Location was excellent and the room was very roomy and comfortable. The staff was phenomenal and promised and delivered the best possible Douro River tour with Luis of Living Tours. Breakfast was wonderful.

Nothing. Loss of power the night of our scheduled chefs dinner at Casario was disappointing but totally beyond the control of the property. The restaurant manager recommended Terra Nova where we went and had an excellent dinner.

We loved our stay here. It was made really wonderful by the great, attentive and helpful staff (shout outs to Antonio!). The location is right in the middle of the action in the Ribeira. Some reviewers have complained about the music outside our windows, but we loved it. If we wanted to sleep before it stopped (not too late), we just closed the windows and shutters which made it quiet enough (we had rooms on the 4th and 5th floors). The bed was comfortable and the room had a desk and a little place to sit and drink the free bottle of Port wine offered by the hotel. The breakfast was good, and they were kind enough to give us breakfast boxes on our last morning when we had to leave before the kitchen opened. The transfer to the airport arranged by the hotel picked us up at the front door.

The Gran Cruz House is a fairly new hotel in an historic 16th century building with all the modern comforts you need. It has a lift and air conditioning. We were in the Vintage Room (#5) which had fantastic views from 4 windows, including one in the bathroom. The breakfast was made to order and you ate on the terrace with equally wonderful views. (The hotel has a wonderful restaurant Casario in the same place as the breakfast). The location is simply the best with easy walking distance to countless restaurants & shops.

Porto is a crowded and loud city that goes until late in the evening and you can definitely hear music and sounds on the promenade below. However that is to be expected when you chose the best location right in the heart of all the action and it didn't bother us.

The location was superb. The bedroom was small but very clean and had excellent double glazing which was essential being where the hotel is. The food was really good and the service. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

There was nowhere to sit and have a drink or enjoy the view. No space in our attic bedroom either so if you have a room on the 6th floor which must be half the size of the others there is nowhere to go and relax. We were not treated with any priority being guests at the hotel to all the non residents who fill up the restaurant in the evening before we had chance to reserve a table. No coffee machine or kettle in the room and no room service. We would not take accept an attic bedroom again.

Very clean hotel . Staff was accommodating and pleasant and went out of their way to help with any requests that we may have had. Rooms facing the river and noise level does diminish after 11pm and doors/windows soundproof also. Views of the river and bridge were magnificent and the restaurant was fabulous!! Would stay here again if I ever return to Portugal

First of all, the manager was super professional and friendly. He was always cheerful and willing and able to help us with anything. The breakfast was first class, and free. One of the best, if not the best, breakfast at a hotel. I've stayed at many hotels and this one was a gem. The location was perfect, right at the Ribera waterfront,with dazzling views. Loved the balcony. An example was when we were going to take the High Speed train to Lisbon, we asked him how to do it. We had a plan as suggested by a guide, but he said it was too risky with a too tight transfer. He said, "I'll tell you exactly what to do'. and it was spot on.

Incredible location with curated finishes and a truly boutique hotel feel! You are right in the thick of Riberia with a buzz outside your door. Walking distance to all the sites and neighbors with great wine bars, and cuisine. Breakfast was delicious and included. Highly recommend!

Noise- With the extensive renovations done to the property (you could tell they had been done with care!) it would have been good to have thicker windows for the noise. You felt like you were outside with the street performers. The shutters help, but still loud.

Great location in terms of views of the River Duoro and for getting to the sights we wished to visit. However - and this is not the fault of the hotel - the Riberia location is rammed with tourists and it's too much. Breakfast was delicious - all cooked to order and decent choice - really fresh and varied. Hotel restaurant is also very good - we pre-booked and it was just as well as it was full. For both meals there are seats inside and on the terrace overlooking the Duoro - lovely. Very nice staff.

I would have appreciated some more amenities in the room - especially as this is an expensive hotel. Tea and coffee makers and a small fridge could be accommodated and would be a great addition.

Breakfast was delicious. Iberico ham & sheep’s cheese a treat. Loved the coffee. Location is fantastic for exploring on foot.

Pick-up and drop-off at the hotel just allowed by certain taxis. If you travel with a substantial amount of luggage you will need to schlepp it to the pick-up and from the drop-off yourself. This should be clearly stated when booking and the transportation to be used suggestedPeefect
