Good location. I've stayed here before, and there is a distinct improvement. My bathroom was a huge improvement on last time, (which interestingly, on a previous visit, was carpeted!)

I arrived early in the day, too early for a check in. The staff kindly took my luggage so I could get out and about unhindered. On my return I was, in no uncertain terms, rebuked for my temerity in allowing this to happen!! and woe betide me if I ever attempted such a sneaky act again. I was looked up and down as if to say "we're keeping an eye on you matey" I was bemused rather than irritated.

I recently stayed at Calverts Hotel on the Isle of Wight, and I had a fantastic experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff were absolutely amazing—friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The hotel’s cleanliness was outstanding, with incredibly high standards maintained throughout my stay. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the town, making it easy to explore and find great places to eat. Plus, it’s conveniently close to other attractions, making it a great base for exploring the island. Considering all of this, the hotel offers excellent value for money, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Isle of Wight.

I had a great experience and highlighted the positive aspects of the hotel; however, there were a few drawbacks. You can hear the wood creaking whenever someone walks outside the room. Additionally, if someone upstairs is using the bathroom, the sound carries quite clearly into the rooms below, which can be a bit disruptive. Parking during the daytime is a challenge, but after 6 PM, you can park for just £2 until 8 AM, which is convenient for overnight stays. Despite these issues, the hotel’s location is great—right in the heart of town, making it easy to explore nearby attractions. If you don’t mind the quirks of an older building, it can still be a decent place to stay.

The hotel is old, but that is the charm. We stayed because of the location, it was close to the coach station. We were able to sightsee and walk around town. It was a short visit but was exactly what we needed.

Only small issue was the little booklet in your room says all day breakfast, but when you go downstairs and ask for breakfast, they say it's packed away. We didn't get told until we were checking out that you are supposed to tell the staff the night before, that you want breakfast the next morning. If we had known, we would have done that. Just a bit awkward, not a big deal. Just letting you know if you decide to stay. : )

Excellent value for money. Central location yet very quiet. I was very lucky. My room was ready and I could check in earlier. Much appreciated. Warm welcoming reception. All staff friendly. Room a treasure. Super clean. Super comfy bed and bed linen. Lovely towels. Wifi fine. Window opened well for good ventilation despite warm weather. Slept well both nights. Overlooked street but very little noise. Mainly sea gulls! Highly recommend.

Some areas carpeting and corridor musty smell in need of TLC. But would change price point. And it is such an excellent affordable place.

Given the price, Calverts is great value for money because it's very clean, the room had a bath and the staff were friendly. Having stayed in various Britannia hotels on the mainland which serve a similar demographic, I'd say Calverts is definitely better. I'll stay again for sure. The receptionist lady with dark hair was very pleasant.

The location was perfect for what I wanted, it was a clean room that fulfilled my needs and expectations with incredibly polite and friendly staff.

Some of the neighbouring rooms were very loud and partying, while not too much of an issue for me as I was able to sleep in and don't mind the noise. For families with young children or people travelling for work it may get rather tedious.

Lovely clean and comfortable room. The cheapest I could find. The staff are really nice and friendly. 24 hour check in is a must for me.

The bathrooms are not great.... no shower curtain or screen... just a stained bath with very bad tiling. But it does the job if u need somewhere to stay cheap.

Hotel excellent for centre of town, few minutes from bus station, The staff were always friendly and cheerful. They were happy to store our luggage the morning we were leaving, so we could go out uncluttered. Room was fine beds very comfortable, plenty of storage space and mirrors, There is tea and coffee making in the room. but there was only one socket so you had to move the TV to get access to the plug, so you can plug the kettle in, or to charge your phone. Breakfast at a fiver, cereals, fruit juice, tea and toast was exactly and was exactly what we needed.

Bathroom needed updating sink cracked, bath was chipped, there was no shower. I could not turn on the sink hot tap no matter how hard I tried, but my husband did it by default it turns the wrong way. Our room over looked the alleyway, so at time was very noisy at night.

Great value for money! I had the best sleep I've had in the while as the beds are very comfy. Rooms are very spacious too. Staff are really friendly and helped us store our bags after we checked out. Great location, right next to the bus station and all the shops. The hotel is beautiful. I don't mind that it's old fashioned, I think it adds character! But definitely some touches needed like replacing baths, removing bathroom carpet and fixing the bathroom wallpaper etc.

Had to request rooms with showers and got them (thank you!) But seems like it should be a given. The bath was stained and the floor in the bathroom is carpeted which doesn't feel hygienic. The wallpaper in bathroom is also peeling. I don't mind personally because it was good value for money but I booked on behalf of friends and it's not up to everyones standards.

Room was recently refurbished and was comfortable and spotlessly clean Truely Amazing value for what is on offer Fantastic location ideal for the town or heading around the island on the bus Lovely historic building Staff friendly and helpful

Advertised as having a baggage room to leave bags on the last day but they don’t offer this which was a shame. But couldn’t fault the stay. If you need to leave a bag the Premier Inn offers £5 per bag per day in the marina
