I stayed 1 week mid May single traveler, the staff were excellent room very clean and pleasant shower may be a bit small but only to be expected when facilities are planned into a old building not designed for en-suit facilities they have made the best of space available. The week I visited it changed hands mid week no problem with room allowcation and breakfast, speaking of which you could not have asked for a more large full english breakfast excellent. The hotel had to close the bar and evening food from Tuesday until opening on Friday 16th due to legal take over unavoidable, both the previous and new staff are excellent, I will looking forward to visiting again very soon

The Wheatsheaf was absolutely perfect for mine and my son's short stay on the Isle of Wight this week. The room was clean, comfortable and had everything we could have needed, staff were very pleasant and the breakfast was excellent. We had a delicious meal in the bar one evening also and were served by a lovely and knowledgeable bartender who put up with my 10 year old's strange questions very graciously! We were both very impressed and enjoyed our time there immensely. Great central location and very reasonable price too. Completely faultless. We will definitely return. Thanks so much for a lovely stay!
Nothing we didn't like!

The pub was welcoming, food was good. Breakfast was tasty Staff were reasonably attentive. The room had drink making facilities, on the 2nd night I asked for more teabags and the lady I asked was very happy to give me more.
The room we stayed in was quite compact. The bed, comfy as it was, it was a small double, which was a bit small for me and my husband. There was just enough room to walk around the bed but not enough room to dress in. The bathroom was OK, and the shower was small. The water was very hot!

We loved the bar/restaurant. The food was really hearty pub grub, brilliant chef. We also loved the breakfast room with its view across the square. We loved the location, it was wonderful to walk across the square to the Italian restaurant one of our nights and then walk back the few steps at the end of the evening.. the room was very comfortable and warm.
The parking was a little difficult but only in an annoying way. There were plenty of car parks around and all could be used for overnight parking. But they all used parking apps which kept going wrong. Still, it gave us an excuse to walk past the bakery each morning and we found an adorable little courtyard which if. It hadn't been for the rubbish parking app, we wouldn't otherwise have found it.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was included in the price of the room and was really nice, infact all of the food we ate in the reaturant was top tier too! We had asked for an extra night we hadnt planned and they did everything possible to make sure we were able to. This is a holiday i will always remember and if we make it back to the isle of wight we will definatly book with them again.
The showers were a little tight but considering the price of the room i was still very happy with what was available

Great location near to the bus station and centre of town. Exceptional breakfast.
My room had a gap big enough between the door and doorframe for quite a bit of light to come through all night from the hallway. There was noise of what sounded like a bathroom fan from another room or perhaps just the building generators or fans or something, but it was going all night. So between the light and the feint noise, I didn't have a great night sleep.

The bedrooms (both of them) were spotlessly clean and were adjacent to each other as requested. We didn’t book to the view, and closed the curtains as soon as we got there to keep the sun out (31/32 degrees) and the added bonus was air-conditioning, which aided the nights sleep in excessively hot temperatures. First class breakfast, all cooked fresh to order (poached eggs spot on!). Gladly stay here again if we go to the Isalnd.
I’d have liked some form of key box so I didn’t have to leave the keys on the bar in sight of passer-by’s.

The friendliness of the staff and ease of booking in. The bar and pub food were of a good standard. Young Sumner, who was on breakfast duties, went out of her way to make sure I had an early breakfast as I had to be at a course early. The room was ideal for what was needed, and the bed was very comfortable.
The only criticism is the shower curtain, which was unable to stop water from spreading throughout the shower room and into the sleeping area. It was also quite cramped in the shower cubicle, and anyone of a larger frame would have had difficulty showering.

This is an old small hotel, staffs are friendly, breadfast is excellent. We got all the essentials in the room, clean and tidy, toilet a bit small. Location is great, in the city center, bus station is just 2or 3mins walk. There is a multi storey car park opposite the hotel, it looks difficult to park. we parked our car in other big long stay car park which is within 10mins walk. As it is locate in the city center, a bit noisy before 9pm .after 9 is ok.

Like a “proper” pub ! Excellent draft beer, why does nobody mention the beer in reviews, lots of people would stop there just for the quality of the beer and banter with the locals, outstanding 😁👍
Shower wasn’t the best but considering how much the new crew have done, Rome wasn’t built in a day I’m sure it’s on the fix list very soon, just a very minor improvement makes the place 10/10
