I had a really great stay at Dar El Médina; the staff were absolutely amazing and helpful, the room was lovely and just right for me and my needs, the hotel itself was lovely and the food delicious. I felt very relaxed being at the hotel, and it was a great start to my time in Tunis. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone and especially solo femme travellers.

I have back issues, so the bed was a bit hard for me, but others might not have that problem.

Located in the old medina you are only a short walk away from the souk and old town of Tunis. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and made me feel like an extra in an "Lawrence of Arabia" movie. Breakfast was delicious.

Difficult to reach by taxi, so make sure you book a taxi from the hotel, otherwise the local taxi's will not drive you all the way to the hotel. But other than that, there is nothing bad to say about the hotel itself

The Dar is so beautiful and historical, it's such a beautiful place. The staff are so really nice and helpful.. The rooms are great, big and comfy. They have everything. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and we tried the restaurant for dinner and it was our best meal in Tunisia. Thanks so much !

No fridge (high priority), no TV in the room.

Where to start? The dar is a gorgeous old building, and we had a large room with an alcove and arches and a very high ceiling. The location is superb, right in the middle of the Medina, from which you can walk everywhere. Breakfast was incredible,with freshly squeezed orange juice, omelettes, fresh fruit, home-made jams, yogurt with granola. The staff are very kind and helpful, and they have arrangements with a taxi service that will take you to and from the airport, to the Bardo, etc. We could not have been more pleased with Dar Medina!

We loved the helpful friendly staff and their desire to go over and above to assist with your needs. The location is really good, close to the Medina and taxis. The breakfast is delicious and you can tell they take great pride in feeding you well.

In their generous desire to help us find a taxi driver to take us to see Carthage and visit other tourists sites, they pushed forward one of their very kind staff for the job. I should have stipulated we wanted an experienced person who knew the sites, and where they were. We would also have requested that the car would have air conditioning, neither of these things our driver had - although you could not fault his kindness and friendliness. The tip is to always hire a professional driver for these excursions, not necessarily the fault of the hotel, but ours.

Beautiful heritage building, tastefully renovated. We loved the location in one of the most beautiful streets of the medina, little coffee shops right next to it and close to the markets. The staff were very friendly and helped us arrange anything we needed from tables at bars to transport to our next destination. We were very touched when they left us their card telling us we can get in Touch if we happen to need anything throughout our travels in Tunisia. Also, we loved the olive oil soap in the bathroom.

We just wished there were more Tunisian elements in the breakfast

Dar el Medina is a beautiful family home dating back to the 1880s, which was converted into a boutique hotel around 2005 and is apparently still owned by the same family, accounting for the various historical photos on the ground floor. There was a warm welcome, and each room (all named, for example, after flowers) is rather individual. Their common feature might be that by default there is no natural light unless one opens the shutters to an interior courtyard that could be shared with another room. The breakfast is a bit unusual in that it is completely "open loop," i.e., the guest plays really no role. Various things arrive at the table in random order (different each morning). For example, I was surprised on my first day that they suddenly served an omelette at the very end when I was already full and did not know what was coming. Nobody asks if you'd like some more coffee, nobody cleans the tables, and in the kitchen there seemed to be constant quarreling, which produced an interesting atmosphere for the otherwise abandoned guests while eating. I think that would be something they could easily work on. Meanwhile, the location of the residence near the Government Square is quite convenient, a great drop-off and pick-up spot for taxis.

The bed was only moderately comfortable. Some drinking water should be provided on the room. They wanted to charge literally five times as much as it costs at the "Magasin Général" at the Bab al-Bhar, which in a hot country is perhaps a bit opportunistic.

Very original and classical design showing the charm of Tunis and Medina - Marvelous staff, everyone is helpful so dedicated to assure guests have a happy stay. - excellent breakfast composition - excellent cuisines for lunch and dinner, the price is not for budget travelers - the hotel is the nearest to the Zaituna Grand Mosque, only 7-8 minutes walk.

It's time to change the mattress of the bed. From the cushion, it's already aged, at least 10-15 years old.

The building itself is very historical, so you feel like you are in Medina and having a Tunisian culture experience. The room was very well decorated The stuff, alll of them not the reception only, was very kind - very friendly, open to help for anything you might ask about (not only regarding the hotel but also regarding Tunis or any activity you want to do in the city) Breakfast was very tasty and even too much for us :) I am sad that we had to leave some of the options each day cos we were full already. Very safe street where the hotel is, you can go to cafes and restaurants by walking within Medina

We would like to give this feedback to the hotel that (during the cold weather periods at least) a/c is not helping to get warm the room We asked additional heater and had to leave them open sometimes even when we were out because it was not easy to heat the room.. another solution is needed for winter stays.
