Excellent location just a short walk from the Zaytuna mosque (though tricky to reach without a map in the late afternoon when many of the labyrinthine roads in the Medina are shuttered). A hearty breakfast, friendly staff and good service. I would stay here again.

The water pressure in the shower was a little weak, and as there was no screen door, water tended to leak onto the bathroom floor--but this is really nothing to complain about! I booked a taxi to the airport as I had an early morning flight, and this was very expensive at 100 Dinar (for comparison, I paid 50 to get the the hotel from the airport).

Great heritage spot and amazing hamam facility. The breakfast was fantastic and the restaurant for dinner gave such a great rustic feel in this palace. Saida and staff were most amazing in helping two female travellers feel safe and taken care of. We had 5 star service from all staff. They would make sure we got in and out safely throughout the entire trip. We got a personal staff to show us around the souk. They were so caring. I got a migraine during the trip and they pulled out all the help and even offered to take me to local care for Arabic remedies. I will definitely return here and was amazed by the excellent service.

You sleep in a museum, magical! Staff were amazing. Sauna and massage extra but it deserves every penny! It is in the old city so be aware that you’ll live like the old time :)

Location! Accessibility!? But contact the hotel before they’ll arrange with you!

Lovely, very old hotel with interesting rooms due to its' age. Breakfasts were great and staff was very helpful. Since the hotel is in the Medina, we had to walk a couple of blocks to/from a drop off point with our luggage to check in and check out.

No direct taxi service available to the hotel.

We had an absolutely amazing experience staying at Palace Bayrem. The host was very welcoming and took us directly to a room and next day they gave us another room for us to be more comfortable. Saida who is the receptionist had been very helpful and made our stay even better, by looking after us. The housekeeping team was also very kind and the breakfast team too. They are a small team but we really enjoyed our stay, we even had a wedding in the courtyard one night and enjoyed the celebrations. We will highly recommend Palace Bayrem to everyone to stay at it’s very convenient and also located in the heart of Madina. As a farewell to us, my wife got a rose from the palace garden and this was a beautiful gesture from Saida. We will come back here and definitely stay again in this beautiful palace full of character and beauty.

Fantastic ambiance and character: an old palace refurbished but not over-done. Excellent breakfast, extraordinary location in the narrow streets of the Medina. The taxi booked through the hotel drops you off and the driver guides you along about 50 metres of alley way too narrow for any car. No lift, and probably no rooms without at least a few steps. The English-speaking staff were very helpful.

The hotel restaurant was good but not inspired. The nearest alternative restaurants had wonderful live traditional music: zither in one and ud (Arabic lute) in another. Finding them in the maze that is the Medina is a challenge.

The hotel is well situated within the Medina, easy to access from outside the Medina while also being close to popular souks. We were able to walk to all destinations easily. The traditional hotel has beautiful details, and the staff were amazing. The hotel is perfect for those who are looking for a bit of culture and amazing staff.

The first room we were given was not cleaned very well and appeared mostly unused (cobwebs on chandelier, dust on reachable parts of the bed, and dirt in the hammam). However, the staff were quick to give us another room that was much more comfortable and clean. The breakfast was average, but again, the staff were friendly and amazing.

Located in the bustling medina of Tunis, this former Sultan's Palace is a dream. I had no idea when I booked that I would find an actual palace and not just a hotel with "Palais" in the name. You can really feel the history within the walls -- it's like stepping back in time. The staff is so helpful and generous with their time. The breakfast was great. There is a grand dining room for dinner, and an ancient spa on the premises. And the rooms and courtyards are especially charming. I expected that, for the price, I would find something much less grand. I wish I could have stayed longer, and I will be back.

I loved everything.

The hotel is a traditional Tunisian house in the medina and is absolutely stunning. Breakfast was buffet style and featured a mix of traditional Tunisian dishes and more continental options. The food was delicious and the barista prepared us coffee however we wanted it (espresso, cappuccino etc). All the staff were so incredibly kind and helpful, particularly the manager, the receptionist Saida and the two women who run the breakfast salon. The location is also wonderful - it’s in the Medina but very close to a main road, so it’s not difficult to find. Taxis are also very cheap, so when we didn’t feel like crossing the Medina to get to the ville nouvelle, we took a taxi (about 4 dinars).

Beautiful Palace in the Medina.

High price for what you get. Service could be improved as well as some things were not working, like hot water.
