Setting and outdoor seating area was beautiful. The staff on the whole were friendly and helpful. My room was lovely and comfortable and spotlessly clean.

Sounds silly, but the building was far too warm. The bar area where we had breakfast was in need of decoration, and the seats were obviously past their best. Every time I went to the bar at the wedding I was attending, I waited quite a long time to get served. The bar staff were never behind the bar.

Location great - food was lovely - it does boast on reading a great selection of cask ales there was only one and it was a pale ale would not put that as a cask like the likes of wainwrights or Timothy Taylor room was nice and spacious but overlooked the car park but can’t always get the best rooms I suppose staff friendly on arrival

The room itself was spacious plenty of sockets and lighting curtains have seen better days though bathroom very 60s handles in bath which should be removed - fan could do with a clean letting out dirt when on - taps need updating and there was no bath mat had to put a towel on floor to stand on getting out of the bath - bed was uncomfortable so I was tossing and turning most of the night

Big shout out to Georgia, the head receptionist and amazing first aider. When I took a rather dramatic tumble down a large flight of concrete steps during the preparations for my daughters wedding later that day, she was immediately on hand to her me for and well enough for the wedding to continue. The rest of the staff that day were amazing. The venue itself is amazing, food was fantastic and everywhere was spotless

The lady in charge of the dining room for breakfast the following day , sadly I didn't manage to see her name badge , was extremely abrupt and rude , she was very selective as to who she spoke to and when asked for sauce she just pointed to the adjacent table, she also began to clear a table before everyone at the table had finished, unfortunately her attitude tainted what had been an amazing stay at a stunning venue, what should have been a lovely end to the wedding party's stay was negatively impacted by her .

The gardens are gorgeous. Fantastic view of them from my room. My room was clean and comfortable, just abit more attention to the shower and had everything I needed. Tv brew station etc and the shower was good. Good temp and power was perfect. Food was fantastic. My second time here for a wedding and I would stay over again.

Shower could have done with more attention to detail with the cleaning. Black scum round the edges at the bottom. Room 11. Friends room had cobwebs dangling from the ceiling room 2.

Lovely countryside location, very quiet, Good car parking. Good value breakfast. Very helpful reception staff when the room key card failed.

Stayed four nights and on two nights the key card failed and a visit to reception was required in order to have the card re-formatted. Fortunately it was not raining, but as we were in the annex some distance from reception we would have been very wet trying to get into our room if it had been.

Very comfortable just avoid weddings, we weren’t told that there was school prom on that evening which we were slightly disappointed about - but the music stopped at 11pm May be the staff should warn when booking as it did affect the tranquility somewhat ( even if it made us feel young again!)as above

Beautiful location, had a room with comfy bed, walk-in shower, and a lovely view, nice garden with lots of birds, very helpful staff who offered to bring my luggage to my room, good choice on menu and well cooked and presented food, I have been staying at this hotel for several years and will continue to do so.

We had actually forgotten about the Higher Trapp as a place to stay. We will definitely stay there again. The staff were all friendly, the room was spacious and clean and the food was excellent at any time of day.

We attended a wedding here before, but never stayed. Our room was directly opposite the door from the stairs, other than some rowdy people around 11.30pm it was very quiet. We had a four poster bed in the rom which was very creaky, every time we turned over but the room was large, had everything we needed and a fab Coffee Machine.

The bathroom was in need of a freshen up. Some wood panelling was a bit warped and the silicone around the edges had gone black. The bath taps and plugs were very old. A good update would have made the stay a little better, but it was all clean.

Attended for a wedding, stunning location, very attentive and friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, good food, the building itself is gorgeous and feels spacious, our room was nice and clean

The bar was quite expensive but that was expected! A fridge in the room would have been nice.
