Everything was perfect!
I would like to mention two things. First, I came down to have breakfast and the heating on the breakfast lounge was not on. Outside it had snow and 1 degree. So, I had to go back to my room to get my jacket in order to be able to eat my breakfast. You should start the heating and the fire place at least one hour before the breakfast opens. Second, you need to place some hangers for the towels next to the bath in the room. When you finish your bath and you don't have a hanger to put your towel close by. Despite those two things, the hotel is amazing, I am a regular customer.

This was our first stay. We were very impressed with the whole experience. Staff were welcoming. The food both dinner and breakfast was excellent. The hotel sits in lovely grounds. Our room, we booked a suite, The Ribble Suite was very comfortable with the most amazing four poster bed. Our only initial concern was the height of the base of the bed to get in and out of (we are in our seventies) however we coped admirably! The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was large with a bath and a walk in shower. We couldn’t fault the hotel, would happily recommend it and we will return.

Hotel is absolutely beautiful and when we walked in it was just so cozy and I thought I wonder what this would’ve looked like at Christmas. We had a drink by the fire late at night and I didn’t want the night to end. Would love to stay again if I could afford it in the future.
Although there were two fans in the room. It was absolutely sweltering all night and we barely slept plus we had the dog with us. He was up and down and panting all night and we had to keep putting him in the shower. Drive home was gruelling the next morning. Not sure if we were above the kitchen or not, it was room 106.

excellent, interesting building and excellent staff attitude helpful and friendly. a good dinner and breakfast, and a chance to spend time with colleagues, and close to Clitheroe where we working.
The interior of the hall was so charming, I expected to find some garden of commensurate character, and I think some attention could be given to adjusting the carparking and service areas to create a place for walking and talking, and taking a drink outside. Oddly difficult to enjoy nice views of the surrounding countryside.

Great location, stunning hotel, very friendly staff and great bar food menu.. had the haddock, was fresh and really tasty, good selection of drinks, pretty cool ambience and decoration in the main room. Breakfast was also great and included in the room price !
had a standard basic room ( 110) which was fine for the cost. Just a couple of notes - there is very little room from the toilet to the sink, its really cramped for anyone of a certain size.. I am average and skinny! The shower tray was not clean, found some unpleasant hair... not the biggest deal but not great nor expected. And bizarrely, there were crumbs (probably from cookies) and lint in the drawers beneath the tea and coffee unit, so did not want to put my clothes in any of the drawers..presumably sloppy room cleaning. Bed was very comfortable and the room overall was fine.

Excellent breakfast full english cooked beautifully. Very welcoming wonderful big house the first thing to great you is a huge glowing fire and lots of settees and large comfy chairs. All the staff we spoke to were very friendly and more than once went out of their way to get information for us on places we wanted to visit. We will be staying there at least twice a year now as friends moving 15 minutes away and it will be our stop off from now on when we return from our yearly trip to Ireland. Wonderful toiletries and very generous with tea coffee left each day. Stayed 3 days they changed towels every day even though we put them back to use again.
If i have to find one thing it would be larger cups in the rooms as we are used to a mug size drink. But no issue we know to take some next year.

Beautiful old building with an interesting history. Lovely grounds. Nice meal, great bar and good staff.
Portion size of meals was way too big for me. Would have preferred my meal a bit more balanced as well (more vegetables and less starch). Room was a tiny bit faded and hard to get to with a big case but that is no surprise in and old building. Windows only opened at the top which made it hard to get fresh air for those who like an open window at night.

The hotel is very atmospheric in a historical sense and we were pleasantly surprised when we walked through the main door. The cooked breakfast was excellent but there was a more limited choice for the continental breakfast although there was a bowl of fresh fruit salad and some tasty croissants, cereals etc. We chose a standard room on this occasion which was a bargain as it included breakfast. Although the photo of the room was small, it was in fact, modern and comfortable with all the usual amenities. Would love to try a suite on another occasion as there are were good deals.. great Xmas tree apparently arriving soon!
No fitness room as far we are aware but were not expecting this.

The history of the place and location
Nothing except that the grounds person was blowing the leaves into the brook that runs by. We thought the leaves would clog up the waterway or at least dilute possible toxins to the wildlife, which might be worse? Also he was blowing stuff close to my car as I was packing up, with doors open, so I was doubly perplexed.
