Ed was extremely accommodating when we arrived at the property. He was patient and kind and even took the time to chat with us whilst we enjoyed a coffee. We were made to feel at home almost instantly and nothing was any bother. The room was clean and comfortable and the views from the front were fabulous. Ed accommodated a lovely breakfast before we left, which consisted of fruits, pastries and a mixture of juices. We also had a cooked English breakfast, which was delicious! My partner was feeling a bit delicate before we left (too much beer the night before) and Ed even made sure we were well equipped for our journey home! Thank you Babbacombe Downs. You made us feel very welcome.

The breakfast was wonderful. Great berries, yoghurt & cereal choices and the smoked salmon & scrambled eggs were amazing. There is no parking but we were able to pull up to load/unload, easier because it was out of season I imagine. Room 12 on 2nd floor has a Superking bed, very comfortable. Excellent walk-in shower in that room too. The sea view is to die for of course!

Upper floors are accessed by stairs so be prepared for that.

Good local produce and credit to the chef for his perfect poached eggs Excellent location and fantastic sea views from the bedroom Staff extremely friendly pre booking and during stay I stayed in the Compact 1st floor room which had king size bed and was ideal for my stay warm clean and welcoming

Cost per night is high but hotels are also paying higher costs due to cost of living therefore this impacts on the price per night But not a criticism

The view from the balcony and how quiet it was

£5 fee to have breakfast on the balcony we thought was a little strange when you pay for the room and breakfast we feel it should have been part of the service.

Location was fantastic, and the view was incredible. Had breakfast on our last day and the choices were plentiful and the quality was a really good standard. The staff couldn't do more for us and were so welcoming and helpful. I would certainly go back here!

The place is a little dated but that's what gives it, it's charm. The rooms and everything were perfect.

The location beautiful views and walking distance to the theatre and other restaurants. Fantastic evening meal and breakfast. Generous portions.

The hotel was a bit dated and the room was a little bit cramped but cosy and homely.

Seafront view balcony with chairs & table. Clean room. Good bedding & towels. Hairdryer. 'Working staff'- Jazz, Beth & the other lady(sorry can't remember her name) all very friendly & helpful thank you, a credit to your establishment!!

Breakfast would have been an extra £10 each on top of what we paid to stay here! So we didn't have it as not only is that expensive I wouldn't have eaten £10's worth. Cheap shower. Shower curtain had seen better days! No parking- had to buy an 8 day permit £45 for car park behind property. No one said thank you for staying & goodbye... Never saw owners

We loved the location of the hotel, awesome views from the room and from the balcony. Friendly ,helpfull stuff. Easy access, short distance to the beach. Delicious breakfast! Money well spent👌

The weather?

. The view is amazing . Staff lovely especially Beth who is so good , looks after you and nothing is too much trouble for her . Even though short staffed and she did quite a lot by herself. She is jack of all and a little diamond Breakfast was gorgeous, piping hot for the cooked, and also a good choice of cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit etc . We had a lovely evening meal, the fish I had was delicious and my husband devoured the fish pie . Unfortunately we only ate the one night due to staff shortages I believe ,so can't comment on anything else on the menu 😔. We didnt want to go to a busy place and The Downs was just right for us . If you are looking for a relaxing break this is for you .

Shower in room 11 could do with being replaced if I was honest . Understand not a power shower but was very hard to wash soap.out of hair etc . We did ask about it and did what was asked of us ( pressing button ) but still not great . In saying that it really did not affect our stay . Just took a bit longer for a shower .

With the window open the pub next door was a bit noisy. Window closed it was fine
