We loved everything about Porto but especially the accommodations we had booked at Apartmentos The Arc Carris.. The unit we stayed in was supremely clean, very modern, and so spacious. The breakfast was the best we had in our entire stay in Portugal and that was over 11 days in other cities like Lisbon..Everything that is advertised and shown in the brochures or online profile is exactly what you will find.. .No disappointments and no surprises ..The front desk reception personnel (which is at the bigger hotel across the street) were all very friendly and helpful with our check in and check out..It made our time in Porto , albiet too short in retrospect ,so much more pleasant. We would definitely recommend staying at The Arc Carris and hope some day we can return there ourselves. .

This is an actual apartment with a full bathroom, kitchen, living room and two bedrooms. The property is managed by the hotel across the street from the building, where the apartment is located, so check-in was idernical to a regular hotel check-in. We were given the codes to the doors of the building as well as our apartment. There were 5 of us travelling and there was plenty of room for all. Beds were comfy and the water pressure amazing!!! There were some water bottles and fruits left for us, along with Nespresso machine capsules and tea. The apartment is a few block away from the river, the views from the rooms were superb. the beauty of this accomodation is that it is equally easy to get to all wine cellers on the other side of Duoro river (a five minute walk through the tunnel and across the bridge - which is a great experience in itself!). and at the same time, you can easly get to Bolsa Palace, the Church of San Francisco, Sao Bento Train station, etc.

The outer door to street was never locked. We were approached by beggars on every entry. Perhaps hotel staff could walk us over the first time because the door is difficult to recognize and in the meantime we were dealing with aggressive beggars and handling our luggage. After the initial entry we knew what to be aware of.

Location, location, location! We had a large apartment (#4.2) on the 4th floor 1 block from the river. Fabulous views out of 2 of the 4 floor to ceiling windows from the living room . Wrap around terrace. Super secret entrance felt very 007 like. Great kitchen!

Only 1 bath, which was a very nice bath, but there was only 1 other mirror in the apartment. It was under the stairs in the kitchen . Trying to do hair and makeup while someone else was showering was difficult. Wish there were mirrors in the 2 bedrooms with electrical outlets for hair dryer/curling irons. Traffic noise did not bother us, but if you have a problem with city life, this isn’t the place for you.

Location- couldn’t be better! Right in the heart of the historical centre. Comfort- bed extremely comfortable, good to have air cons Nice to have a small terrace with views of the bridge. Felt very private. security- the use of a code was great and hearing the door lock made you feel very secure. Equally the multiple code pads to enter the building made you feel very safe. housekeeping- consistent, thorough, even putting the dishwasher on- thank you. Early check in as it was possible- this is very helpful and a check out of 12pm was great too. Kitchen was very well stocked including microwave. Bathroom also well stocked with shower gel, conditioner and shampoo. Loved the Easter display in the foyer!

The same song is playing in the lobby and lift the whole time (acoustic version of ‘rude’) A smell as you walk in from the bathroom perhaps- a bit damp. Not enough to bother us as you couldn’t smell from the living area down the stairs. Thought it was interesting that the lady who checked us out didn’t ask how our stay was.

We loved the location, you are in the heart of Porto, very close to the river, the street is busy, but we have not heard the noise. It was easy to pick up the keys - we just went to the opposite hotel. The breakfast was also there. It was a classic continental breakfast, rich and tasty, even mimosa coctail and pastel de nata were served. Our room had 2 floors, each had a double bed and a separate bathroom, all inpeccable clean. The design is great, ceilings are very high and the windows are huge, we had a balkony and loved the view. We did not use the kitchen, but it seemed, it had everything one may need for cooking.

All was perfect.

We loved the location - it was walkable and in the middle of everything! The space was beautiful and we will definately come back and will want to stay here again! We also got massages and that was the best part of our trip! It was a part of the hotel and it was the best massage we've ever gotten - it was amazing!!

It was very interesting that we only got two nespresso coffee pods for the entirely of our stay. When we called the front desk for more as we didn't need our room cleaned, they mentioned that it's only provided for the first day. Which felt so weird compared to how most/all hotels/airbnbs provide more than one per person. Secondly, the shower leaks beyond the small screen provided. Overall it was still a wonderful stay! The space was spacious for my husband and I. We got another room for our friends and they loved it as well.

We loved the location of the apartment, everything was close by and easy to walk to. Lots of restaurants and little supermarkets in the area. The apartment was a good size for a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers.

The showers were either really hot or really cold. It was difficult to get it right. The kitchen could benefit from some more utensils and a cutting board. Additionally, I had to request a dish cloth as there was nothing to wipe down the benches or clean the dishes if washing by hand. I did receive a cloth from the staff upon my request. There was also no dishwashing liquid so we just used the hand wash from the bathroom. These are only small things but worth mentioning.

We used the kitchen and purchased our own groceries....it was extremely convenient and the location was fantastic! View of the river, and also a great spot close to the port!

The air conditioner was a bit finicky so the upper part of the apartment got quite hot as it was difficult to get the air con to stay on. The lock code for the main building wasn't working on our last day, but the service from the front desk to allow us in and out of the apartments was fantastic.

Hard to park and directions were not great ! They should explain that there was an hotel to collect the keys and not just say “ key will be at the reception” needed to be clear . I thought the apartments had a reception desk. The door to get into the apartment was not clear! It seemed to belong to the restaurant next door. Someone should really had walked us to the door and explain how it works. We had the good will of another guest staying at the apartments to show us how it worked!
