A small, but well run hotel just off the centre of Newport. The staff are very welcoming and open. If they can help, they will. A new extension will offer more rooms as from Summer 2025, and the renovation has been done with sympathy for the original, late 17th century building. Attention to detail is at the heart of daily operations for the dedicated team, and, after meeting the owners, you can see where the infectious love for the hotel and guests comes from. One of the best hotels I have ever been in, and, as I used to work in hotels, I have been in many, many pretentious buildings, but this one is authentic and real. I would heartily recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone. Thank you, Karen and team

The room was a good size with large bath. In the bathroom was a large deep washbasin which was ideal for a wash and A beautiful good sized shower. The King sized bed was very comfortable and the whole area was very quiet. The Bonus was that you can bring takeaways into the dining room at night with plates and utensils provided and you can get a tea or coffee or drink up to 9 pm at night.
WE DIDN'T REALIZE that the heating wasn't on a thermostat but the staff told us how to switch on the radiators and towel rail. Also there was no dressing table but the manager agreed to put in a mirror above the table.

We absolutely loved our stay just for night the price was brilliant. The staff were absolutely lovely all smiling interior it’s amazing we had Room12 and I didn’t know there was a bath however there was one and the Mrs spent 2.5hours in their was very spacious so deffo recommend to those tall folk that love a bath. Walking distance to variety of drinking and eating establishments and so a Lidl store right across the street, had an ally near the hotel filled with a variety of independent retailers. The hotel had tea and drink facilities in the room coffee, tea and even a couple sachets of hot chocolate. Their was miniature shampoo/conditioner & shower gel.
Absolutely nothing we loved it can’t wait to stay again.

The staff brought me everything I asked for, and it was all served beautifully. Due to my small appetite I couldn’t make good use of the cooked breakfast, but it looked very good. The location was perfect - near the town centre and bus station, but a quiet street. My room and huge bathroom were very welcome.
Reception wasn’t open in the evenings, though that was made clear in the advertising. However, it did seem strange to come in at the end of the day and find no members of staff around.

What an exceptional hotel. We were lucky to stay in the apartment. Whilst it’s a walk from the main hotel and restaurant area it was a beautiful place to spend a few days on the island. The staff who help with breakfast and cleaning are a credit to the two managers. Everyone is so lovely and the husband and wife team couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. We would not hesitate to stay again. The perfect location in striking distance of the whole island.
The bed could be a hit bigger in the apartment it’s only a double.

Great location in the heart of Newport. Friendly staff and decent rooms. However, the highlight of the hotel is the breakfast. It's complete and we could choose multiple items such as fruit salad, croissant, yogurt, etc. and one main, such as full English. It was tasty and filling.
The surfaces were a bit dusty, such as the windowsills and the fan and we would expect more from a hotel. One of the rooms was missing the soap. Also, in terms of value for money, the hotel was on the pricey side. Granted that breakfast was included and it was great, but still we were expecting a bit more from a hotel if we were paying that much.

We were pleased to have booked 'One Holyrood Hotel' - it was a lovely stay with wonderful, friendly staff and our room was great!! We stayed in Room 5 which had a lovely carved wooden bed and very comfy mattress! The breakfast was excellent with quite a good selection of eggs, meats, cereals, etc. and was delicious! They have a beautiful garden in the back of the hotel with tables/chairs to sit and enjoy a drink or just relax after a day of sightseeing to admire the flowers especially the wisteria trailing over the arbour. The location is only a 5 minute walk from the bus station, easy to get to anywhere you desire on the Island. We bought a 7 day pass which allowed us to hop on/off, change bus #'s and explore the quaint villages and coastline.....all wonderful!! We highly recommend staying at 'One Holyrood Hotel' - you'll be happy you did!!

Very old quirky building with beams through the room Lovely old fashioned furniture Modern bright bathroom with in bath shower . Plenty of storage and tea/coffe making facilities for Very tasty cooked breakfast Staff were lovely and very helpful
Room 2 Extremely creeky bed which did disturb my sleep every time I moved Poor lighting in the bedroom compared with the bathroom which made working on laptop difficult. WiFi was hit and miss and often was unavailable. Very high noise levels from traffic outside as the room is at the front with single glazed bay windows (due to age of building ) but some secondary glazing would help. Very noisy when the room next door (in next part of building) used their shower Very narrow steep stairs difficult to carry cases (no lift) which I found difficult to manoeuvre with a gammy knee.

Well located an easy walk from the bus station. Good breakfast. Comfortable room with modern bathroom. Small fridge included which I appreciated. With the exception of 1 person, all staff were friendly, approachable and went out of their way to be helpful. Nice atmosphere.
The rooms have period beds which look beautiful. The mattresses have been replaced and are modern and comfortable. However the period bed in room 9 has wood up to the level of the mattress which means you can't sit comfortably on the bed. Also an effort to get in and out. Not suitable for an elderly or disabled person. The blinds are temperamental. I had to get housekeeping to fix mine every day. I asked for coaching tips on how to do it but she said it was tricky - no obvious answers. This got a bit irritating. The lights in the room were not really bright enough for reading unless you sat by a bedside lamp - and being unable to open the blind made it difficult to work in the morning. I will go back to this hotel but will try not to stay in room 9.

Wow, just wow! What a place, a proper gem, from the minute you walk through the door your eyes are everywhere. The attention to detail is superb, the finishing touches are all there. From the breakfast served in the lavishly designed dining room or the beautiful walled garden with various terraces and a plethora of fully stocked flower beds, to the tea and cakes throughout the day, what a find. We stayed in room seven which was on the upper floor, winding our way up the stairs through the panelled walls and artwork we reach the top floor and again, we're very pleasantly surprised, our room has a open vaulted ceiling with an array of exposed beams, a great use of space with an enormous rainfall shower tooked out of sight along with probably the biggest vanity unit I've ever seen. But without doubt the best feature sat before us was the truly massive double roll top bath. The room was light and airy with views all around of the old town, great access to all the locality has to offer and a supermarket withing a stones throw. A great place, we're already planning a return.
Leaving, we were made so welcome.
