It was beautiful right off the freeway and literally a mile from downtown Santa Cruz but World’s away. We loved the restaurant and bar created a lot of ambience. There was an outdoor place and then the restaurant was sweet as well. They have happy hour every day and really good drinks. Also, just the outdoor place with the grass trees and pool just really peaceful and pretty . We brought our 92 year-old mom and the staff was great. They switched our room around so we could literally drive right up to the door and let her i. Sounds like a little thing, but we were able to use the walker and didn’t have to take the wheelchair out every time . They also changed it so we had a shower that she could get into easily. It was all very accommodating. This is because they didn’t actually have an ADA room available and they really tried to accommodate us and did.

It is right on the freeway? Sometimes you can hear the big truck go by. The only other thing is we stayed in the bottom building and for access. We’re just at the parking lot and it kind of just needs to be paved. There are rooms called Garden view rooms that have their own Adirondack chairs and overlook the backside. They look really cool.

CLEAN large room. Refrigerator & microwave great bonus . Excellent & easy location to the freeway. And surprisingly quiet being so close to the freeway. Heater & fan worked great. Friendly welcoming front desk staff. Loved the "Back9" restaurant. Great after a long day of travel to have a restaurant on site. Excellent food & reasonable price. I would come back just for the onions rings!

If I were to be picky, the placement of the TV. Odd to have it on the left of the bed. And would have been nice to have a bed side table on both sides of the bed.

Beautiful larger room good for our family with two kids 5 and under. We brought an extra inflatable mattress for our 3 year old and there was plenty of room for him. We loved being on he pool side near the grass where our kids could play. Pool was lovely for our family too with good lounge chairs for everyone. We could easily bring picnic foods/snacks down to the pool area and still feel "on vacation" here without having to leave. Good strong peets coffee is served in the lobby for breakfast. We did end up taking advantage of the on site restaurant when our kids didn't want to go out again and though it would not be our first choice, it was still a solid option with something everyone liked. It's clearly a regular spot for some locals because I heard our server know other people's names and their usual order by memory!

When the room behind us was running the sink, the plumping made a very loud reverberating sound that woke up our kids (our kids do go to bed early because they are little), OR would drown our the sound from the family evening movie we found to watch in main room. This was very annoying but likely wouldn't prevent us from staying again OR be even noticeable to people who are out of the room during peak sink usage times. Breakfast foods (including the coffee) went quickly and lacked protein-forward selections (like an egg sandwich, hard boiled eggs, toast and but butter options) which would have been appreciated for those who don't want sugar heavy pastries (scones, donuts). Get to breakfast right when it opens if you want some!

Rooms were clean and everything was functioning. The staff and restaurant workers were so polite and we enjoyed our dinner there.

Only one complaint, the pool. The pool needs to be redone. The layers of the bottom of the pool are coming off! Chunks of pieces are coming off and you can see this as you walk up to it. My son loves to swim however, he was afraid to get in because he was worried he could cut his foot with the pieces of pool trim on the bottom floor. I got in to show him it's OK and not dangerous but he was never at ease. The pool NEEDS ATTENTION ASAP!!

Beautiful property with a grassy place for kids to play and a nice salt water pool. The Peet’s coffee and pastries in the office was a nice treat. The rooms were clean with lots of space. Even with two adults and two kids. The staff were very friendly.

We didn’t like the first room we had because it was at the end with a view of a dirt lot. The room was nice but not the best spot if you have kids. They did give us a free upgrade to the patio room by the pool.

The location off Hwy 17 was excellent. Parking spot outside the room very convenient. I liked the walk-in shower with only a small step to get in. The A/C unit worked fine. The bed was comfortable although it was so overly high it was difficult for my short body to get up into it! Could have used a step stool! The overly high mattresses/box springs combo seem to be the norm nowadays. Liked that it included a microwave and refrigerator in the room. The temperature of the pool water was perfect. The pool furniture was upmarket metal frame with several covered lounge seats and there were tables and chairs available.

The pool had no handicap chair to enter it. The pool bottom needs some attention as there were black areas around the uneven bottom surface spots. No obvious safety signs around the pool and the rest rooms were not labelled so I didn't know they were there until someone had left a door open. There are many chipped and uneven flagstones on the pool deck. The only entrance to the pool was via a very very steep concrete path, > 6% slope with no hand rail, just a waist high concrete retaining wall on one side to hold onto, and it was difficult to safely use.

Great spacious and quiet room. Nice bathroom; little coffee machine, microwave etc. Plenty parking space.

From the picture we were expecting a nice green area (grass), where perhaps we could go seat and relax, eand a swimming pool. The green area is a small patch of fake grass and the swimming pool did not really feel very inviting; we did not dare trying it and not sure that in fact it was open.

It was quiet, nice garden and view of pool, pastries were very good, the receptionist was friendly and welcoming, nice lobby and plenty of close parking to hotel room.

The pool closed too early, maybe offer decaf or juice options for non caffeine drinkers (children), had many visible minor incomplete repairs, torn shower curtain, no vanity mirror outside of the bathroom.

Spotless clean room in an older well-maintained building. Good room size and layout. Friendly front desk staff. WiFi worked great and no password was required. Quiet at night even though near busy Highway 17.

Watch out! Parking lot asphalt is much-patched and uneven and not well-lit at night. I almost fell when walking from car to room at night. Bed in room was almost waist high off the floor. Door into the bathroom is a sliding pocket door.

The rooms were simple but nice and the property is extremely accessible. Away from crowds and traffic of Santa Cruz but only a 5/10 min drive to town. It also gave quick access to redwood state parks. The restaurant was delicious!!

I was a bit surprised by the motel feel at first because I didn’t gather that from the pics but it was quite nice and turned out to be a fabulous decision for our family.
