Well worth a stay as long as you are happy with the limitations of being in a room first in service in the 1930's, which for us was part of the charm. Room size was adequate, cleanliness was good and we had an excellent view of Long Beach from our portholes (which opened). Staff were helpful but we almost found out by accident that guests were entitled to a discount on the ships tours, which were excellent, and free entry to a fantastic Jazz night in the main bar ($20 pp normally) which was the highlight of our stay. There is a lot of ship to explore and a lot of history to absorb. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay on board.

The thing that stood out for us was the lack of the usual in-room basics such a coffee maker or fridge although there was space for them, it was obvious that the aim was to get guests to part with more money at the on-ship dining outlets, fortunately the quality was good. Comfort-wise the bed was the smallest and least comfortable of the whole trip, although not actually uncomfortable it could have been better. One other thing to remember is that being a dock you have to use ground transport to see anything of Long Beach or LA itself, walking is not really an option. If your driving, parking is charged at $20 per day. Guests with limited mobility would have issues with access to some areas of the ship but that is to be expected considering the Queen Mary's age.

The ship was amazing, and there is so much history. Thank goodness it was 56 degrees outside. There is no AC. We were able to get a fan and open the porthole..

No air conditioner in rooms.

Historical and unique destination. Tour guides were outstanding. Wait staff were very attentive. I had an emotional response when I removed the drawer in the stateroom and found notes left by soldiers from WWII.

Dining options are limited. I would have preferred more emphasis on the wartime years when converted to a group ship.

It was fun to be on the ship. We loved walking after dinner and looking at the Harbor. This was so much better than just a motel/hotel room. The room was spacious. The portholes opened, so we had fresh air. The bed was comfortable with good sheets. We hosted friends for dinner. The table service was excellent. There was a coffee shop onboard. The bar was active. The views were excellent.

The Queen Mary is an old ship. The bathtub was worn out. One of the portholes wouldn't close all the way (which was fine with me as I wanted fresh air). The photo on the website showed 2 chairs in the room; there was only one. (However, we asked the desk for another and got one.) Parking is not included in the room rate.

It was absolutely perfect overall. The room was HUGE, the view was great, and the tours were fantastic (we did the Glory something and Graveyard with just incredible tour guides [shoutout to Scott--gosh I hope I'm remembering his name correctly & Gil]). We didn't have breakfast there, but dinner options were far above our expectations. The Observation Bar was our favorite part, with excellent drinks! Oh, and dressing up for the Alex Mendham & seeing people dance, and also dressed up... wow, it was a perfect getaway weekend. It's been a month since we went, and we can't stop talking about it. Can't wait to go back :) Oh, we thought the room was going to be too hot bc it was too hot bc no AC, but it was actually great. Thanks! (and thanks for the better rate on booking.com!)

The rooms were a bit pricey, but I guess it is what it is in July of 2025, haha. We look forward to returning on "off" season (we live in Southern California (Ventura County), so we should take advantage of our proximity!). Also, it would have been nice to know that there'd be a Warped Tour going on across the water, which we could hear too well.

This isn't a traditional hotel so it feels unfair to comment on The Queen Mary like how I would with other hotel. I would say though, with what they have on hand, the hotel staff did an amazing job to provide comfort to the guests while preserve the historical value for the ship. It almost feels like staying on a cruise ship, one just never leave. The room layout is a bit entangled, but perfectly understandable. All staff we talked to, especially the bell service, are really welcoming and happy to help. A really great experience!

The bathroom though are really tiny. Again, understandable, but the bottom of bathtub is curvy in our room - ie there is no flat surface to stand while shower. It worked out fine for us, but I imagine it might be challenging for some other guests.

The Queen Mary Hotel is an interesting place to stay for those who favor nostalgia and character of the 1930's era. The Stateroom in which I stayed was comfortable and true to the era with the decor and furnishings of an ocean liner. I took advantage of the Promenade Cafe breakfast buffet which was suitable for my simple tastes. The Observation Bar was enjoyable with the authentic Art Deco decor and the Tuesday evening "Meet Me at The Mary" event with live music.

My only area of concern with my stay was with bathing in a tub with the shower head no higher than my neck and very low water pressure. While the water pressure may have been isolated to my Stateroom, the height of the shower head seemed to be a common concern based on overheard comments from other guests.

We were blown away by our room on the Queen Mary - it had the best of both worlds - comfortable yet still had that old world/art deco charm. I love that the bathrooms have not been updated - they are perfectly functional and add to the experience. We had so much fun visiting the Observation Bar for cocktails and the most amazing artichoke/spinach/cheese dip ever tasted (and on night two discovered the speakeasy No. 3 tucked away downstairs for a whole new level of fun). The Queen Mary totally exceeded our expectations and can understand now why it remains a popular destination for so many people.
