We stayed in one of the hostel's "glamping pods" and were impressed by the quality and comfort of the accommodation. The pod was located near the river and it was delightful to listen to the birdsong in the evening and morning. The bed was comfortable and there was a good shower in the bathroom. The small kitchenette was well equipped and the provision of a small jug of fresh milk in the fridge was a thoughtful touch. It rained during our stay, but we could imagine it would be a delight to sit out on the verandah. I arrived at the hostel on a bicycle and the check-in information gave details of the hostel's secure bike shed. My wife arrived by bus and the hostel is just a few minutes walk from the centre of the town.

Nothing really! The information about check-in could have been clearer that the various key codes would be sent by email early on the day of arrival.

We rented two pods for our family of 4. My husband and I stayed in one of them and were really delighted by the efficient design and aesthetic. It's really cosy, clean, and thoughtfully designed. The host was thoughtful in leaving some milk for our coffee. Our kids were in another pod and we were a little surprised to see that it was a fully accessible handicap/ medical unit. This concerned them at first because they didn't know how to use the shower etc. But it was fine. The pods are located in a beautiful spot overlooking a stream with a mountain and valley views. It's a short walk into town for the restaurants and shops. We wish we'd had more time to explore the area.

We had some troubles figuring out how to turn on the hot water in the shower, even after following the instructions in the welcome book. But then we looked under the bathroom sink and found a re-set button for the hot water and it got the hot water running.

Hostel is at a perfect location, close to the bike rental place, to some restaurants and hiking routes. Easy access to the hostel, even after the reception desk was closed. The room was cosy and had nice lamps. The radiators were working, which was needed very much to dry our clothes as we got soaked a few times during our trips. The shower had nice hot water. The bed and towels were clean, and the pillows were exceptionally lovely. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was a fridge below in the common area, so we were able to make sandwiches for our trips.

The room where we have stayed was right above the table football game of the common room. People playing this loud sounded like someone's trying to break a door open with force. Listening to this for hours (until 10 p.m.) was a wee bit annoying. If common room games would be allowed until 8 p.m. only, our stay would have been more relaxing. We found the fire exit signs also a bit bright (see photo), but I guess there is not much to do about these as they are a requirement. The WiFi signal was very weak in our room, and as a result, it was unstable.

The Callander Hostel is situated next to a beautiful river, not far at all from the town centre. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The room was good, very clean, the showers were powerful enough and there was plenty of hot water.

If I had to be say something here, one of party commented that their could have been a bit more space in the room, but I would not have said space was an issue. I didn't like all the snoring, but since they were my friends I can't complain too much....

This hostel is beautiful, clean, the facilities are at an incredible standard! Tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms, not one private bathroom but 2 in our 6 berth room! The communal kitchen and living areas were lovely and bright and a great space for the kids to chill out. The area is stunning with lots to see and nice places to eat. We only stopped in for one night on our way north, but I could well imagine coming back for a short break!

We were met on arrival by very helpful and friendly staff given an outside pod instead of main hostel room, this was an accessible room with lots of room, great facilities (small kitchen including fridge, sofa and small dining area), and exceptional view into the fields. Very very quiet at night, while very close to the centre of the village. Excellent!

Absolutely fantastic location. We staying in one of the glamping pods at the back of the main hostel building and it overlooked a beautiful field, mountains and river in Callander. The pod was quiet, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. It's super close to the main town high street but set back far enough that it's quiet. There was 1 parking spot per pod but they have additional parking spaces so we didn't have any issue parking our 2 cars. I only spoke with one person from the hostel who came out to check that I'd gotten into the pod ok which was appreciated. Otherwise we were left to ourselves. There is a sweet little allotment as well on the property.

Great location ideally situated for a short break. The pods are spacious well equipped, comfortable and clean. We especially liked the layout of Pod One with the partition between sitting area and the bed.Pod Three seemed to be more spacious but less comfortable to sit and eat in.

Both Pods lacked a Tv for the price paid

Amazing stay with Amazing staff, staff went above and beyond. The communal space was clean & tidy and had fully equipped kitchen, great football table and games for the children, outdoor space was lovely with seating with great views. Perfectly located in town, next to a beautiful duck pond and little children's park. Would highly recommend.

THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO SAY IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEWHERE AFFORDABLE TO STAY, WITH SELF CATERING OPTIONS IN THE HEART OF CALLANDER. THE RIVER IS ALL OF A FEW MINUTES AWAY AS IS AN AWARD WINNING BAKERY/ CAFE AND MUCH MORE BESIDES. YOU CAN EVEN DO WHAT WE DID AND WALK DOOR TO DOOR FROM THE HOSTEL TO THE SUMMIT OF BENI LEDI - MAKING FOR AN ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC DAY.
