The view from the sea view rooms has the most amazing sunrises and is completely worth the money if that's your thing!!! The courtesy bus was an easy way to get from the hotel to the station/ Miyajima ferry. The night cruise was fun even though it is in Japanese language only, and, the boat literally got directly under the Itsukushima Tori Gate, so it was a completely different experience compared to viewing it from land during the day. We visited during the G7 summit so the hotel was very quiet. We had the Italian restaurant completely to ourselves, the views and excellent service and food made it feel quite special. Would definitely stay again

We were unable to use the hotels Onsen due to having tattoos, we thought this may be the case so were not too upset, however for fellow travellers with tattoos it is worth mentioning to avoid disappointment. There was a lack of clear instructions/ communication on how to get the courtesy bus from the station to the hotel so we ended up catching a cab from the station to the hotel. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the closest convenience store (apart from the very overpriced store in the hotel). There was a lcak of communication around the included breakfast meaning we missed our breakfast on the 2nd day

The balcony was nice to be outside and have the view of Miyajima island. There was a wide variety of breakfast foods. Staff was super kind and helpful. The hotel was dated, but clean!

We had some trouble with the air conditioner in our room: the controls were hard to find, but also once we found and turned on it did not really work, made for a real warm night haha We had to book the private onsen, because we have tattoos and were unable to go into the public. I understand this is a cultural thing and respect that, however many public onsen these days are fine with tattoos, so it just would have been nice for that to be communicated earlier (part of the reason we chose Aki was for the onsen use). Because of this we had to book the private onsen instead, which was lovely, however not truly an onsen. You can't actually shower or bath in it, it is basically a hot tub experience (again, beautiful but not what we were hoping for).

Staff upgraded our room from mountain view to ocean view. Staff showed up to lay out futon beds. Tea and snacks were much appreciated. Beautiful view of water and Miyajima island. Free shuttle bus to train station was valuable since hotel is not that close. Wonderful breakfast buffet with fresh onigiri and great variety of dishes. Night cruise to torii gate was memorable. Nice gift shop staffed after completion of night cruise allowed us to get souvenirs.

Distance from train station discouraged us from walking, but shuttle was convenient for our schedule. Not many restaurants close by. Additional charges for onsen which we didn't use.

Our first impression was that the hotel had seen better days and we were paying somewhat over the odds, but after experiencing the kaisekiryori dinner, we changed our minds. For a deep-dive Japanese experience, the hotel was hard to beat. The fine dining kaisekiryori was excellent and there was also a very good spread at breakfast. Our room was almost directly opposite Ikutsushima shrine- great views of the oyster beds and surrounding coastline.

The onsen was a bit of a disappointment. We’d expected an outdoor bath with views across the sea but it turned out that to experience this, you had to pay quite a lot more (excess of 3000 yen per person). The marketing is also a little misleading in that it suggests that the hotel is on Miyajima when in fact it is on the mainland. A shuttle bus (free) connects you to Miyajimaguchi Station and from there, you can take the ferry to Miyajima and Ikutsushima shrine.

The staff were extremely helpful. It was unfortunate that my nephew was sick and we had to send him to the hospital. The staff arranged for an ambulance for us and were very attentive to my nephew, while waiting for the ambulance. They even stood-by in the cold besides the ambulance while the medical examination was being done, until the ambulance left the hotel. My sincere appreciation to the staff.

My greatest disappointment is the night cruise. The cruise guide could not speak English and there was no recorded English commentary. Had no idea what was going on during the entire cruise and felt neglected.

The views from this hotel are amazing. Our room looked out to Miyajima Island and the Tori Gate. We loved watching the sun go down in the main foyer looking out over the water while listening to live jazz and sipping drinks at the lounge bar. The private Onsen was beautiful which also looked over the water which you can book for an extra cost. The room was quite large for Japanese standard accommodation and very comfortable. Yes it is a bit dated but completely functional and clean. Breakfast and dinner in the dining room was very traditional with great service. We also paid for a boat trip out to the Tori Gate after dinner which was magical. The staff don’t speak much English but they were helpful. We would definitely recommend this hotel for the experience and location. This was a true highlight of our trip.

The hotel was surprisingly nice, the shuttle to and from the train station is super convenient. The staff are super helpful and nice. We had the Japanese room with ocean view, it was spacious and the view was stunning. We asked them to double stack the futon for a more comfortable sleep which they happily did. The public onsen is clean and spacious only a cold bath is missing. Even if the hotel was full it was never crowded. The breakfast was plentiful and good. The hotel reminded me of the interior of a cruise ship, I personally loved that as it’s very spacious and airy. I would not hesitate to go back as two nights is a short stay.

The bathroom was clean but could use an update.

Wonderful hotel with sea views Nice big room Amazing kaiseki dinner - with English menu! (Special thanks to the English speaking waiter who helped introduce the food and recommended a delicious sake!!) Shuttle to get to the station - but you can reach the ferry in line 15min walking if you don’t have a suitcase There was a night cruise to see the great torii at tonight but i didn’t do it Lots of comments mention “dated rooms”, but they are in amazing condition - it may not be new but it is all perfectly maintened

The public onsen is underground, only the paid private ones have see view (and they were fully booked) When people opened the sliding windows in the neighboring rooms, it woke me up at 6am. The windows are very loud (but thanks to that I got to witness the sunrise on Miyajima!)

We booked the room with a sea view and got a good view of the Itsukushima Jinja torii on Miyajima. The room was well equipped and had yukata and other necessities provided for a great onsen experience. The public baths were good, and we also booked the private onsen for 45 minutes in the evening and got to enjoy complete privacy and comfort and a magnificent full moon over Miyajima while soaking in the natural spring water - probably the best onsen experience we've had in Japan so far! The traditional Japanese dinner was a superb nine-course affair and although breakfast was a buffet style, we still got all the traditional Japanese dishes as well. The hotel lobby, lounge, terrace and other public areas were nicely designed and all the staff were very helpful.

It was a pity that the main staff member who gave an extensive explanation of our dinner menu did not speak English, but luckily one of the waiters spoke English (he happened to be from Nepal) and did his best to translate/explain to us. Still, overall we had a great experience!

I got myself the sea view room. View is fantastic! Room is big and comfortable. The shuttle bus service is punctual and it surely eases my trip to the train station. The frequency is also suffice! The Japanese style breakfast for my first day was great! Very exquisitely done and delicious! The private onsen is highly recommended! I love the privacy and the view. All the staff at reception and souvenir shop are all very friendly and helpful, especially the staff named Chen at the reception.

The night cruise. Not sure if they did not forsee and foreigners who do not understand Japanese. The cruise trip was fully done in Japanese and I don’t understand a word from the guide. Sad but overall is still fine.
