I liked the location as I was walking and it was conveniently accessible from the trail. The room was front facing so I enjoyed the view and watching the people about town. There was a small store across the street for snacks and such and a neat place down in the park to get food. There was a festival going on that made it an enjoyable stay as well

Being a walker meant my arrival time was rather dependent on my walking which unfortunately made me a bit early for the stated check-in time. I had to cool my jets for awhile until it was time to go into the facility; as mentioned, though, the little store made a nice place to get a snack and the park across the way made a nice place to wait until I could go into the inn.

We were a little apprehensive about our stay at Ben Shearn after reading the reviews but please DO NOT be put off. We were pleasantly surprised the hotel was marvellous. The location is absolutely stunning, the view from our window was spectacular even the rain didn’t ruin it. We were in Room 4 which was a lovely clean room. The bed was comfortable and we slept very well. The staff were so lovely and welcoming and the breakfast was lovely and set us up for the day. We had a night cap in the bar and again the staff and locals were very welcoming.

Although a little dated decor wise there was nothing we didn’t like about the hotel.

Beautiful, clean room with a bath in the living room. Very grateful to the host for cooking us dinner, as we were told in the village pub that food was only available for residents, which was a blow!

Room was cold when we got there (it was freezing outside) but once we turned the radiator up it was fine.

This hotel is well situated in a lovely area. There is parking behind the hotel and another one free on the other side of the road. The owner was helpful and gave us some advice about monuments to visit in Stirling and a walk near the hotel. The room was okay (a bit old) but we slept well. The breakfast was good and well cooked by the owner.

Breakfast was very good - choices available were appropriate, quantities were good. Good room size for a solo traveller Comfy chair in the room Liked having a guest lounge - did not have sit in my room the whole time

Very small television - hard to see from the bed Needed more teabags for a three night stay

Breaakfast was great to set you up for a few hours on the local hills and trails. Room good size and comfortable.

Although it was ok.... a more homely. communal seating area/lounge would be good.

The location was fabulous, right there in the mountains outside a short distance from Glencoe and only 1:30 from the Edinburgh airport. The hotel had the charm and character you would expect from a 200 year old building. The ladies that work there were lovely and the breakfast was wonderful! We will definitely stay there again when we are in the area.

Charming small town hotel - very Scottish feel. Lively bar, friendly ‘locals’. Nice quality room and fine views.

Shared bathroom (with one other bedroom). Very scruffy, leaky shower screen but excellent shower. Needs a refurb. Cold tap not working in room basin. Maybe that’s why there was no drinking glass.

We stayed in room one with the beautiful big bath. It was so, quiet and relaxing with a tiny internal pub downstairs for a quick one before bed. The bed was very comfortable and room was very clean. Host was amazing and extremely accommodating.

Everything was perfect.

A friendly hotel, reasonably priced. Room quiet and comfortable. Good breakfast. Nothing really to dislike.

Lack of on site parking. We had to do a difficult reversing manoeuvre to get out. We didn't know until we arrived whether or not food was being served.
