Bed was comfortable. Shower had hot water quick. The check-in was pleasant and staff was courteous and helpful. Convenient to Custer state park. TV worked well after we got it plugged back in. (Someone had unplugged it)

Parking had one truck parked too far in harder to get around. Another was put in room beside us and we put cooler in back seat hard to get things out of your car when ones parked by us and the rest of parking lot seemed empty. Had a porch so you couldn't park as close had to carry everything around the vehicles and the porch. My husband is handicapped so it was harder but , I hadn't specified needing handicapped since all on ground floor.

This is an older motel but very well cared for. It was just right for our visit. Walking distance from Family Dollar and a cute laundromat with good prices. There was an excellent taproom right next door that also has an attached restaurant. Cute little mainstreet type stores to stroll though. My teenagers loved the indoor pool. Staff anticipated needs and were very friendly but not intrusive. A great stay all around.

Very close to all of our planned activities. Staff was very friendly, actually changed sheets everyday. Shower was good and hot, never got cold on us. Hot tub and pool area was very clean. Loved the rose quart boulders out front front, those had to cost a pretty penny to get.

The room I felt was a little small. But I went with price, not comfort. The doorknob is wore out, and the key can be removed while turned, which leaves the door unlocked. We tried to duplicate that result for staff, and of course it only functioned as it should lol. The ice machine doesn't work.

The property is perfectly located. It is the start of the Custer downtown area. We could walk to every restaurant and there was one literally 15 steps from the motel. The staff was so kind. Our car broke down and we didn’t know how long we would have to stay. They kindly blocked our room for us for 2 weeks. Thank goodness we didn’t need the 2 weeks. Just 4 extra days. They were fabulous. Don’t hesitate to book here. You will not be disappointed. I wish I could give them a million stars.

Great location. So many places to go within walking distance. Late afternoon/early evening you would just see people walking around town. Everything was local to town, no fast-food chains which gave you a chance to experience mom and pop shops. The pool was bigger than most hotel pools, with the hot tub and sauna it made for a very relaxing time with the family.

There was a distinct smell in our room which we could not figure out. But we were only in the room at night so did not feel the need to complain.

Room was very clean, beds were comfortable. Nice pool, hot tub and sauna. Location was on the main street so you could walk to most restaurants. This is a nice old style motel,parking outside your room.

Room was dated but clean and had the facilities that we required. Housekeeping staff were very good, exceeded my expectations with changing linen and towels etc. When we checked in, the man on the desk, possibly the owner, couldn't have been more helpful. We have never been to Custer before and after checking us in he suggested a couple of things that we might like go check out. We obviously intended to go to Mt Rushmore and to The Crazy Horse memorial site. However he suggested travelling on the Needles road and the Iron Mountain road if going to Rushmore. To go that way we needed an entry fee for the Custer State Park. It was the best $20.00 I've ever spent on sight seeing anywhere. Sensational and awesome are words that still don't do it justice. We were very close to the attractions that we wanted to see. The town also had everything we needed.

I said the motel is dated but realistically it was everything we expected and a bit more. The staff make it so. We stayed at a Ramada in Niagara, where there weren't even any coffee making facilities in the room or at the reception/Unwelcoming area. There staff tended to look down there noses at you. Totally different to the Chief Motel. Refreshing to engage with people who know what guests want.

Easy and efficient check-in. Room was upgraded. Manager provided good info re dining and attractions. Clean and comfortable room. Lots of towels, pillows, lighting, outlets, and toiletries. Good shower. Room included dining table. Assigned parking just outside our room which was nice. Refrigerator w/small freezer provided. Good restaurants in area and within walking distance. Good WiFi and TV. Good heater. Digital clock included. Good bedside lamps provided for reading. Really liked this property.

Bathroom shower door needed to be cleaned as mold was forming. Also, shower floor was slippery even though several rubber strips were provided. If not more rubber strips, then perhaps a rubber mat should be included. Non-smoking rooms had chairs and ashtrays located immediately outside entry door. Would have preferred a smoking court be provided away from non-smoking rooms.

Friendly staff, beautiful bedspreads and lovely decorations in the room.Bed was comfortable. Indoor pool and hot spa. Great toilet paper and plenty of towels. I liked the assigned parking in front of my room door.

Hotel is older and rooms are a little on the small side. I didn't t see vending machines.

The hotel was centrally located to all the places we visited which was fantastic. There was an assigned parking spot for our room. The pool, hot tub, and sauna were great. The staff was very nice and they helped suggest places to eat. The food was fantastic.

The shower and toilet were outdated but that is a nitpicky thing that did not affect our stay.
