underneath us with the special 1790 tasting which was awesome
