The location was very good, the hotel was very nicely decorated, modern but keeping the old world charm. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The food in the evening was ok but we had expected a better menu, not a lot of choice if you didn’t like salmon or burgers. I had venison burger which was quite gristly, and quite crispy on one side! However, the salmon platter was excellent, and my husbands venison stew which was a ‘special’ was good.

The room we had, a falls view was quite small with the bed pushed up against the wall, making it quite difficult to get in and out of as well as no where to put a glass of water, book etc. No room for bedside tables. But most of all the bed was so uncomfortably soft it was almost impossible to sleep on your side because it dipped so much. So both my husband and I had a very bad nights sleep. I would have told the manager in the morning but there was only cleaning staff around.i noted it was no cheeper than the larger rooms either.

✨ This place is an absolute must-visit! It's charming, full of character, and offers a truly unique experience. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is outstanding—the loveliest staff who go out of their way to make sure you're looked after. 🎣 One of the highlights was the smokehouse tucked away at the back. The smoked salmon is incredible—so fresh and full of flavour—and if you get the chance, definitely try one of the Scottish sparkling wines. A perfect pairing! 👌10/10, we’ll absolutely be returning. Highly recommended!

Lovely little restored cottage behind the inn. We had a nice dinner and breakfast in the inn and my gluten free diet was accommodated. Staff are excellent particularly Lydia, who went out of her way to assist us when the cottage had a plumbing issue. We were refunded half the cost of our accommodation as the issue couldn't be rectified due to it being the Easter long weekend and no other rooms were available. We are happy with the way this was handled and would stay again.

The hotel is very quaint and rustic with gorgeous views of the falls and hills behind. The bar and restaurant are small, the menu quite limited but the food is amazing. The staff are all so friendly and willing to help. The room was so well presented - thick, fluffy duvet, bouncy pillows, comfy seats to relax and take in the views. Toiletries were provided. Tea and coffee making facilities also included. The outside is a little sun trap with lots of tables and seating, off street parking ensures your vehicle is safe during your stay. I absolutely loved my overnight break away and will hopefully see you wonderful ladies and bar men again soon. Thanks for making it a fabulous stay over - Mr and Mrs Queen with Zoey the Frenchie! X

Nothing to dislike

The setting is phenomenal. The falls are across the lane. The spring flowers were in bloom and the property had on site parking for our car. It was nearly magical. Just walking up the lane was gorgeous. Splendid breakfast. We were quite full all day afterwards. Various choices; we picked the full Scottish breakfast and it included various juices, milk, tea, cereals, toast, fruit, yogurt, potatoes, eggs, blood sausage, regular sausage, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, tea, and coffee. We stayed in the “new” part. It was only 500 years old. The restaurant was 800 years old. So thin hallways with lots of doors, but I guess over hundreds of years a few remodels are not to be unexpected. Our room was cozy, a double bed with a bunk bed. We were glad to have the spare bed to use for our carry-on luggage. It was spick and span—super clean. Plush wool blankets for sleeping. Had we not been eager for a hike, I would have stayed in longer!

We had trouble with the shower, but had we seen that type of shower system before maybe we would have figured it out. The bathroom was lovely though with a modern look.

The location is amazing of course especially if you book a room with a river view. The inn is quaintly charming with a sloping floor in our bedroom- we like quirky! The meals were of exceptional quality and generous portion size. We especially loved the creamy porridge in the morning with berries, honey and cream. But above all, the staff were the highlight or our stay - friendly, smiley and we were made to fee instantly at home ❤️ Before arriving I read some quite critical reviews of this place- I don’t know if some people are harder to please or whether there has been a major change at The Inn but our experience has been 100% positive in all areas

Maybe the bed was a bit soft but struggling to find anything we didn’t like!

Food at dinner was excellent. Lovely choice and very well prepared and presented. Stunning location. The falls from our room window were breathtaking. Staff very friendly.

Our Falls view room could do with a few plumbing maintenance attention. Leaky tap that just wouldn’t stop. Difficult to get the correct temperture on hand held shower attachment to wash hair. No chef in morning so no choice rather than full Scottish, stabled eggs or porridge. Maybe some fresh fruit, cheese or yogurt could help.

a lovely room with a view of the falls which were in full flow after rain the day before. The breakfasts and evening meals were of high quality and good value for money. The staff were very attentive and very helpful especially Roisinn who sent on my mobile phone when I accidentally left it in our room. An old inn with quirky rooms and furniture. We would stay again.

Amazing location. Polite and helpful staff. Food at breakfast generally good tho no marmalade or jam. No fresh fruit. Comfortable bed and a quiet room

The stairs are challenging but nothing they can do about those and staff helped with luggage.

Amazing views, cosy vibes and good food & drinks. The staff were incredible, notably Sharon and Sheree who were both so accommodating and outgoing. We visited with our dog who was made to feel most welcome as a guest also :) Highly recommend and look forward to staying again.

The corridor and rooms were a tad cold, but this was mostly due to heating being off on arrival. Our room was a tad small, with the pillows not being the greatest - but this could just be a one off. Everything else was fantastic and I would still rate our stay as a 10/10.
