First onsen experience and it did not disappoint. Me and my partner agreed the superior double room w/ private onsen was the most comfortable, nicest stay we've had to date. Our skin feels restored and rejuvenated. Beautiful walks nearby, and multiple eating options a short walk away.

There were multiple reviews of guests who experienced their items being stolen by house keeping. Upon entry, there was a notice explicitly stating that the hotel knew this was an issue, and they weren't liable. Because of this, we declined room cleaning. These warnings made arrival more stressful as we had to devise plans to deal with potential theft.

Our room was very very spacious and comfortable and the outside area with the private onsen was gorgeous. The location and the rest of the property were also very peaceful. This was the perfect night of relaxation and refreshing at the halfway point of our trip around Japan.

We were unaware that you had to book dinner a day in advance and the pub and tea ceremony room were closed during our stay which meant that there were absolutely no food options for us aside from the gift shop and vending machines. The staff also had very little English which made communicating all this difficult.

Right when I checked in, the staff was so welcoming. I was so stressed trying to find the place (and from getting off the airport, etc) and arriving at the Onsen was calming. It’s a traditional Japanese hotel (option to sleep in a Japanese bed or standard bed), the bathrooms were immaculate, and the onsen itself was not crowded so perfect for me. I had breakfast and for one person, it’s a lot of food (I traveled alone) but the food was amazing. It was the best place to stay in the hotel and nothing else. A little spa/sleep session to take a break from all the traveling. Once you check out, they also provided transportation to the nearest train station :)

I don’t think I can write anything negative about the place. Maybe just location but you don’t really have control over it if you really like this place that is far from the city. I didn’t explore much either during my 2 night stay since I wanted to just relax in the hotel.

we really liked the dinner and breakfast. it’s a big place but feels still private. staff very kind. convenient shuttle service. it was a nice break from the busy cities.

we had a private room with onsen, .the room can accommodate 6 (we stayed 2 people) but in the onsen only 1 can bathe at the time, looks bigger in the pictures but it’s actually very small (smaller than a bathtub)

It's gorgeous. It is absolutely stunning. You get transported into this beautiful lobby that instantly inspires. The room that I had was traditional but lacked nothing you'd need to have a comfortable stay. I loved how my outside view was all greenery, mainly trees. It felt private and like I was enjoying a bath in nature. The staff was also very kind and excellent. If you go to this hotel, be sure to call them for a shuttle bus, it makes it a lot easier to reach.

No downsides, you get an amazing experience. But if you go, I suggest going for at least two nights, else it'll feel like it's over too quick. This will also allow you to enjoy the surrounding nature more.

traditional full service inn (they'll make beds for you daily meaning bringing the futon in and out daily as you are at dinner). Dinners and breakfasts are fabulous, delicious, sumptuous, and bountiful. Love the entire traditional yukata wearing, private onsen in the patio, communal onsen was also available. The facility is very clean, however, a bit dated.

limited shuttle time schedule. If you commit to staying in the inn for 1-2 days or maybe check out the area very close by without the need to check out Kyoto center as first timers, that's fine. However, if you're staying for like 4-5 days, the commute can be very time consuming though it's very scenic and beautiful ride!

This is the perfect ryokan experience. The room and private outdoor bath looked out onto a small garden and the forest. We didn’t think my son would be able to use the onsen because he has tattoos but they said it wouldn’t be a problem and this made the stay extra special. We had half board and the evening meal was amazing. Our own dining space and lots of lovely food. Service was excellent. Breakfast was also good.

Everything was great.

A short stay at this Ryokan was exceptional! We booked for one day and were greeted with many friendly staff members. They were very helpful in giving us directions and tour of our open bath room. We went during a slower day so was able to experience the public bath to ourselves. Our own private bath was also very comfortable and relaxing. On top of this, you must experience the traditional breakfast and dinner menu, the food was unique and quite filling! Lastly, although the location is farther from the train station, they offer free shuttles, highly recommend!

Wonderful huge hotel complex with the perfect ambient everywhere. The breakfast as well as the dinner were traditional and very tasty. The Onsen area is perfect to relaxe and the stuff where always there to help us.

You get lost the first minutes because the hotel complex is very huge. We arrived by car, I don't know how easy it is without a car to get to the hotel...

The surroundings are gorgeous, the onsen was superbly relaxing. It's a perfect place to relax and do nothing.

It's quite remote and the lack of food nearby can be a problem. I know they tell you there isn't any food unless you pre-order up front, but I didn't listen and was starving my first night. ORDER AHEAD. The food is pricey, but it is a singular experience you are paying for. Dinner, in particular is special.
